I was a smart decision Edelbrock made when the bought the rights to build the Carter AFB it was and is one of the most trouble free carbs made. They may not be as easy to modify as a Holley, or as complicated and finicky as a Quadrajet, but its a good set it and forget it carb.
Sounded better then I expected. Head gaskets might be next though, I have what looks like exhaust smoke coming out of the water jacket if I run it for 20-30 seconds. It's a good engine, 4 bolt main and low miles since it's last rebuild, just sat for many years and most the soft parts dry rotted away.
