Astronaut, Chris Hadfield very kindly sent this Tweet and Google+ update today about a short animation that I made with my 4th class boys about the Moon Landing. He also features in the soundtrack performing 'Space Oddity' Live on RTE's Late Late Show.

    Well done lads!
One wonders, though, why you used 240,000 miles and not 386,000km? Do Irish school kids even know what a mile is?

Thanks Gary. I left it up to the kids to get the facts for this project, but I suppose it was an oversight on my part! It does fit in nicely to the soundtrack though if you take another look!

It does. And I suppose the mission was measured in miles. It surprised me, as I didn't expect 4th class to know what a mile is. They are, in effect, extinct in Ireland! (There is the occasional signpost left over from that almost Jussasic of eras...)
Kudos to you for doing this with the guys. I wish I had had a teacher like you when I was 10! ;-)

Cheers Gary.. I suppose I could put it down as part of the history lesson too.

;-) Miles and cubits. That would be an interesting lesson...
