Every time something tears up on my 2005 Quest I am floored at how freaking hard it is to repair!!! It's like the worst designed van in the history of cars. I watched several videos about replacing spark plugs. The van in the video was an Odyssey...super easy. On the Quest? Hardest, most elaborate job ever. The mechanic had to unhook the wipers, tons of bolts and remove part of the intake just to access them. Of course my radio barely works. CD player was broken when I bought it in 2009. I thought about getting the radio fixed because it really picks up very poorly. Tons of static and dead zones. After watching this I think I'll just trade it in.....
This was an excellent video. I was looking for this a couple years ago but nothing to be found except for text walkthroughs and you know what they say, a picture is worth 1000 words. In this, 10K+. Thanks!
I own a 2004 Nissan Quest. The first nine minutes of this video are helpful to anyone who needs to remove the console for any other reason. I did not find your video until after the fact but I had to replace the shift lock solenoid and this video would have diffiently helped me. FYI - if you are going to replace your SLS you better learn how to repin a wiring harness first.
This was a GREAT help! I don't think I could have figured out all of this by myself. I used their services - linked from Ebay - and the repair worked. Turnaround was quick. Grateful to OEM/Family Car for their business. I also fixed my gearshift illumination light when I was in there -- for a twofer.
I was just about to order a 6.2 inch double din GPS touch screen DVD player for my parents Nissan Quest. Glad I watched this video first. Guess they'll just have to keep dealing with no working stereo. Thanks for making the video.
Very nice and most helpful video. I have been trying to get my radio out but never realized that the glove box and the panels on the driver's side had to be removed. Now I will get that darn thing out !
This is a repair issue we see common here in shop. However, we do no aftermarket installation. See several of your local installation shops for their opinion.
Your Awesome! Couldn't figure out how it goes thru the shifter knob. I'm just replacing the cover that is also cracked on mine. Must be a common thing for the oval plastic to crack. Thanks
that was very detailed and extremely helpful. I am considering buying a 2004 Nissan quest and it has a bad radio. I will not buy this vehicle now because of this. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for this helpful video. Do you hear from people that have had AM reception problems only? The AM cuts in and out, especially with vibrations like rough road surfaces (I'm an electronics engineer, and it's not just your typical AM reception issues), while the FM is fine. My guess was a loose ground of some kind since the antenna connection must be OK with FM working 100%. Any suggestions? If not, at least now I know how to pull it out and maybe try another unit. Thanks -
Thank you very much. This clip was very informative. I have a Nissan Quest 205 which dash is same as is in this video.I have it for almost year and one half. After while I had this quest any time I start the care, from dashboard and behind the control panel comes the sound "click, click, click and goes on for a while, some time after 30 second, some time after one minutes and some time less stops. I could not exactly determine where the sound come from, can you tell me if you ever had same kind experience, fi so how I may stop or repair it. I am in Shawnee, Kansas. I appreciate your help.
May the Eternal Bless you, I have a question you can remove the radio of the cd and mount a Jvc radio without having to use the factory connectors. I would like to assemble a stereo to my Quest S 2005, I will thank you for the information you can give me thanks
Thank you for this video, ours will click nonstop (randomly) and seems to be draining our battery...have you found the two issues to be related? I'd like to just disconnect completely to see but with it being so involved I thought I'd ask first. If so I'd probably be better off removing and replacing all at the same time if not.
Cost for repair ranges depending on single or 6CD changer, $125-295 plus return shipping with a one year warranty. See the link to "SHIPPING" at our website before sending for repair. Thank you.
Thanks, this was very helpful. One note about my reinstall--the connectors on the top panel were not completely unique. The connectors that go to the HVAC controls in the back and the the main HVAC controls in the front seemed to be interchangeable. When I put everything together the AC didn't work until swapping those two back to correct places.
This video was very helpful. I am just curious if the little connector in the back of the CD player needs to be wired to something else because the adapter kit I have doesn't have a place for those wires..
This is a common problem for this stereo. There is a chance we are able to repair this one. Normally, the micro processor goes bad along with 5 or 6 resistor packs. The processor if defective, is not available in the USA. You may want to look for a replacement.
I noticed the antenna connection in the back of the cd player. Our cd player works fine but we have a terrible time finding radio stations. I can only pick up a couple even in a big city. any ideas on what could be causing this?
Hi I have to replace my broken console I see you have to remove several plugs. My question is how do you know where all the plugs goes back. Are they all different sizes. And only fits in one particular place? I'm scared I put a plug in the wrong place.
I have an 05' Quest...the radio suddenly was working intermittently...now it has quit working completely. Not a fuse...would guess it is internal. Is this something you can repair...do you have an approximate cost if I were to ship it to you? Where do I find your shipping information?
Hey bro, i have a nissan Quest 2004 i just bought..... you know how i can play MP3 CD's? I just get the CD in the Stereo but i doesnt play... What can i do?
I have a 2005 Nissan Quest and can't move the sleeve down below the gear shift, as shown at about 1:10 in this video. It is solid plastic and won't move. Has anyone else had this problem? I even tried to grab it with plyers and move it but it won't move.
Hi Dear, I have Nissan Quest 09, its radio, CD player & DVD player LCD are not working, I checked all outside & inside fuses, all fuses are good, please help me What should I do or who can fix this. Thanks.
I was told by two different businesses that they can't do an aftermarket cause of the way the radio is set up. Mine broke months ago. Now it will sometimes make this noise like the CD part is searching for a cd. If you hit the side of the console (by the cd deck) it will eventually stop. I contacted Nissan about this issue since they knew about it a few months after the quest was released and they refuse to do anything. I will never buy Nissan again.
Such a POS the plastic cover that becomes super brittle and everything cracks. Then the heavy box underneath that has the air controls falls down...it's horrible. Never seen anything like it accept the quest. Good video though as I need to replace the plastic cover or just remove it all together.
WANT TO SEND RADIO OFF TO GET FIXED...I GOTTA DO ALL THAT...MANN!!!! TAKING IT APART DOES'NT WORRY ME...IT'S PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER THAT GIVES ME NIGHTMARES... =/

Thanks for the help. I was able to take the radio out in about an hour. Not bad for an old guy with hand problems.

Thanks
Excellant video one of the best I've seen. TY
thank you so much for making this video i had no idea how to approach this
As a people-mover, our 2005 Quest was great. As a well-engineered vehicle, not so much. The bright spot was the 3.5 V6.
that was very detailed and extremely helpful. I am considering buying a 2004 Nissan quest and it has a bad radio. I will not buy this vehicle now because of this. Thank you for sharing

Never installed aftermarket in this vehicle. My guess would be you loose the stereo on the display and steering wheel controls.

If CD player does not work and your Quest came with a DVD player not all came with DVD you can use the DVD player to play your CD
A combien on peut commander la boîte complète ?
If only I could see you replace this with an aftermarket system...what I hate about the van. I also want to change the dvd to a 4k or blu-ray player
