a 1981 Polaroid Sun Camera advertisement presents one of the many famous pairings of James Garner & Mariette Hartley for Polaroid, followed by several NBC program promos
When James Garner & Mariette Hartley began shooting the Polaroid ad's, Mariette was only getting a base pay as an actress. When James Garner realized that he and Mariette had an appeal (not to mention were selling a butt-load of cameras), he called the brass and got her pay raised overnight. These ad's began running about one year after The Rockford Files ended. During the last season, Mariette was a guest star in one of the episodes. I wonder if that's how she got the camera gig?
I'm looking for the Polaroid camera commercial with the following dialogue: Garner: "Polaroid's One Step is the world's simplest camera" Hartley: "It's the WORLD'S simplest camera" Garner: "That's what I said" Hartley: "No, that what *I* said" Garner *stunned, slightly exasperated look to the tv audience*
Eh, they were okay for what they were. The version he has there is the deluxe auto-focus model, most of them had fixed focus which was the base 600 One Step and later 600 LMS.

Sometimes admen or women catch lightning in a bottle. At one point people thought they were a real married couple. Chemistry.
