I love the comments left by the hardcore COF fans all upset that Blayne didn't take reviewing the album seriously just because he made some rather amusing jokes during the review. Reality check! It's very common for a reviewer of an album to not necessarily be a fan of the style or band in particular. He was very upfront that he wasn't all that into this style of metal but also mentioned many aspects of the album that he did enjoy. He also mentioned that if you are a fan of COF that you're going to love the album and likely not agree with his score/opinion. But that's what a review is when you get down to it. It's someones opinion. Personally i really enjoyed this review and look forward to 100% more reviews each week!!! Cue the goth shit...
I thought it is a fun review, but man. This album is easily 9/10 and in my opinion one of the albums of the year. Just give it a listen, you wont be disappointed. I waited 20 years from Cradle to drop such masterpiece of an album.

Those qualities get watered down when that's all there is. They can better be used like the word “fuck”, or spice - to enhance the message itself. Overuse just makes the words, or meal, unpalatable.
I'm a fan of old school Cradle and some of their newer stuff, and I think this is definitely their best effort in years. I should be mad at you for saying "goth shit", but seriously, there's no other way to describe it. And it totally cheeses the whole thing up, which ruins a lot of parts for me. Especially when the keyboardist does her spoken word goth shit with a British accent. She's fucking Canadian! Uggggh.

I agree I am not inspired with the new stuff. It was more fun and more compelling with Jessica as the backing vox. Also this new line up does not have that dark heavy riff productive sound. Dani, is also not in his 20s. It just feels aging at this point beyond Midian album.

I prefer the Goth shit that Tribulation currently produces, as it's aesthetically authentic. Also, I think you guys should do a review of the new Wolves in the Throne Room, "Thrice Woven." They are a band that pushes the boundaries of the art in new directions with each release. I'm sure it will please many of the Black Metal purists as well, certainly more so than Cradle of Filth. The second track, "The Old Ones are With Us," contains more raw emotion and sorrow than any operatic/Goth keyboard-composed offering.
Another entertaining review, even if I disagree with the rating (4/5 from me).
