- This is a video demonstrating 5 scales that are extremely useful for playing the blues. My favorite blues musicians combine these sounds in a fluid and musical way. This video is not a step-by-step lesson on how to play these scales. It is a birds-eye-view of what these scales are and how they can be used to create musical solos.

Brilliant teaching. Never seen anyone put this together likes this. I walked away with a much better understanding of how these scales work together. Thank you!
Really appreciate that Jason!!
These scales combo are awesome. So cool to listen to. Nice video.
Great overview lesson. Keep it up Joe! Cause I’m loving it.
It's really a good moment to have a lessons with someone who's exchange with us. As a matter of fact, it's like being in the same room having a good time. Thank You.
I love the way you put that C9 into the shuffle instead of the 7th. I've always had a mental block about learning lead, but this video really helped me understand how to start.
Great lesson Joe!!! Those are going into my daily practice.
Love this lesson! Thanks Joe!
Thanks man , one of the best lessons I’ve ever had . The first time I’ve had the feel of those scales explained and how they work together.
I'm convinced!!! Your tutorial demonstration presents a solid argument. I know nothing of scales but hell I gotta study these, the close up camera really helped. Man please do more blues in your livestreams, it's so cool. 😎❤👍
This is what I need joe, thanks!
Great info and lesson Joe - thanks for sharing this. You're an excellent teacher and communicator of these ideas, in a very clear and comprehensive way. Thanks again.
Loved this video! Yes, please it will be great if you can demonstrate these scales in other positions. Terrific video man.
Thank you, Joe!! I'm an old worn out tenor sax player and guitar hack...this lesson applies to both instruments very well!
Thanks again!
What a wonderful comprehensive tutorial. Many thanks.
Thanks Joe for the great gift
Completely enjoyed this! Thanks for knowledge Joe! ✊🏽🎵
Thanks a lot Joe...much to learn from watching this lesson...you are a very sweet and generous person.
Great Lesson Joe. Brilliant. Also worth mentioning that it's great to anchor on the root note for each of the chords when playing each of the different scales over them :)
Fantastic info and Very well delivered as always Joe 🎸😎
Thanks so much for all your work🎉
Thank you for your sincerity ❤
What a great way to explain. You nailed it
Thanks, Joe. That was very helpful.
Love the guitar you chose for the lesson. My favourite acoustic of all time. Had a 36 L-00 and just bought a 1930 L-1. Different necks but perfect for blues and basically anything. You’re an excellent teacher Joe as well as a phenomenal player. Thanks for this.
Thank you, Joe! 👍🏼🎵 Brilliant teaching. And your joy and passion shines through.
Inspiring. Thank you, Joe!
thanks Joe, the concept of using the different scales/modes in one tune is a refreshing new thought. You helped me break out of only using the major pentatonic and into the natural minor, and I look forward to learning more from this approach. Giving the Mini a workout this afternoon!
Congratulations for such a great lesson. So well explained and condensed 😊. Thanks!
Great lesson really helping me with my blues playing.
Great lesson. Thank you for these type of videos.
Hey Joe, I followed you for many years. Always have enjoyed your masterful playing. I'm glad I found your content on CZcams. Excellent!
Awesome stuff Joe!
This is a awesome lesson really opened up a door😁
This guy is very good, very simple to follow and understand, really laid back but KNOWS his stuff!
Very nice demonstration, going to put more focus into these scales for my practice.
Very comprehensive Joe. Thanks mate!
Good lesson, Joe!
Thank you!
Definitely walking away with a bit more knowledge from this tutorial!
Thanks. Very good teaching. I did.
We must have knowledge of scales.
Thank you Joe, great video!
Great lesson, Joe. Thank you so much. It is very inspirational. 👍🙏♥️
Great video, mate, i especially enjoyed the bebop scale which i need to explore more. Cheers!
Very well done, made me go pickup my guitar . Very simple and straight forward. Thanks.
Thank you, really great teaching... as i say what I love in jazz is the blues and what i love in blues is the jazz
Thank you, Joe. This is fantastic. This is also my homework tonight.
Superb work as always Joe! Looking for time to pick mine up again :)
Thanks so much Joe
Excellent lesson 😊
A very nice and useful lesson 👌🏻
Great lesson Joe.
Very cool lesson Joe - cheers from 🇬🇧
Hey Joe, I really appreciate the lesson. The only scales I was familiar with were the first two. I've never played lead. It's always been like a mystery to me. I would really enjoy some lessons where you break it down more slowly for those of us who are new at it. As always, I love your videos and your instruction. Thanks!
