    This is why I love what you're doing Justin, I don't think I've ever seen this song reacted to before. Great Freddie ballad, yes, as always, John. Keep it up 👍

    Thanks, Justin.. Freddie's voice is amazing, and the melody so beautiful... (and such great harmonies) hardly anyone listens to this.. I love it.. appreciate your reaction...

    Freddie vocals are awesome! Beautiful use of the mixed voice and a soft and velvety low register,great!
    John's work on bass deserves to be highlighted, too. Great combination with Freddie's piano playing.

    I read comments and many people say how it is a simple little song. Actually, this song has 23 chords in it. That is one of the amazing things about Freddie who could make a song of 23 chords sound like it has 4 or 5. (Same thing with We are the champions)

    • @ZENOBlAmusic
      @ZENOBlAmusic Před 4 měsíci +5

      Yes, exactly! Freddie had an great gift of writing quite complex music that is still catchy and easy to listen to.

      @@ZENOBlAmusic Thing that I admire even more is his knack for very unusual combinations of chords. He could use some regular chords and combine them in such a strange ways, but still get a catchy song (The miracle, for example, but there is more)

    Each member of Queen shines here. Love writers. Cole Porter Mozart Chopin Mercury … my favorite composers. Good song. Like the lilting feel it has. And Freddie restrains himself perfectly to fit the feeling. TY Justin ✌🏼

    I love when people know music but are not familiar with some of these deeper cuts get to hear them for the first time. Those of us who are older and from the "album generations" knew all of these songs because we listened to albums as though they were a book, from beginning to end, as they were intended and it became kind of musical journey. Thank you for going through all of these albums. As you get to the later albums you will start to see where Roger finds his groove with writing for Queen instead of writing as he does for his solo stuff. Roger admits that he is not a prolific songwriter and he seems to find his inspiration in spurts which as rule went to his solo ventures. With Roger for Queen songs, you have things like Drowse, I'm In Love With My Car and then you later have things like It's A Kind Of Magic that really lets you see his growth. Tame is true for John, they find their way into the Freddie/Brian place and begin to write for the group as opposed to just writing a song that they throw out to the band.

    “Jealousy” was the only single of the band released in the USSR (Russia). In 1980, the song was included to the list of songs for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. “Don’t Stop Me Now” was the B-side to “Jealousy” in the USSR. Wow!! Brian has a bit of piano wire on his frets, so he can sound a bit like a sitar. Good ol’ Brian. 🎸🎶

    This is one of my personal favourites. John Deacon’s bass at the end, the chord progressions, harmonies and Freddie’s vocals and piano of course are just great on here. Plus, I’ve related to this song quite a while back ago.

    This song follows a style that Freddie used in his songwriting starting with Nevermore, then Lily of the Valley, then Love of My Life, then You Take My Breath Away - and it's fair to say that Freddie took it to another level with each album and this kept it interesting. He had one more of this type, which appeared 3 albums later on The Works - It's a Hard Life. Jealousy is a nice song and pleasing to the ears - at the same time, there's nothing new here - if you had been following Queen at the time, - you'd basically heard it before with one of the others I mentioned. I would say that this song does stand out on Jazz and for me is the third best song - but I'd also say if you placed it on any of the previous albums, I'm not sure it would rise that high because those albums were filled with so many very good songs. Very interested in your reactions once you get past Bicycle Race.

    It's not flashy, but for my money this might Freddie's best vocal. The changes are clever, Freddie was always smart about that, and trying to stay in tune singing along to this is not easy.

  • @marvalstith2749
    @marvalstith2749 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Oh I never heard that at the end. Pls consider reacting to Freddie singing from Album "Barcelona", "How Can I Go On" with Montserrat Caballe' (yes Diva Opera singer,). Anyway Freddie got John Deacon to do the bass on that, said after doing a couple runs on it --- said he needed John on bass.

    Someone mentioned the veena instrument used in India. Maybe a relative to the sitar. Farookh Bulsara parents were born in Bombay India where he also attended boarding school.

    Great eyebrow lilt expression with Freddy's last note! CMU! Brian's tonal ingenuity before digital...I think The Beatles used an electric Sitar on Norwegian Wood, and not sure what Denny Dias (Steely Dan), used on "Do it Again" (to get the sitar sound). 25K subs, J., Nice...go celebrate!

      Coral Sitar. Set up as electric guitar with extra sympathetic strings. Hackett (Genesis) used one in I Know What I Like, Howe (Yes) used one in Close to the Edge.

    I am no pro on the ins and outs of what might be called "band basics"...but your mention of the meld between John's bass and Freddie:s piano reminds me to ask -- John is always behind Freddie when he's at the piano. He might move slightly but is tethered. With Freddie's metronome timing on the keys, who is actually setting the pace? They seem to be in sync and flow seemlessly I see the John & Roger connection when Freddie is vocals only....

    • @coreywilliams923
      @coreywilliams923 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Two of John's favourite spots on stage; off Freddie's right shoulder when he's at piano, or in front of (sometimes facing) Roger's Bass drum. These positions help him 'feel' the music and lay the right groove.

    Great album track. I'm surprised it was released as a single in the US, though. It's good, but doesn't quite have that extra shine on it that you'd expect from a single. I guess that's why it failed to chart. A comfortable, listenable respite between Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race, that's easy on the ear.

    Sounds pretty lazy to me. Maybe echos of Kurt Weill/Cabaret? I dunno. My jazz rating: 3/10, because I can imagine Ella doing this.
