The main church located at the top of the Calvario mountain in Domodossola (Verbania, Italy) has a bell tower that towers over the entire valley, which houses eight bells sung in F major. The five larger bells were cast in 1900, while the three smaller ones were added during the Jubilee of 2000. The video captures the two main bell rings, including the traditional main ringing with one bell in motion and the others on hammers as if on a musical keyboard.
The shrine is dedicated to the Passion of Jesus and the Crucifix, built from 1657 on the mountain already inhabited by the ancient Romans. In 1415, Swiss soldiers destroyed the castle and from then on the hill was uninhabited until the arrival of the Capuchin friars. The hill was officially donated by King Philip IV of Spain on 15 April 1664, the main church was consecrated in 1690. Most of the Stations of the Cross were completed during the 18th century, while in 1810 Napoleon decided to suppress the monastic orders, driving the friars out. The convent was taken over in 1828 by Antonio Rosmini, who founded his institute dedicated to charity here. Since 1990, Sacro Monte Calvario has been one of the sites considered a nature reserve in the Piedmont region, while since 2003 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
