The bell tower of Pieve Vergonte (Verbania) can be seen from the Simplon highway leading from Italy to Switzerland. Its elegant stone architecture gives a glimpse of the five beautiful bells, which were cast in 1930 in the diatonic scale of D major. In this video, the bells play some traditional melodies and a concert to celebrate a surprise wedding and a baptism.
The church in Vergonte was one of the first in the Ossola; tradition even has it that it was founded by the apostle Barnabas in 60 AD, by adapting a Roman domus. The first actual church was built in 407, as one of the eight parishes founded by the first bishop of Novara Gaudentius. This first church was remodelled over the centuries until the fateful 1328, when it was completely destroyed by the flood of the torrent. The second church was built on top of the previous one and served the parish community until 1630. The second church was rather low, which is why it was rebuilt from scratch. The present magnificent high altar was saved from the rebuilding of the previous church. From the previous church, the baptismal font was saved, on whose wooden door is the date 1583. The church is a jewel, starting with the body of the holy virgin Ursa, who was beheaded during the persecution of Emperor Decius in 250.

An excellent report about a nice church - one of many in Italy. A magnificent musical arrangement and an exhaustive historical overview of the buildings are the characteristic advantages of this author's reports. ここは高速62号線のスイスとの国境近辺ですね、マッターホルンも近くにいいところですね。ニ短調の鐘楼の仕組みが良くわかりました、とても美しいく綺麗です。作り変えた協会の扉に1583年とありますがこの時代にこの技術、流石ローマ帝国です。日本では1582年に本能寺の変があり興味深いです。詳しく鐘楼を見せて頂き有難うございました
