- If you're a parent, chances are pretty good you're looking for things to keep your kids busy. What better way than to teach them to work with their hands building birdhouses! It's a great way to introduce them to working with tools in a safe and supervised environment. Have fun with it!
You can find free birdhouse plans here: nestwatch.org/learn/all-about...
I was inspired by Bob at I Like to Make Stuff. Here's his Shop Class playlist: • Shop Class | I Like To...

What are some other fun projects to do with kids?
My son loves drilling :)
Your girls were doing a good job with the hand saw,but I know they were happy to be able to use the power tools. They did a great job, they should be very proud of their work.
Hand tools are no match for power tools in the cool factor with kids. They had an absolute blast with this, though! Thank you for the kind words, Rita!
That is a great project! They did a great job with the construction. A person can never have too many birdhouses. The birdhouses look like they were built with plenty of love and attention!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Bob! The girls loved it and are very excited for some birds to make their home in them. They are already planning out their next building project!
@@WhiteLabWorkshop You are a very lucky Man!
I very much agree!
Hello my friend. This is a good idea. To teach carpentry to children at home. Teaching how to build birdhouses for the love of nature. These are really good ideas. They seem excited and willing to do in children. Children see this work as a fun and beautiful game. It looks great with a beautiful fitting on the patio post of the house. I watched with admiration. I congratulate all of you. Thank you for sharing. I wish healthy and happy days to the family.
Great greetings.
Thank you, sir! My girls loved this project and have been asking for more. I suspect this shop class idea will continue for a long time.
@@WhiteLabWorkshop Girls are talented. This is a good situation. We are waiting for your new videos. healthy days. I wish you a happy week.
Very nice project, birdhouse looks so cool . Stay with my strong hug, my dear friend . Take care . I hope to see you again soon . Have a great day:) Warm greetings Gosia
Thank you for the kind words, Gosia!
Excellent project for the kids
Thanks, man! It’s a great time of year for it around here too.
this is awesome Brent! really enjoyed watching! Great to see how much the girls enjoyed building with you!
Thank you, Kirstie! My girls loved building and they loved seeing the video of them building. They have been planning the next build already, so there will definitely be more in the future 😁
White Lab Workshop that’s awesome! They will be taking over your channel before you know it 😜😁!!
Haha! That would be fun!
Awesome work teaching the kiddos my man! Great work all of you🙏🏻🤙🏻
Thank you, sir! We had a blast!
Great project and bonding experience. I think they did great
Thanks, Harki! We had a blast!
AWESOMENESS Maybe a suggestion to put a smile dowel under entrance some birds like to perch before entering. I know a certain Nana that would love one😉
Jane Lee Chickadees apparently don’t need a perch because the birdhouse experts at nestwatch.org suggest not having the dowel. We do have some extra material, though, and the helpers are very excited to build something else after watching their video! Stay tuned!
Some of my favorite memories as a kid were making things with my dad. Now you guys have a great bird feeder and memories that'll last a lifetime. 😀
That’s exactly what I’m hoping for: building memories and lifelong skills! Thank you so much for watching!
That is awesome to get your children involved. You are awarded the father of the month again and it is official. The children use tools better than I do!!!! great job!!!
Haha! Thanks, Richard! The girls are getting very comfortable with some of my tools. They’ve been scheming ideas for the next project!
Great work buddy! 👌👍 I did the same a few weeks ago with my kids. They absolute enjoyed it! 👍
Thanks, man! It’s fun to get the kids involved!
That is fantastic, Brent...keeping the kids busy with something other than a screen! Teaching them great skills, having family time...I love it! My next video is a bird feeder...great time for videos like this.
Thank you, Stan! That’s exactly what I was thinking. There’s a lot of monotony these days and we needed something to spice things up. The girls had a blast.
Looks like you had a lot of fun with your daughters 😁 great to see some young and enthusiastic little ones 👍
Thanks, Grant! We had a blast! This definitely a “do again” idea. The girls are already thinking about what to build next 😁
@@WhiteLabWorkshop may i suggest kazoos? 😁
Haha! That sounds more like punishment to me as the parent who has to live with them after they make one 😆
@@WhiteLabWorkshop shucks, you figured be out 🤣
Haha!
Excellent work. Wonderful house 👍
Thank you!
For you next video can you please demonstrate how to teach the kids to sand, clean, prime and paint decks and railings? 😁
Haha! That seems like a great video for your channel! You can call it The Eclectic Handyman’s Hard Labor Camp for Kids! 😆
I love it seems like fun
It sure is fun! And they turned out great! Wouldn’t you agree? 😁
Great video. Thank you!!!
You are welcome! And thank you too!
This is amazing! I wish more parents were like you, many of the students I teach have never used tools before and are scared of using basic tools. Great job!
Thank you very much, Dean! My kids love to learn how to use tools. It’s fun for all of us and gives them some good life skills!
What an awesome time! Getting to make something and have quality family time. Great video!
Thank you, sir! Family time is the best!
Great project Brent! I like how you get your kids involved in the shop regularly! Keep up the good work and congrats on your growth on CZcams.
Thanks, Jeff! It’s more fun when I can involve my kids. And thanks for the kind word about growth! Who knew that people would actually be interested in seeing what I work on? 😁
Cool project and something great to get the kids involved with too, I was pretty young when first helping my grandad making his, not sure how much help I was but it was fun just to be out there. Stay safe buddy!
Thank you, Pog! I’m sure your grandpa wasn’t worried about how much you helped, just that you were there with him. That’s the important part.
Cute video well done
Thank you!
Awesome
As a safety course must not let your kids placing the clamps with the metal bit upwards....!!!
