Great work! Sword polishing always fascinates me. Can you please tell me: on making this kind of "free" hamon without clay, does it always produce this type of pattern, or sometimes it turns out to be a simpler, more linear pattern?
It is possible to create different types of hamon without using clay. It depends on the properties of the steel and how you heat the blade before submerging it in water. With short blades (tanto) I am also able to create suguha. It's not pure suguha, the edge is a bit ko-choji. Small ashi and such. The current generation of swordmakers in Japan attach great importance to the use of clay. But I am convinced that many producers of various schools did not use clay in the koto period. I will make a video about the types of hamon made without clay. But that will take a while. I have to prepare the materials for this and search the deposit photo.
Hello Pavel! Please tell me what to replace uchigumori with? Namikawa only has expensive ones left and they don’t send them to us. We need a small piece for one time. Thank you!
Stunning piece of work!
Very nice 👍
Very nice work.
Браво мастер🙌 жду видео с нетерпением каждый раз, спасибо за Исскуство которое на высочайшем уровне
Even at relatively low grits, your blades have so much activity in them.
金筋がとても良く出ている清麿お見ているようです素晴らしいです、これから、も頑張ってください

Unfortunately, I don't know of any alternative options. There is no substitute with similar quality results.
Pavel, please tell me how to make a khomon dark and a jito light. I’ve seen this in modern masters. Thank you@@katanamaking2606
