If you have a dollar tree near you, they sell cutting boards (set of 2) for $1.25. They're essentially the same (one side is smooth the other is textured) and you can cut them down to size as well. I just picked up 2 sets )total) so I can put them in my various bags/palettes/journals. I use them for neocolor, intense, and even my soft pastels.

I do the same thing. They're very versatile and if I end up cutting through it it's fine and I can use it for something else. Another use I have for these cutting boards is for neo 2's basically use them like their specific pallette. I just couldn't pay the price of their pallette that's a chunk of plastic. Anyway that's just my opinion. Have a great night

I really enjoy favorite and regret videos. However, weirdly the regret part can get some people riled up. I think it’s a touchy subject and some people can’t cope with the supplies they use being on someone else’s ‘regret’ list, but the regret list IS my favorite part of the video even if my art supplies are on the regret list, I can take it! đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚đŸ„ł

I'm just trying my best to possibly save people money, as it's hard to find things when you can't try them first. You should enjoy your supplies, even if I didn't like it. A lot of watercolor artists do prefer finely ground pigments in their pallets. It all depends on the type of artist you are as we are all different. Looks like a really good set of paints in the 18 set also love the little fome one as well they are great colors as you could mix just about anything with them out in the field. Thanks for giving us all a looky loo. :)

I agree with you about the Derwent Chromacolor pencils. I was listening to you while working on some projects because I love your soothing voice and appreciate your enthusiasm and competence. I thought to myself, I wonder if she is referring to these pencils as I missed the part where you identified them. Yep, sure enough, same ones. I bought mine from Amazon so got a refund so I wasn’t out any money. What a fun video! I have to say, I love shopping Jackson's in London. I make a large order about twice a year. Order on Tuesday, pick the DHL delivery, and get my order on Thursday. Cheaper and faster shipping than any other art store.

How lucky that you can shop at Jackson’s in London. I’ve ordered one time from Jackson’s so far and even though I live in the U.S., the shipping is super reasonable and gets here within like 10 days or so? I have only been to London one time over 20 years ago and I wasn’t doing much art then. I would think the Jackson’s in London must be a huge store? If I ever get to visit in the UK again and get to London, I’ll be sure to make visiting there and picking up a bunch of art supply goodies a priority.

For your colio palette try putting foam tape on the bottom along the edge near the hinge and see if that fixes it. Also try a piece of foam tape on top of cover near the closure. It's out of balance when the lid is open

Excuse my long-winded comment here. đŸ€ I have become very fond of Schmincke too. I ordered my first Schmincke set last year (and the only half pan set so far,)a Special Edition set of 12 half pans in the typical metal tin that came with an apron, sponge, plastic coffee cup w/cover , travel brush and brush cleaner in a nice box that looked like a wrapped half-pan for $) I’ve never spent that much on one set of wc. This was kind of an early Christmas gift. By the packaging, which had pretty blots of vivid watery pinks, violets and purples
that’s what I thought I was getting
a bunch of beautiful pinks, purples and violets, (the big “half pan” box it came in even said “quinacridone magenta” on it,) but I didn’t bother to carefully read the paint colors it included (silly me.) So I was sorta disappointed at first after I got it and thought about returning it. I then thought, what the heck
let me try this set out, so I did and I love it now. Colors are: 215-lemon yellow, 217-quinacridone gold hue, 341-geranium red, 353-permanent carmine, 371-perylene violet, 782-neutral tint, 495-ultramarine violet, 494-ultramarine finest, 484-phthalo blue, 524-may green, 78-perylene green. I have also since ordered 2 of sample 1/4 pan paint sets of their super-granulating Forest & Deep Sea. I love them and will likely just order the tubes of the ones I like the most. Schmincke just seems to cater wonderfully to the needs/wants of their customers, and let’s face it, their marketing is very smart. I have other premium brand faves too, but I’m leaning more & more towards making Schmincke as my number 1.

Thanks, Nancy! No such thing here, I love discussing art supplies. Oh, I know that beautiful set...Lucky you!! I've tried talking myself into it, but I have all the colors already. I would still love to have it one day if I found a really good price! 😆 They are good mixing colors, I'm glad you kept an open mind to try them. That's a great plan, and more economical to buy tubes than half pans. The Super Granulation colors are a lot of fun, and I really do love them. They have also encouraged me to play with mixes I never thought of, and try more neutrals. You would love the dot card!! Yes, they sure do have a smart marketing team and have me hooked. Yes I love lots of brands, as well. Schmincke keeps out shining the others to me too, so far. But, I'm always open to a new watercolor sweeping me off my feet...maybe A Gallo?! 😊

â€đŸ˜Š I do love the Caran d’Ache palette. Your wonderful discovery and repurpose of the protective plastic in the dot folder! I found that one of my plastic cutting mats have the same finish as the Caran d’Ache palette. So when shopping and see plastic cutting Matt’s, I always check the finish. The little small pan of Neocolor’s is great, especially since these are your favorite colors. Having them as “extras” keeps them from being too precious to use freely. You can change out the colors to create a different palette to take with you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video, it was entertaining, informative, and now I added a few things to my cart that I need to have. About the Chromaflow pencils, they are a student grade, unlike the other artist grade pencils you have. It was also supposed to give the European market a Prismacolor alternative as they are very expensive and difficult to find there. They released it in the American market first, perhaps to see if they would be seen as comparable. However, I do agree they are very overpriced for what they are but, I do enjoy the pigmentation and the softness of the pencil. The wood is not that good as I expected because it is the cheaper line of Derwent products, but I had no problems with the wood splitting or chipping though. I am so pleased to have found your channel.

