  • I talked with Dennis Prager at the Prager Summit in May in Santa Barbara. It's really a discussion about two previous talks, for a collection of three. I would recommend watching them in the following order:
First, watch Who Dares Say He Believes in God? ( • Lecture: Who Dares Say... ). That lecture was part of my 12 Rules for Life tour, and took place in Sydney, Australia, Feb 26, 2019.
Second, watch the lecture I gave just before this discussion at the Prager summit: On Claiming Belief in God: Commentary ( • On Claiming Belief in ... ),.
    Then watch this discussion.
The three presentations will make the most sense in that order, which is why I placed them in the same playlist, On (My) Belief in God: bit.ly/2I6g0hq
This discussion is also available at the PragerU CZcams Video Channel at • Interview: Jordan Pete... . Thanks to Prager U for the invitation and opportunity.

What makes Peterson extraordinary is, he will sit on a stage,
in front of anyone, and courageously examine the depths of his own soul,
while most people I know are so fearful that, they won't even do that in
the privacy and solitude of their own bedroom.

      About Facts
I too am old and haven't unlimited time to mess around either.
It is a fact that JP exists. To what, whom, or Whom are you thankful for his existence? You did not specify. Obviously JP had nothing to do with his own creation or conception. Do you feel thankful toward Fate, or the Big Bang, or nothing in particular? You do not sound like a total materialist, since you speak of having a spirit. This is encouraging.
I hope that you are a Christian. But if not, please consult Jesus rather than JP. Jesus has done for us what no philosopher can do.
(Romans 5:8) 'For God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.'

Something similar happened to me in Grade 8, all the kids but one ganged up on me, conspired together to hurt me. Took years to get over it. So I learned very young that people in groups can be cruel. But I also learned that 1 person’s kindness can make the world of difference and make even the most wicked human acts somehow survivable.

Not the first time I've shed a tear watching Peterson.
Thank you for your comment. So true.
When Dennis says he'll end on Peterson's last comment because nothing could be more powerful, I could accept that in the grander sense of Jordans contributions to my life and the world. But I really hope we don't have to.
What a bright candle. The best often burn out quickly. But if Peterson can do what he has helped so many of us do, there will be more to come.
Maybe this last year was a necessary Journey to the underworld.❤
I think Peterson came by his wisdom honestly from places of real darkness and pain. That's why we get what he has put together. Maybe there is an even bigger lesson seeing that someone who can express how to achieve meaning as well as he does can still succumb to the suffering and pain and malevolence of existence. As he says, ultimately we all do.
Maybe his new level of suffering will inspire even greater Transcendence

there is no such thing as transgender. bad enough you try to fool others, but you have fooled yourself into eternal hell. wake up and feel the truth.
"Scripture declares that homosexuality is a sin, which is contrary to God’s intention in creating man and woman. Sinful resistance to the revealed will of God is a factor in this sin. People may become slaves to this sin (Romans 1:18-31, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)."
"Many factors contribute to individual acts of sin: the sinful nature we are born with, the weaknesses of our bodies, evil influences in our environment, temptations and encouragement from other sinners, and our own sinful choice join together to lead us into sin. All of these factors contribute to homosexual sin. The proportionate role of these various factors may vary from case to case.
We must warn the impenitent that homosexuality, like all sins, excludes people from eternal life (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). The church, therefore, must not, bless same-sex marriages or unions, since these are contrary to the will of God. The church must not place into nor retain in the public ministry of the Word people who defend, condone, or persist in words or actions that are contrary to God’s law."
We are happy to assure the repentant who are struggling against this sin that they have complete forgiveness through the blood of Christ. When Christ died for all of the sins of the whole world, he gained forgiveness for homosexual deeds, for homosexual desires, and for the inborn sinful nature that produces these sins (1 Corinthians 6:11).
"Every sin is both a choice of the will and the expression of an inborn tendency to sin. Our sinful will is guilty of consent whenever we sin in thought, word, or deed. As a result of our sinful nature we take pleasure in our sins and defend them. This universal tendency is apparent also in the efforts of gay rights activists to condone their homosexuality and to deny that anything is wrong with it."
"Even though the weakness of our own body may be one factor that leads us to sin, God holds us responsible for all of our sins, even those sins that enslave us and those sins that we are not aware of. We need God’s forgiveness even for those sinful desires that we resist and do not act upon. These desires too are sin. (Read Romans 7 for a treatment of slavery to sin.) Christ’s forgiveness covers every form of every sin for the repentant."
"As Christian citizens we should work for laws that will protect society from the harmful consequences of sin. As citizens we promote such laws on the basis of reason and natural knowledge of the law. If the state tolerates moral evils, which violate God’s law, we will continue to oppose them on the basis of God’s Word."

