I have one steel wheat penny 1943 or 1944 I can’t remember I hid it so I wouldn’t accidentally use it or lose it. But I’ve misplaced it haha. I have a question though I have one side to a penny that looks like it’s just half a shell of a penny is that something?

I acquired a set of 5 proof quality 1943 Steel cents about 15 years ago while visiting my girlfriend's mother in Philadelphia. We had coin collecting in common and she gifted me the set. They are beautiful! I absolutely enjoy seeing them in such a pristine condition as I have many others that are not so nice to look at.

Your "proof quality" coins were plated, as were untold millions of other steel cents. No Prooflike steel cents have been certified by PCGS, NGC, or ANACS, although a few of the "Star" NGC's look like satin proofs (we actually have one listed on Ebay). Researcher Walter Breen believed that proof steel cents were minted but, again, none have ever been certified.

Turns out my great grandfather was one of the people who clipped and shaved coins to sell as errors back in the day (at least that is my assumption).. I was going through his old collection that I just found out he had and there was a film tube filled with clipped pieces and shavings of silver dimes and also a couple rolls of '43 steel cents. Next time I get the chance, I'll have to run a magnet over them lol

Wow I am so amazed at how much knowledge you have and almost embarrassed at how little I have , all the years I’ve been collecting , working 60 + hours a week never actually did the research , never had time . Thank you 🙏 I “may” have some treasures .
Many years ago (80’s )I worked in the fast food business and was a manager , counted $ daily and found coins pretty much everyday & just bought them back. Bought collections from old folks wanting to sell & dad gave me a few...... next couple years I will be working about 30 hours , will have time to look close & send off if warranted.

@@debbierandolph5293 Don't take it to anyone. Some people out there are crooks. Get yourself a USB coin microscope, a small scale that weighs in grams, and a 2021 or newer Coin Red book from Ebay. Get to work, it's fun! Also you can look up each coin value on CZcams. But never walk into a shop and drop off your coins and ask how much. I'm not saying all are bad but a coin price can jump from &100.00 to several thousands. Also never wipe off or clean any coin.

Interesting, I actually have a 1943 steel penny in perfect condition I've had for a very long time. I saw your re-conditioning video as well. You may laugh but I got it in the grocery store from a vending machine as a kid for a nickel and kept it in the little plastic egg that it came in the all these years (around 40). Today was the first time I put a magnet against through the little egg and it stuck! I'm like is this real? Do I have a perfect condition 1943 steel penny? I can't even remember if I got lucky getting this or if there was other stuff in the vending machine in 1980 but I do remember walking up to it, inserting the coin, getting my prize and saying crap I just spent a nickel on a penny before putting it in my pocket.

I'm still sketchy about the 1943 coin I have as it doesn't have the reconditioning attributes in his video. But it does have a slight not so smooth surface. Though the good news is found in my small collection is a 1950 penny with mint errors. Of course I posted it on Facebook saying I had a $1,000,000 penny for sale with my mothers birth year. insert laughing emoji here

I began collecting steel pennies in 1949 when I was a paperboy and received them from my customers along with a lot of other interesting coins. I still have about 15 of them in a variety of conditions although most are not badly worn. Some a silvery in color while others are a flat grey in appearance. I question if any of them would be worth the expense of having them graded by PCGS and secondly if I would really want to sell them after all these years.

I once got a bunch of wheats from a bank teller that she had in her till. About 40 wheats most were 1943 steel cents. One was bronze plated. I kinda skipped a beat when I saw it. Fun to find in change.

I'm fairly new to collecting and I have afew steelies that weigh 2.98g plus and minus .01 aswell as 1 @2.48g. All are magnetic aswell and all are ms+ quality. Its hard to find info about over/under weight coins anywhere for this year aswell as values for these that are not copper/bronze planchet. Curious if these weights are on the more common side? I gather common weight is 2.70 give or take within 0.13.

worth 16 cents - 20 dollars on the high end, should be flat grey, if shiny then was re plated and not worth anything

Can anyone help me with this question plz... The coin shown at 4:53 being a 1943 double curved clip penny. I am curious to know what the dots are being shown behind his head. What are those? I have a 1947 wheat penny that has many of those dots displayed on the front side, right above the date and runs through Lincoln's collar and head, so they're multiple rows of these black dots that occur on my coin. Also, does anyone know what the name is for whhen those dots do appear too? I feel like it's an error coin but idk right verbiage to use for it. Also, on the back side I have letters that didn't fully form and has major black blob marks. Example: on backside the top of the S letter in States, the very top from curve point to end point of S is not there but a big black mark is. The black also went on to the T but letter is whole. The O in of, also has a portion missing and black blob is there too, as well as 2 separate black blob spots on the wheat leaf. One where the stem and wheat met at bottom and also on top of the wheat symbol where it ends prior to the 10 lined portion that runs above it. Now on both front and back of coin I can see raised bubbles and pinhole dots all over it. Just a little extra info on this coin, it legitally sat in a wooden box with military uniform pins since 1950. So it never had long time to be in circulation in 1st place. 100% I know this is not circulation damage, this has to be mint error, but unfortunately I am not that good at remembering the exact names per type of errors. Definitely appreciate any input one can provide to me. Thanks
