Imagine you're an American paratrooper dropped into Normandy. It's the morning of June 6th, 1944, you land near a German outpost, and over their radio you hear "LegendofTotalWar here with another saving your disaster battle, today I'm playing as the Wehrmacht and we have to defend against some American, British, and Canadian doomstacks."
He’d use king tiger spam, expensive upkeep. The allies used chaff especially the red army crested skinks
@@jimmehjimjim4810 Nah, the Tiger II was basically the equivalent of TWWH Elite Infantry. Impressive stats but just doesn't justify the cost. Legend would lament that the player didn't go for U-Boat cheese from the start and try to take out enough soviet stacks from Bagration with manual combat micromanagement to get a truce with Stalin :P.
@@GaldirEonai He would probably say not to attack stalin at all.
"Now look what you have done here, you're at war with too many thats your problem".
"The Americans haven't researched up armored m4s yet, so what we are gonna want to do is build multiple stug doomstacks and eliminate their armored stacks first, force a peace treaty with the US. You did good pushing back Britain but I'm not sure how you let their army escape through Dunkirk but don't worry about it, without America you can easily solo Britain. Wait is that Russia on your east? Your problem is you're at war with too many people, those Russian armies are weak but numerous and that's your mistake and we are gonna have to live with that."

AMLIfied What the hell happened that caused him to be at war with 20+ factions? Lol. I’m super careful about not being in a war with anymore than 3 or 4 factions at a time. Anymore and it quickly becomes overwhelming fighting battles on many fronts.
@@knightshade3d51 I think it's one of these two reasons.
It might have been 1 faction that he was annoying too much and that faction might have been friends with a lot of other factions. So when war was declared everyone declared was on him due to that friendship.
Second which might actually what has happened. He wanted to be with war with everyone and bit of more than he could chew.
Zefar77 In either case he was way underprepared in every way imaginable. His armies stood no chance at beating them, his settlements were poorly protected, and he went all melee infantry on a faction whose greatest strength is their beasts. A whole lot contributed to this major disaster. I think he might need to lower the difficulty because I don’t think he’s ready for how challenging the campaign is right now. Not trying to be a dick, but there was so many bad decisions made that tell me he isn’t experienced enough for the difficulty he’s playing on.
@@knightshade3d51 >What the hell happened that caused him to be at war with 20+ factions?
Crap choice of allies.
Daniel McClintock I never go for allies. As seen by what happened with Legend having a military alliance with Tyrion. Last time I did an alliance with the dwarves as the empire, every faction in the badlands, and nehhekara declared war on them and therefore me. Spent the greater amount of 100 turns clearing all that up by either peacing out or beating back from my borders (as I was fighting archaon up north simultaneously). Last time I ever, or will ever, make an alliance.
I don’t know why these players don’t make any dinosaurs when I first played lizardmen big strong dinosaurs were the first thing I wanted
maybe cause itza gets saurus bonuses? But still you'd think they would put some dinos there atleast
I get it early game because they are so expensive. This is over turn 100 though.
Big strong dinosaurs are cool, but skinks and saurus are cute.
But they're mostly cheap. Thats probably the only reason.
Probably because when they fight lizardmen in other campaigns saurus steamroll almost everything
Most likely probably he just grab whatever available in the nearest city to the enemy troop. Another possibility is he is trying to make 4 weak army instead of very 2 strong army.

@@koatam yeah but that doesnt explain why he called them dangerous
@@MEGABUMSTENCH because if some horde of bloated corpses slam into your units, especially in an infantry spam, they can deal a lot of damage and could even route them.
@@MEGABUMSTENCH bloated corpses deal tons of damage against infantry spam, principally if they are in a blob. i had one bloated corpse wipe out 2 units and damage another one.
The auto resolve ai is convinced of the bloated corpse meta. I die inside having to fight a battle for that one reason.
I think CA did that just to FORCE the player to manually deal with them. That or they determine autoresolve power through AI vs. AI battles and because the AI SUCKS at dealing with bloaty bois their testing gives them fuk hueg autoresolve even though a noob can quickly learn to throw their heroes at the bloaties to protect the rest of their troops after one or two bloaties
@@GeneGear the way auto resolve ai works is it blindly charges all units into the battle. thats why things like ammo and outnumbered mechanics are there to compensate for the poor ai in the auto resolve.
if you want to see how the ai fights, simply reinforce an ally's army and watch how the ai engage each other.
i only had a few moments where my ally waited for my reinforcements. but sometimes when i was fighting the enemy, he only engaged when the enemies number where low. but by then my troops where heavily injured.