I truly believe you were put here to return hope to us. To rekindle every thing we have let fall to the wayside. You're passion and intelligence is so powerful, I felt it just a few minutes time. I haven't stopped listening since. I accidentally opened the CZcams app, when shoving my cell phone into my pocket to free my hands while working under my truck. While my hands were greasy and busy, your voice started speaking from my pocket. It was the 13 Ways of Life (I believe it was called). Five minutes in, and I lay there on the hot concrete, arms still shoved up inside my motor, frozen in place listening. The world around me had faded to background noise and, for a moment, all I heard was your voice on the video. I began to cry because something just clicked inside me. Your words made sense, and it was just what I needed. The night before I had sat in my garage at 2 AM . Unable to sleep, because of all the sadness and worry I felt about the world today. About how hard and painful life really is. Wondering why? What is the return? Why are we here? To feel pain? I felt lost.
So, with my heart hurting, and my soul broken, I asked 'Why? Please tell me, show me where I'm lacking. So I can grow and make my life better than it is today. Better than it was yesterday. And I promise, I will continue to build on that. How can I fix this?". Then by accident, your video began playing, and my answer was right there. Thank you. My soul needed a recharge.

This is False. I almost agree with Peterson, however, this is a secular view. The Bible is pretty clear that there are believers and non believers. The beauty of God is the Mercy He shows us sinners, which Peterson understands. Perhaps Jordan represents a type of Doubting Thomas, as he denies this clear fact: God allows us to fail through life so that we might find our Faith:
Genesis 15:6 "Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Ephesians 2:9 "Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it." [Not by works but by Faith]
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
This is further enforced by this realization:
John 14:9 "Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?"
The requirement to have seen Jesus and have faith that you've also seen the Father is to have first believed.
And again, belief enforces the power of our will:
Revelations 12:11 "And they overcame him [antichrist/the beast] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

If God "Allows us to fail through life so that we might find our Faith".....what happens if we don't find that Faith? In fact, if you don't have Faith to begin with, and we Fail, does that mean non-believers are all going to Hell by default, even if we led lives free of hurting others, had families, led others to success and contributed to Society in a measured and meaningful way? What becomes of of me, an Atheist, if I have led a principled life, helped others, contributed to Society and didn't hurt others? Since I am not part of "The Club of Faith I am doomed according to God? This is why Religion, and by extension, belief in a higher being, will always be a circular argument. A Benevolent God would put no such constraints on their Creation, putting traps and pitfalls in their path, gleefully waiting for them to fail only to throw us into a burning Pit when "He" knew all long it was an unobtainable and impossible exercise. The Bible may be full of Wisdom and Warnings and perhaps set people on a moral path but it is no proof of God. We can't know that yet. Even evil men [like Peterson] are used by God for good but Peterson could still lead more away from Christ with his own misunderstanding of Christianity.

      @Sjúrður Højgaard, it’s mythology.
Regardless, if the myth is true, he only had a bad weekend and is having a great time with his dad.
Meantime, 25,000 children die every day.

I feel the same way. We who are alive at the same time are witnessing true greatness unfold from the heart of Jordan Peterson. He’s willing to tell the truth that is inside him because he’s more afraid of the lies that will take root and choke out the light. Mankind is not good except by daily choices to do better. He’s gifted with a vocabulary, education and the brains to pull it all together into a coherent narrative. Basically he is saying, Don’t lie , Don’t Cheat, Don’t Blane others for your stupidity.. Don’t be un ungrateful blob. Don’t be lazy and We are not all created equal. You will know when you are in the presence of someone greater than you are because THEY Inspire you to actually become the best you can be... continually .

