Try 45 the bottom of your timbers for your risers Ryan, it will save you a tonne of work (you will be able to trowel or mag underneath them while pouring) Also if you can spray the inside of your form with diesel prior to pouring or even use formply (marine ply) few little tricks that are guaranteed to help you 🇦🇺
I have to say that I can understand people saying having junior is a waste of money because from a strictly business standpoint he isn't the most productive employee. Assuming you pay him a reasonable wage which I have no doubt you do, it would be tough to justify having him with the company. That said I commend you for employing him and think it's great. It gets him up and going and he has purpose. I don't know what his situation is nor do I care to guess or speculate. But I myself have an older brother who isn't diagnosed as autistic, but a similar disorder. He's relatively high functioning, but not entirely home all the time. He works part time with a landscaping company. Hes capable of running a push mower, running wheel barrels about and the like. He certainly isn't making the company rich, at least not monetarily. But he does bring a great attitude that rubs off on everyone around him. I've been watching your videos for a little while now and love them. You guys do some amazing work. I'm a carpenter but have had some time doing formwork and some basic concrete deck landings, small pads and the like. But I've never met a concrete guy as laid back as you are! Those guys of yours are lucky man!

I subcontract drywall and framing I have had a Daryl Jr with me for over 7 years. I actually had to fire a couple guys for bullying him when I wasn't around I felt terrible for him. But I tell you what he was at work everyday and never late.. he kept me humble and to this day there isn't anything I wouldn't do for him.. Daryl Jr is a good guy he might not be the sharpest tool but if he helps your day go a little faster and puts a few extra smiles on your face he is worth whatever he makes.. you are a good man and I wish there were more like you..
As a nurse for 49+ years, I can see certain things. I will not point out deficiencies that happen naturally because I believe most of us can see that it just happens that way randomly in human beings…in many, many ways…for the most part. Why it happens is not my focus, but when it does…we can still appreciate, like Ryan does…every beautiful feeling that we are given through the situation. IDK how other people perceive things differently from how the rest of us do….but we LOVE what the Daryl Jr’s of our world give to us….simply and absolutely naturally!

Love the video what I've seen so far (not finished yet). One thing you may or may not find helpful when doing steps. I was taught to cut a bevel on the bottom of the riser. It helps prevent air bubbles under it that need patching later and allows you to get the trowel over the entire top of the step. We used to just run the risers through a portable table saw and give them a 45. Other than the risers I loved the video. Great job.

You heard the other day they said if JR was there all the forms would have been rinsed and put away already. Every job is important to the team. And he raises everyone's spirits that makes the jobs look even better!
I always keep these two cans of spray silicone in the cab of the truck in case I forget or we run out of form oil for the small jobs...seems to work pretty good.
Ryan I just saw on a CG Schmidt job in Milwaukee they had small remote controlled concrete pumps. The unit itself had to only be 3 1/2’ wide and maybe 5’ long and probably 3’ tall. All controlled by a handheld controller. They were using on to pour a floor two stories underground in a basement.

Man steps are a lot of work. Buckets and sticky concrete makes is so much "easier" great job and keep getting that easy money! 👏
Love the video what I've seen so far (not finished yet). One thing you may or may not find helpful when doing steps. I was taught to cut a bevel on the bottom of the riser. It helps prevent air bubbles under it that need patching later and allows you to get the trowel over the entire top of the step. We used to just run the risers through a portable table saw and give them a 45.
Other than the risers I loved the video. Great job.

I always keep these two cans of spray silicone in the cab of the truck in case I forget or we run out of form oil for the small jobs...seems to work pretty good.

Ryan I just saw on a CG Schmidt job in Milwaukee they had small remote controlled concrete pumps. The unit itself had to only be 3 1/2’ wide and maybe 5’ long and probably 3’ tall. All controlled by a handheld controller. They were using on to pour a floor two stories underground in a basement.