I have tried all the pencils from Derwent, and this is the first time I was disappointed. I hope it does give my European friends a good alternative though. I was not aware until recently that Prismacolors were so expensive in Europe. I'm glad to hear you didn't have problems with your pencils, and I hope you enjoy them! I agree, that is what I did enjoy about them as well. Thank you, welcome to the channel!

Years ago, I bought a set of 25 Pendaflex Poly file folders. Discovered a few months ago that they work just like the frosted piece you got with the dot cards. Obviously, buying the file folders wouldn't be cost effective but if by any chance you know someone who has them, ask for one. I use pieces of them everywhere. In some small handmade travel palettes and in some Neocolor tins, I've backed the pieces with white duck tape.

I’m going to have to order the pink pouch!! I absolutely love these videos and really appreciate your taking the time to go thru everything. It’s saved me money 💰 and I definitely appreciate you!!
Don’t worry. The colieros would bother me too. I like everything in order, straight and a good quality on majority of items.
I’d rather just buy one item that is very nice than several less expensive items if they won’t last and look /feel cheap. It’s one reason I enjoy your hauls and reviews!!!
You are doing some very nice paintings and I appreciate your sharing with us.
I love the little Fome palette! I’ve been looking at a larger one.
Can you really tell a difference??? I’m with you on just wanting these limited palettes!! I think Schminke knows several of us collect paints
.lol. I hate to miss one because they are so expensive on EBay afterwards.
I have noticed an increase in prices for some art supplies.
I don’t understand how ANYONE feels comfortable telling you where you should spend YOUR money??? Had to laugh when you mentioned Amazon
lol. You are right
there’s so many items from China!!!
Have you seen the handmade brass palletes?? I’m dying to get it!! I’m really not a good artist but I love art supplies!
I believe it’s “Jared Draws” and Brian Ashmore who I watched. One of them made one too!!
    Sorry I am just rambling
.
    Thank you

Hi Nancy! Congratulations on your new home and that is great you are getting it updated. We need to do updating, but I'm too afraid of the mess...so I'm putting it off.
Be careful on the pouch, many are over charging. I think I paid $28-38, I hope I said in the video. I love it and will get more colors someday, maybe the blue one next. ;D
Thank you!! I'm so glad to know my videos are helpful. Yes, I'm the same way! I would much rather save up for quality items. I don't mind budget paints, but I want things to be worth the money and not end up in a landfill.
The Fome palette is really nice...if it was larger a may like it even more. Lol But, I wouldn't over pay for it. Yes, I love the limited sets!!! I'm excited for Black Friday hoping for a pretty colored tin that they have done in the past. YOU are my people for sure...I still look for the green and burgundy tin I missed. I won't pay too much though. Make sure you check Amazon Germany before you bid too much! ;D
I'm afraid to look at the brass palette...I have so many wooden boxes etc that I love and I do love all my art supplies. So I'm telling myself that I don't need it. Lol Yeah, people can be vile...that is why comments like yours really are so nice to read! Thank you!!!

Stephanie, I am binge watching your videos on the buys that you love and your regrets. I am in love with that Delfonics pouch that you have and was able to find it in mustard (very cute) for $32.99 free shipping from Amazon.
I am also in love with so many of those little pallets of paints that you found. Sorry to say that on my limited budget (elderly social security) there are not too many that I can afford 😱.
Thanks ever so much for sharing all of your opinions. I find your videos very enjoyable and am loving all of them. You are such a joy!! I am all about getting a sale too and just love to show all of my crazy purchases to my roommate/best friend. Surely I drive her crazy at times 😅

My favorite art store is Jackson’s, they have an impressive variety of brands including Isaro, old Holland, Blockxx, etc. Not sure why you would get negativity about Jackson’s, very odd. Thank you so much for letting me know a bit about you! Please let give you some advise to help you. I'm sorry it's so long, but I hope you find it helpful!
You do not need many art supplies at all!! Trying all the brands and colors is completely unnecessary, it's just for fun. It will in no way make you a better artist. I loved to draw as a teen, but I couldn't afford any supplies. I'm splurging now because I am finally able to. I also receive many products for free from the company.
I highly recommend you get a small palette of which ever artist grade watercolors are the most affordable for you. You will learn more, and spend less. There is a great shop in Italy where you can compare prices on different brands. It's called Momarte. Maybe you could start with the Watercolor Maimeri Blu - Intro set 5 tubes 12 ml or half pans if you don't want tubes.
Which brand you will love is very personal preference. I love many brands like Schmincke Horadam, but you may not. Try not to spend money on budget sets on Amazon, Winsor & Newton Cotman or Schmincke Akademie (both student grade lines). You can get artist grade for nearly the same price if you shop around. Eventually, you can purchase dot cards to try different brands if you like.
Please don't let any CZcams channel make you feel you cannot create beautiful art without all the supplies they use, even mine! ;D
I'm really glad you enjoy my videos! Please feel free to ask if I would still purchase the item again now. Many prices have increased substantially sadly! 💗

I thank you for using Jackson's - relieved ONE company despite the obvious failure of BREXIT (which of course I voted remain!) One good positivity in a gloomy economy!

Hi Helen, you know I love supporting Jackson's and Cult Pens in the UK, as well as shops here in the USA!

Thank u for this video ! One suggestion - it is a bit distracting when there a bits of weird air spaces where you edited
in my opinion, better to leave in the errors and allow for audio continuity rather than create irregular audio breaks, which take the viewer out of the experience and may lead them to switch to another video. Best wishes!

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. It's mostly just me trying to cut out some of the ummms, that I used to get comments about. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in a positive, helpful manner. Best wishes!

I prefer Jackson's too over the big A. Ignore the critics.

Yeah, I often have grammar mistakes as I'm both excited to share and still get nervous when on camera...

Right, but it is basic grammar. More and more people are using the words incorrectly and it's concerning.
