If you think the pictures were great..you should have lived it...that's the basic meaning. We can have amazing memories but no one can clearly understand it unless you lived the pictures. It's kind of like a movie is Never As Good As the book. Stay blessed beautiful couple❤
Great reaction guys. The song is actually a metaphor, "you should have seen it in color", is actually saying like you had to be there, and seen it with your own eyes. Keep up the good work.
I always picture my grandparents...in the great depression and in WWII..!! They lived it and now all I have ever seen is black and white pictures!!! They're gone and passed on now...!! All I can do is close my eyes and imagine in " Wonder ". When my grandpa Burroughs won his "Golden Gloves " championship ..I've wondered what it would be like to see that ??? All I saw was a news clipping ..that was in Black and white !!!
Back when pictures were only black and white, for you to "see it in color" you actually had to be there, that is what he is saying in this song. The pictures are black and white but his memories are in color.
Country Music tells life the way it really is and rock and such tells life the way it would be if this happens or that happens like in a fairy tale or make-believe world!
Jamie Johnson is what country music should strive to be. His live shows are amazing. Imagine several thousand people singing the chorus of IN COLOR. Its absolutely incredible, the way it makes you feel. Thank you for sharing this video with us.
My grandparents are nearing their high 90s, they lived through all of this. They've told me stories about their childhood, living through the great depression, my grandma about her family immigrating between WW1 and 2, losing five younger siblings between the trip from Germany to Canada to Louisiana, they didn't even get names because they weren't expected to live until they were weaned and still healthy. They just died being known as "the baby". People today think words and hurt feelings are hard to deal with and poverty is having government housing, welfare, healthcare and free phones. Our grandparents and great grandparents experienced actual hardship and poverty. The deadly kind, we owe it to them to be thankful for this great world they've built for us.
I love this song. My grandfather said something similar to me. He said that you can look at pictures and later at TV, but to really see something you have to see it in person or live it. I love your reactions and thank you for living a little of your life with us.
I just wanted to drop you guys a quick note, Yall are doing what actually needs to be done across America, We all have our culture, it is refreshing to see yall step out and understand other music. Which music is a story of our lives we experienced and you guys rock, I as a combat vet, applaud yall but you two will not know how much you have made all colors and see what we all have in common. You guys do not know how much good your doing BRAVO
You know what I enjoy is that black folks are starting to venture out of their comfort zones and they are realizing how much has been kept from them. I don't how many times with all these reaction channels that the viewer says "I didn't expect that". Its fun to watch. We are all lied too just remember that in the end we all bleed red. Lets make sure we never see it though.
To me the meaning is simple. It's not about colored pictures over those black and white. It's simply saying, "you should have been there." Love this song. Glad y'all did this one. Keep up the good work y'all! 🤠
This song is very special for a specific reason, it's describing the life of a man from the Greatest Generation. If you were a child that lived (on a cotton farm) through the Great Depression, you REALLY knew what being poor was. Your childhood was spent working hard just to have food to eat and clothes to wear. And if you were a bomber pilot during WW2, you REALLY knew what terrified was - being in a large, slow aircraft that was constantly shot at by enemy fighter planes and anti-aircraft weapons. These men are mostly gone now. They raised today's boomers and were responsible for putting this country on a path to great prosperity.
Commenting while it plays cause I'm already crying 😢. My family is Irish and my grandpa was a cotton farmer during the depression and my mom and her seven siblings worked that farm. I was the last grandchild my grandpa was able to know; he went to Jesus when I was three. I look at the pictures in black and white and I feel sad cause I wish I could have seen more of his life in color and I remember he loved me so much. I'm blessed I got to see his smile and twinkling blue eyes in color . That's the thing about music, it can mean something to so many people in the same way or different ways. The true universal language. 💗 I love all genres too. Country music always has storytelling so good.
I didn’t really appreciate this song at the time it was released but it’s one of my favorites nowadays. So deep and simple in its meaning and delivery, like an old school country storytelling song. Great reaction!
This is one of those songs that make you think the hell and heaven your ancestors went through so we can have it so easy today. Always loved listening to great grandparents and grandparents and parents stories.
When you find yourself trying to sing along with a song you've never heard before. That's when you know your soul has been touched!!! Only music has that kinda power on this earth!!!!
I always have felt like this song is such a positive endorsement of life and the moments that happen throughout it. Looking back with fondness on the things, good or bad that happened. Just a positive song.
Young folks don't realize pictures back in the day were all in black and white. You shot a roll of film, sent it off to be developed which took weeks. Color pictures finally became available in the late 1950's to early 1960's. Not everyone owned or could afford a camera. Times have changed drastically. Great review you two. Jamie Johnson is one of my favorites.
What Up y'all, Jamey is a songwriter, George Strait did one of his songs GIVE IT AWAY, the rest is history, seen it in color, means, you should have been there.
HELL YA NOW WE TALKIN ...some true country music and a damn legend ....jamey is a badass and a og in true country and has written alot of chart winning songs for people .....love me some jamey johnson .......
Love the reactions! Have seen quite a few lol.. "Should of seen it in color"...Should of been there. Great song. Get a lil teary sometimes listening to that song. Keep em coming beautiful couple!
What up you 2 beautiful people 💜 happy to see this Jamey Johnson is a true gem 💎 love him. You really should check out his song HIGH COST OF LIVING 🔥🔥🔥 Jamey has written many top county hits for some of country's greatest Artist ever. He's definitely an unsung hero I just love some of his songs really hit you in the heart. Happy to see y'all today 🥰😘😘😘💜
So glad you did this song! Felt like Christmas morning 🤗 Great song! And do keep in mind, country music utilizes metaphor a LOT. Maybe more than any other style of music. You can’t take the lyrics at face value.
He's pretty much saying you should have seen it in person. Like how you can see pictures of the past or even now but you wouldn't understand unless you were there. Love you two and God bless!
That was the greatest generation....Fought the Germans, then hit the depression, then fought the germans and Japanese, came out of the depression survived multiple pandemics...crazy my grandfather grew up barefoot with a dirt floor in farm country Canada..winters with no shoes..
I love this song, definitely one of my favorites. I really love watching you guys. I always see so much positivity and love. When you guys smile I can tell you mean it. Thank you for this great channel.
I love country for this very reason. The one thing that sticks out that wasn't said, listen to the "old folks" stories about their lives and what they went through. Old pictures don't say much but his words gave it life and color.
A new subscriber!! Luv you both. I'm a country girl luv seeing y'all react to some of my fav country songs. I have laughed and cri d with you today!!!!💚❤️💚❤️
I have pictures from iraq and afghanistan people look at and I have so many stories to tell. Great song. Just found your channel today. You guys seem real, down to earth. will be watching more!
I'm a vet from a long line of vets. (Like LT. Dan) haha. I've always taken this song as when you're gone or at the end of the day...our lives are left as pictures that can't be fully explained.
After my Dad passed this Song came out..Dad was in ww2 Uncle Joe was his Best Man..He picked cotten in the great depression. Mama's eyes were blue her Rose was red.. We had pictures black and white covered the dining room table after he passed...This is my Dad's Life.
Blake Shelton - Boy’s Round Here is a fun one . Toby Keith is another good one to check out his fun songs and videos. Being there, is more real than a picture.
You guys are awesome to have an open mind to listen to this... I love Soul to Country to HipHop to Rock n Roll. Some folks just like certain music and never give different genres a chance. This song is one of my favorites. My other is Sade's Kiss of Life. Music makes the soul feel better 😊
The song is partly saying that when you look at photos from the past that are black in white, we tend to feel it was a less vibrant time... To say "you should have seen it in color" is saying the sky was just as blue and the grass was just as green as it is now.
Have to say !! You guys are awesome. I could hang out with ya .. When my daughter was younger she would deepen her voice and try to sing this when it came on the radio ..
I'm 70 years old and all the pictures were in black and white, I got married in 1974 and bought my wife a color t.v. she had never had a color t.v. we are still together. Y'all are great couple, Remember if a storm comes, Bend like the oak tree.
My favorite memory with this song I was 18 years old and I just had a stroke my grandfather was setting me up with my next round of medicine And I happen to be watching a Jamey Johnson concert on TV and he played this song and I remember looking over at my grandfather standing steel as he listened and by the end of the song you could see the emotion in him and I asked him I said is it true and he said yes the story as Jamey tells it is he use to go through old photos with his grandpa and his grandpa would tell him that the picture didn’t do it justice you should of seen it in color
Jamey Johnson's album That Lonesome Song,of which this is the first release,IMO is 1 of the most important albums in country music ever. Before hearing it I figured I would live out my life spinning old Waylon,Haggard etc albums for the rest of my life. This album showed me good country was still alive, just had to look for it,because radio wasn't going to play it.Through Jamey Johnson I found Whitey Morgan, from there Cody Jinks and now a lot of good artists
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Personally, country music speaks to me because of how I grew up. I do like music in many genre's, but country is my favorite.
Man y'all have to be my favorite reaction channel. Loving the family vibe, and the open minded unbiased opinions. Remind me of people I kick it with, God bless you guys and the little one.