Democrats, republicans, independents, etc etc. You think all these peeps are brain washed fools? You sound bitter and angry and should take the time to really listen to what Mr. Peterson has to say. You might learn something.

I worked in a palliative ward and felt that everybody should have that experience. There's so much to learn from people who are sick, at the end of their lives and that coupled with personal characteristics and experiences including the one they're currently living in the ward each day. It's humbling if you allow yourself to observe it all.

@@blakebunch4485 I'd like to answer this since the commenter did not. It's not exactly "not true", however faith and attempting to follow Christ is not ALL based on works, or our actions in life. If that were so, nobody could ever cut the mustard at all, because we ALL fall short. It's more about your repentance for bad actions and forgiveness. Peterson has said he "isn't good enough" to say he believes in God. He never will be. None are. But with Jesus, the point is you bring your sinful self to Him and He helps create in you the person you need to be. The argument between protestant and Catholic has always been works or faith and i think it's very silly, since i believe it takes both very much. Idk what you'd call me. I simply call myself a Christian. The thing is, if one makes the decision in their heart and soul to follow Christ, there's no way their works or actions don't improve. They must. So one comes along with the other. But Peterson must understand that he will never be good enough. None are. He must humble himself and bring himself, sinfulness and all, before God. Repent and accept the love of God. That's all. Good works, or better works simply follow that. But nobody would be perfect because then we wouldn't need God. We would be God.

    • @crystalparker2542

@@blakebunch4485 someone commented that it was false to say we need to "act out" our beliefs, and you asked "why's that?" That's why I put it the way i did. Of course, it is not false. We do, to the best we can achieve, need to act out our beliefs and live them in our lives. But, that's not all there is to it. It just seems to me that Peterson is waiting for a perfection that will never arrive, if he thinks he must be "good enough" before he surrenders himself to God. Again, if any of us were good enough, we wouldn't need Jesus, or his sacrifice, because we would just be perfect. Don't get me wrong, i love Jordan Peterson. But to say anyone isn't "good enough" to state that they believe, well, that's the point, none are. Not even the very best human on earth is. We are supposed to unashamedly believe and unashamedly say so. We don't need to wait until we are "good enough" because God knows we aren't and he loves us anyway and wants us to come to him anyway. Now, i definitely don't agree that one can stay in their awful, sinful, behaviors and still claim to follow Jesus. Again, once you surrender yourself and decide to follow that path, your works in this world will change, because you have chosen this path.

Probably the most powerful conversation I’ve ever experienced in my 40 years. JP had me in tears, not by anything sad but by speaking so eloquently about the suffering and malevolence surrounding us and deciding not to become bitter and resentful.
Idk how to say it but there’s something VERY profound about Jordan Peterson in terms of his ability to vocalize real pain while refusing to fall into it. It’s beyond inspiring…I actually tear up whenever I think about it too much, because it’s that very specific pain we all share but are never willing to burden others with.
Lots of love and thanks from London Ontario

Am I alone in the fact that as we live through true pain, true tragedy, conversations like these become so utterly important? They hit home in a new way. I don’t know how else to explain it. We reach a point, when we’ve suffered enough, that really deep discussions like this resonate. As much as we wish we could share them with those that haven’t, we simply can’t. It will bounce right off of them. There’s greater meaning from these words than those from sheltered lives can appreciate

Jordan, while you are wondering about the adversaries who make serious problems for you, and for your family as a kind of byproduct , consider God in the midst of it all. Your mind, your graceful sharing of thought and study in the utmost balanced and thoughtful manner is a gift from God. He uses what you have been given as he sees best, for his own purposes. We do not, probably cannot , understand the sense of it all. Stay strong. Have confidence that you are doing what you must and to the best of your ability. You can do no more , and certainly no less, than to surrender to whatever comes next. God bless you with his peace that passes all understanding.
