I have been collecting for 40 years. I started at age 10 with my grandmother. I kept a rolls of cents from each year. Excluding proof coins, I have one roll each of each mint starting in 1986. It's a really good idea for new collectors to start doing this, and after the years go by you can pick a rainy day and see what you've got. I also inherited my grandmother's coins. Multiple rolls of wheat cents and Indian cents. I did search those and was lucky to come up with a 1922 no mint mark Lincoln cent in very fine condition. I haven't had this slabbed ,yet but I plan on it. Happy Hunting!! Great content on this channel

If your 1944s are copper they aren't worth much more than 1 penny. I have several also. You need a 44 steel penny or a 43 copper penny to make some good money!

    1. Have ever seen a 1992 steel penny?

I’m very new at coin collecting and I have found errors on a bunch. I still have 20 rolls left. Any advice how to value some of these. I have a 1956 wheat with no mint mark but the 6 barely shows and penny is in vary good condition.

My dad collected coins in the mid 1950s and used to search bags of pennies from his local rural bank back then. Most valuable penny he found at that time was a 1914D. Not in great but decent condition, and found at a time when there were certainly more in circulation than would be found now. He actually filled his collection up to the early 60s with every standard Lincoln cent except for the 1909VDBS and the 1931S. All found by searching bags of pennies. Back then it was also not uncommon to come across a few of the later indian pennies which he found also. Ah, the good ol' days!

The Flying Eagle (small) Cent described as an "1853" (#5, 09:41 of the video) was issued in 1856 (as shown in the images).
Pattern coins (trial strikes of proposed coinage designs) of cents had been made in variations of the Flying Eagle design in 1854 and 1855 as well, the design having its roots in the Christian Gobrecht Dollars that were minted from 1836 - 39 which are considered by many to be the most beautiful U.S. coin issued for circulation.
The 1856 FE Cent and 1864 Small Motto Two Cent are both truly pattern coins, but have long been included as part of the 'set' of the series they spawned. Pattern coins are a whole other fascinating world of United States coinage with many examples of astounding beauty, most struck in proof finishes and having been stored carefully over the years.

I'm a 71 yrs old man. When I was a young boy I would always keep coins that looked different than they should. Since I was about 10 yrs old, I have had a Bronze or Copper (I don't know which) 1943 Lincoln Penny. It didn't have much wear on it but it has very many marks on it. When I was about 15 or so, I got a loop lens and started looking at my collection of coins. Walking Liberty Half's and Liberty Silver Dollars are my favorites. Anyway, When I got the loop lens is when I realized that the Lincoln penny was a 1943! Unlucky for me ( I think) is all the marks on it from what I guessed to be from a grinder that it along with many others were put in to prepare them to be melted down and somehow it got thrown out on to the floor and a worker picked it up and put in his pocket, or it was in the road and got ran over be a vehicle. Its really a shame. I still have it and all my other coins and for the past month I have been looking them over and grading them according to the 2019 R.S. Yeoman Official Red Book. Getting them ready to sell since i'm nearing the end of my life. I'm having a delightful time looking at them again after so many years, even still I look at my change but don't get much now days I use my credit card for about everything LOL. Last week I ordered a digital microscope and started really seeing much more than with a loop lens! I've come across some coin errors that aren't in the book! So far I've looked at about 400 coins and have along ways to go. I didn't realize until this past week that I have thousands of coins! LOL! Some from my grandparents and parents. Well anyway, I enjoyed your video here and I wanted to share with you about my 1943 penny.

When I was young about 20 years ago my dad and I used to go through his coin collection and he taught me a lot. We had coins from the early 1800's on. He passed in 2004 and I was always told by his wife that she would hold on to them until I was old enough. I'm 29 now and every time I bring them up there is always some excuse like she has them in a safe spot over at her friends house or something. I loved looking at those coins with my dad and spending time with him, I wonder if I will ever see them again. If you ever need to get rid of some old coins that may not be worth much but in the hands of someone who will appreciate them I would love to appreciate them.

What would be a good price for a 1909 VDB penny, in uncirculated condition?
    Awesome video. Thanks a lot.

      Hi Neil,
It would be worth about $35 on the high end if the coin was graded mint state or better. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Please consider subscribing if you have not already.

Sure would like to get an update on what the pennies were going for 2020 if they're still as valuable as then