I don’t care how many times I hear this song, it always sends chills up and down my spine. Love the song.
It makes me cry every time.
He’s got a ton of great songs, him and Chris Stapleton need to make an album together
“You should have seen it in color” is a southern expression for “you should have been there.”much love from NC!
For real I've heard that my whole life and you're spot on. Cameras will never catch the beauty that the eyes behold.
Lexington NC here. Same.

And that my friends is why we like country music.

@@stonecoldcowboy1817 and EVERYONE is welcome.
@@greggreg385 I don't think these others heard you say that so you may want to tell them again bro.! LOL
Jamey is one of my favorite country singers, he sounds more to the older country singers from back in the day! Glad y’all did this one!
Jamey Johnson is phenomenal !
He’s the last real one
Same. I wonder if he inspired Chris Stapleton a little bit.
He wrote this song and others while in prison. Don't hold me to that, just what I heard through the grapevine.
When he says “in color “ he means seeing it in person
Right, in color means should have been there and experienced it
Exactly
Exactly. I just posted the same thing. I didn't back read. Sorry
Jamie Johnson is what country music should strive to be. His live shows are amazing. Imagine several thousand people singing the chorus of IN COLOR. Its absolutely incredible, the way it makes you feel. Thank you for sharing this video with us.
He's just as good live too, if not better.
When he's saying you should have seen it in color it's meaning, you should have been there. A picture only tells so much. 😁 ❤
The stories of Country music and the imagery the singers portray, make that genre special.
I love how a lot of the songs lay out a story
I think what he's saying when he says "you should have seen it in color" is that you should have been there in time.
As everyone else, this is a metaphor for living it. And believe me seeing it in color brings a whole other level to this song and life

“Should have seen it in color.”
Means: you should have been there. Seen it in real life. Not a picture.
Deep, deep song but then, Jamey is one of Nashville’s top songwriter.
Supposedly he wrote this for George Strait and he said he couldn't, it was too beautiful that he needed to sing it.
