Another very informative and interesting post Steveđđ» I struggle with Garam masala, I find it too pungent and medicinal tasting and Iâve tried various brands and when to add to a curry and in various quantities. This probably sounds like sacrilege but I prefer a touch Chinese five spice added towards the end of cookingđ€Ł
Yes nothing wrong with the Chinese version. Have you tried Taste of India Garam Masala on eBay? There is a link to their site in the video description, they are humble spice experts.
Thank you steve for knowing the history ... of india ... i dont hate british people, im born here in england .... but i do hate the empire and the rroyals who dont have a moral bone in theor body to even do the decent thing and apologise.... they just acknowledge the wrongs ... but if they apologise they would be liable to repay the loot taken
The empire was appalling for millions throughout the world. The education curriculum has mostly hidden the horrors. I'm glad to have read countless books in my life as it's served as an alternative education.
I can just imagine the smell whilst you were roasting all these spices. How is it that we use whole spices at the begining of cooking and Garam Masala at the end? Could we not add GM after the onions have browned?
Whole spices added into the oil at the beginning of a dish infuse the oil and adding a little ground/Powdered Garam Masala at the end of cooking just heightens the flavour as it contains the more hearty tasting spices, so a small pinch works wonders in terms of taste 30 seconds or so before the end of cooking and mixed in.
Wow, Steven. I could almost smell it from here. I love the colours and textures of the whole spices.
Thanks so much
Informative and illuminating.

Glad you enjoyed it

The smell of black cardamom always reminds me of old holborn rolling tobacco.
Yes, đŹ smoky

Steve you are a ledge.
So are you for watching. Always appreciated
Nice one Steve I bet that cost a few bob
Thanks, flavour and history are priceless
Enjoyed the video not so much the Brit bashing which seems to be the norm these days.
Yes, the truth isn't always nice. But, I do know that it's political, not the fault of the average person.
I should add that most of the people who do like to make these selective history statements, do live here which is odd but not surprising.