This will really help me improvise more with the Blues !!! :)
Hi, Joe! @Joe Robinson Thank you for your brilliant Blues Scales lesson, which I'm excited to work into my daily practice. We love your music and educational videos.
All the best to you, Cher from Invisible Technique
Great lesson, Joe ! Thank you ! And your old Gibson is a real beauty and seems to play wonderfully well !
Great lesson and very usefull thanks much👏👏👏
Greate lesson, make me easy to differentiate between these wonderfull scales.
Wow lovely lesson
Thank you brother beautifull tutorial...❤❤
Super video again Joe ! Very nice 👍 Happy weekend ! Michael
Thanks so much joe
For ref
G scale
1:30 minor pentantonic
3:36 blues scale
6:03 major pentatonic scale
Thanks a lot JoeRob❤🙏
What a great lesson. Showing these scales and using them in a shuffle really connects the dots. Hearing them back to back you really hear the different flavour of each. Enjoying your TrueFire lessons as well!
Man you are such a cool player. Do you play in any bands? The scales were very clearly demonstrated. Hope to see you -playing one day! 🇦🇺🦘👏
Thanks Joe i really enjoy all your content and how you present it. I read what I have found a v useful description of “the blues” ………that there are three fixed pitches (1,4,5) and the rest are “flexible” pitches ie (2,b3,3) and (6,b7) and between 4 and 5. This thinking accommodates major and minor pentatonic + b5 plus all the microtones in between
GOOD LESSON ALSO GREAT EXPRESSIVE PLAYING
thanks Joe!
I practice all pentatonic scales and when he did that at the beginning I wanted to burn my guitar and cry in the corner.
I think that all the time. Like how the hell are we using the same notes ?? There’s no way 😂
Joe is a master of combining all routes up the neck in a rhythmical way, not to mention when he incorporates melodic counterpoint. (That’s nuts 😜). The important part is to develop a sense of the root and its adjacent intervals in different positions up the fretboard
@@seanmarshallmusic so true! I got out my corner last night and I swear my guitar was laughing at me like “oh yeh oh yeh” dam
Me two he made it sound like something with feeling and recognizable songs I’m the box for 0 yesrs
Try working on your rhythm rather than the notes played
Very nicely done. Relaxed and right on the penny. Love from India.
what a video maaaaaan whole day im in that mood to doo to doo to doo :D
Thank you.
Great lesson! This seems manageable and attainable...
Inspiring and pleasant! Warm thanks from a beginner.
You're never 'showing off'. You're just good!
Great job!
Great lesson! it was cool to see you really accurate to demonstrate eache scale. And the demo at the end is awesome! if you do another lesson about blues what would be great is to see how you approach each degree. Anyway thank's for this awesome lesson Mister Robinson!
Fantastic Joe!
Fan here
Excellent Lesson! Subbed!
Kicking back in Kendall with the fire on, cooking dinner and this on the telly. Life is good. Nice one mate, I’m still working on the first one after 30 years. Good to see you killing it. 👍👍😊
great acoustic sound
Really good man🤘
My instrument is the piano/keyboard but this video is relevant to me because your lesson is so comprehensive and nicely put together … and it’s always good to hear other instruments play 😊
Молодец 🎉
Real nice!
Love you joe❤
Explained in the easiest and simplest form. Thanks Joe.
Joe! I remember watching you back when you did Daddy Longlicks with the band! It's great to see you again
Always hits up beat for starting and put some triplet.
Im a new fan of your channel, thnx for the overview and great playing. (Just put up my guitar for sale after seeing this 😉 there's to much to learn)
Quite clear! appreciate your great course.

Would be much nicer if there are sketches of the scales shown during the lesson. Some people have strong visual memory. Thank you very much for very good lesson. Cheers from Indonesia.
He may be the best sounding guitarist of the ones I've heard teaching on here.
Great lesson Joe😅
Game changer
Hi Joe, this lesson is fantastic.
Wish you could do more about phrasing and how to be musical with each scale because that's the most difficult part...
Please more about this 🙏🎸👍
True
Great lesson Joe very interesting and informative many thanks 👍
Great stuff. How do I access your slower approach ?
Thank you. You’ve just outlined my lesson plan for the next 6 months 😂
Great and enjoyable lesson Joe. I do think scale diagrams would help. Me anyway. Thanks
If course man, thanks man
Your the best.
