I have nothing but great things to say about this medication. I use to smoke for 6 years straight and I quit cold turkey, I lost a lot of weight and I am more patient now than ever. and my sleeping is pretty good now. depression went away and anxiety is gone. my memory hasn't been affected I actually feel like the dark cloud over me has left. I highly recommend being around healthy people and a healthy environment to help with your progress. also, i walk in parks and read a lot keeping myself busy. I really took this time to self-reflect and not take on too much and understand that right now for the next 8 months I had to help myself get better and it did wonders for me. I'm glad I found something soon enough rather than allowing myself to fall apart.

I took this for about a year or more. It supresses the anxiety alright, did good for that. Not sure if it did much good for depression but you end up not feeling much of anything at all. Neither happy or sad, just empty inside. Also slowed me down in many ways.
Hard to know what to do for the best sometimes. Its all a gamble🤷‍♂️.

It's done GREAT for my depression. However i am also suffering from very high anxiety which in turn makes me VERY coy to do much of anything without fear of the sky falling. all my cues being trigger at once; sweaty feet/palms, raised blood pressure, shaking and heavy breathing. almost crippling. This has done nothing on that spectrum unfortunately for me.

I started taking Lexapro about 7 months ago, and although it took almost three months to start working, I liked how I felt (way less anxious). Then, at about the 6 month mark, I started noticing two very troubling things: memory loss and increased appetite. The memory loss was pretty severe, and I would still feel hungry even after eating a big meal. My doctor told me to cut back to 5 mg (from 10) and "we'll see what happens". It's been about two weeks now and I am starting to notice my brain is coming back online. I was concerned: would I be anxious and stupid? Or would I be calm and focused, or some other combination? : )

Tried to discontinue from 2.5mg (taken for 2months). 6 days later severe anxiety attacks and ruminating came back. Returned to 2.5 mg and still trying to quit. Will probably lower the dose to 1.25mg and try again. Psychotherapy helps. Will follow through cbt therapy too. Its strange that such a low dose has an effect. I’m not sure if it is the medications, as I’m also on Risperdal. These side effects sound mild but they are really bothering me. I can’t live like this. Someone please help me! It is possible that the Lexapro is no longer working as it did in the beginning but combined with Risperdal may be dragging you into a "don't give a darn" attitude. (I have several family members with severe mental issues and I want to be first to say THAT IS NOT YOU. If you have a counselor that would be best, perhaps a different SSRI replacing the Lexapro. Also a nice chat with your pharmacist may help.

I'm highly surprised that they still have that drug on the market many years there was a class action lawsuit out against Johnson & Johnson. The risperdal medication cause breast tissue growth in young men. One case had got as bad as an autistic kid who had female breast and was lactating milk. Trust me bro I would consider taking something different but like I said the symptoms are kind of zombie like. Talk to your doctor to see if you can get something different. best of luck!!!

Probably because they use the word habit-forming, I think habit-forming refers to you crave it and want it for the feeling, I don't think people actually crave Lexapros feeling, but I do believe it's addictive is the point where if you stop taking it abruptly you will go into severe withdrawal. They use funny words to get around certain things. But yeah this is just like opiates or benzodiazepines, if you stop taking them you're going to get sick

@@mcd1192 It definitely causes depression. I am suffering with depression and anxiety. I am scared to try anything else because this is the 2nd antidepressant I reacted to. Escitalopram is the worst. I don't know about God talking to you. I have been a believer all my life and feel like He doesn't care what is happening to me. I wish He would just take me home.

Well he cares but his will is not the same as are will so we don't always know what he is doing. I ask cause my wife is having all these things and she been off and on with it she won't give it enough time to do anything. These are the symptoms she has from it

@@mcd1192 The side effects I was experiencing were horrendous and life changing that is why I got off if it. If your wife is not experiencing major side effects I would encourage her to keep trying. This medication has helped some people. If and when she experiences bad side effects she could maybe try changing to a different antidepressant. I am disappointed in the doctors I was going to because they had no clue what was going on with me. If the side effects become unbearable she needs to change right away. I didn't and I am now in the situation that I am in with perhaps irreversible physical damage. I wish you all the best.

@@CexpertCODModernwarfare I just took my first dose about 2 minutes ago. I'm honestly nervous about side effects, but hopefully I'll be fine. I tend to worry when taking any new medication. Thank you for replying!

@@MrMkapusta Just fine, trust me don't be nervous... U won't feel anything for about 3 weeks.... then when u do it's just a calming effect. Good luck. Dont wait, it will only delay the benefits.

Na sounds like these drugs make you worse the Doctors doesn't care they just put you on them, I'd rather pray JESUS as healed me many times during my anxiety experiences.
