Sonic has been on a roll these last few years. The momentum is amazing. Feels like the franchise is ready to take the spotlight again. Classic Sonic has also mastered grinding and the Shadow Clone Jutsu, just like his modern counterpart.

@@Funn11111There was an unlockable skill in Generations where you could do that, and 3D Blast had the Golden Shield. (And Sonic 4 kinda counts since it's 2D, but that game starred Modern Sonic, not Classic.)
And besides that, the Homing Attack was literally made for the 3D games out of NECESSITY, just like Z-targeting from Zelda (trying to jump on Badniks in 3D space back then was more difficult than in 2D).

I'm glad they're giving the Chaos Emeralds new abilities. It always felt strange how underutilized their powers were outside of Shadow using Chaos Control, and I especially like them differentiating them with different abilities so that the different colors actually mean something.

How are either reinventing the wheel? Like no hate, they look like great new entries in their respective series, but "reinvent the wheel" seems like an over exaggeration.

@@kyleh1494 The thing is they haven’t exactly lived up to that frontiers in my opinion was a good game but honestly if it was given the same amount of development time that most sonic games were given it would’ve probably been the same game assuming they didn’t fuck around for half of the development I agree I don’t mind waiting a while for new games but at the rate they have been going it almost feels like an excuse to just not make stuff which now finally feels like it’s changing with this new game which looks like it’s used up its development time

The return of fang is officially the best part of this game. 2.5D, bringing a beloved character back, and the possibility of the game having cutscenes without dialogue S3K style leaves so much room for more games and whole new trilogy!!!

Here here! Even if he's just a reoccurring boss, I'm happy the real Fang the Sniper is back at all. Fang is one of my favourite characters, and easily Sonic's most underutilised villain. His mirage cameo in Mania was nice at the time, but not a TRUE comeback for the character. This has been over 20 years in the making, and it's a dream come true for me!
If there's any voice acting in this game, I can think of tons of good picks for Fang, like Chris Patton, Todd Haberkorn, Yuri Lowenthal and Alejandro Saab. If any of these are chosen, I'll lose my shit
@Bufudyne I love Fang too! Have you ever read the Archie Sonic comics? He's in some of them & I think the IDW comics as well. I don't know if there will be voice acting in Superstars but I could definitely get behind those VA choices for Fang! 🤩

@@TheHammerGuy94 Sonic 4 was kinda like a Sonic equivalent to New Super Mario Bros. (more like the handheld NSMB games since it was single-player), just...not with the best execution. I actually kinda like Sonic 4 for what it is as its own game, but as what was supposedly a continuation of the classics it didn't work well.

FINALLY, a 3D game with Classic Sonic that has:
- No Green Hill
- No Chemical Plant
- No Sky Sanctuary
- Classic Sonic not being portrayed as a sidekick, but as a leader as he should be
- Classic Knuckles & Amy
- New Original levels and Powers
- Fang the Sniper

If you want more Adventure, try the Spark the Electric Jester series. 2 and 3 are really good fast paced 3D platformers and heavily inspired by the Adventure era.

What a cosmic coincidence that Sega and Nintendo decided to make call back side scrollers that capture the look & charm of their originals. The weirdest part is that Sega beat Nintendo to the punch lol!
GETTING IT!
This looks really great, like it's tailored to scratch that itch Sonic Mania left us with, you know the one, where everyone was like "This game is sick, but make a sequel with more original levels." The gameplay looks super-smooth, too, like I can see the flow of those classic Sonic the Hedgehog physics. Seriously can't wait to get my hands on this!
To be honest, I thought this was unofficial that was made by a fan but apparently, I was completely wrong. I'm glad to see Classic Sonic is back with a 2D formula. This game and the graphics looks really great in my point of view.
Agreed plus it seems we're getting original stages and zone gimmicks/power ups, if this is the trade off for Maina 2 then I'll take it.
Please for the love of Gaia and Tikal don't let this game be rushed or crunched!

Pretty good game. The spscial stages were actually fun and not too challenging, the 2nd story mode was also fun unlike mania's encore mode, which didn't feel like it changed the levels enough. For the next game, add a few more zones, more characters and allow super forms to skip bosses. 9/10

I think the classic sonic craze started with how amazing the 2D stages were in Sonic Generations, despite it's weird quirks. As long as we get something just as good and not Forces, I'm alright with this direction