Channelling Mario today I see...
This is one of those campaigns where the guy has a ton of provinces, but nothing is developed. Hes at war with everyone, barely has any eco for how many settlements he has, and doesnt have any "secure" borders, while at the same time having most of Lustria
In regards to the first fight against VC the auto resolve bar was poorly skewed because all the units were at half strength. If you merge them to full, even though you have less units, the auto resolve would have been much more in your favour.
I'd pay money to see Legend play a campaign using nothing but Giants
I think that before you disbanded that damaged army that was mostly saurus warriors and skinks, you should have tried to make peace with Luthor, as those troops probably make the AI consider your faction stronger.
Also think you should have went to a sea location of interest before disbanding the life slann since you could have reached it the same turn you were going to disband it anyways, and then you could have disbanded it at sea.
OMG. Now I am just watching my armies and thinking: "What if this beautiful full stack army is just trash? Would Legends delete this army if he saw it?" lol
Well he could've used the Slann army he disbanded in the isles to defend monument settlement. Income IS importent hovewer he had 4 turn train time of units already ready to help him.
Unfortunately beauty doesn't translate to practical use otherwise my Tomb guard, casket and archer armies would e unbeatable :(

Well, he's making the views and you get your campaign fixed. It's a fair trade in his opinion.
Wow I gotta say watching you get out of these ridiculously bad situations one decision at a time is pretty awesome.
Lighting strike should really be the most important priority for a lord. Nothing else really matters in comparison.
For the most part yes. Certain factions work well without it, but it definitely should be something to get regardless.
@Sugarz Or Norsca. Mammoth Spam can beat just about anything.
It depends on your faction. Skaven and the three undead factions don't really need Lightning Strike as much - Skaven because of their high ambush chance and all four because of their use of swarm tactics.
IMHO, playing as HE you don't need lightning strike that critically, like the entire second half of blue row for me is more important than LS, maybe it's because of how i prefer to play. For me, the most cathartic moments of TW:W2 is then i cast a perfect explosion/vortex spell, see doomstack sisters of Avelorn shred a few enemy units in one round, and autoresolve a battle against 4/5 armies and win, completely annihilating 5000 people (i'm not a genocidal maniac, the high elves are), preferably not losing many of my own units. For all of that, you don't need LS, but you need cheap maintenance, fast replenishment, and some good artifacts. Generally fighting multiple armies at once allows you to either autoresolve and kill all of them, leaving enemy defenceless ((and giving one of pleasurable sights to see)and allowing me to bite off half of their country, even cheating on higher difficulties AI won't be able to recover that quickly), or, if manageable tactically, destroy them in person (allowing for other 2 great options i mentioned) and leave holes instead of squads and noob lords, to again autoresolve them later. I remember playing one of my first companies (Vortex, also as HE), and like you would expect from a noob, didn't take LS on any of my lords (although i read the description, and understood what it could do), and throughout entire campaign i only had 2 instances, where LS could've save me. How i think, LS helps only during massive sieges, when u can't break away defeating all armies, or when u SUDDENLY encounter a massive blob of enemy forces, and autoresolve says u don't stand a chance (and u agree with it, for once), so u take on each of them. Both these instances happen to me, in average, 5 or 6 times for one campaign, so i prefer increasing income/replenishment/efficiency of units/lords, and only after i have what i consider most necessary at the moment/generally, i take LS, just to avoid these situations. Side note, i only play HE (yes, i played more than 600h only for them, i'm that type of retard), so all this might not be viable for other races
@@ADrug Sisters of Averlorn absolutely need lightning strike. If they run out of ammo, the battle is lost. You need to be able to minimize the number of enemies on the field to prevent your line from getting swamped or running out of ammo.
The sender is taking the term TOTAL WAR to new levels
You should make the "you couldn't pay me to fix this campaign" disasters into a 2-3 episode series. I'd be very interested in how you handle these situations from both a macro (campaign map) and micro (battle map) perspective.

This reminds me of my current arkhan the black campaign. I was at war with repanses faction and attacking her final settlement only to not notice the turn before bretonnia Confederated her. Now I have bretonnia, empire, wissenland and dwarfs sending a constant stream of armies at me from the north while what left of khemri is still attacking me even though I have their Capitol and they only have 1 province left in the orc lands to the north. At turn 150 I still dont control 60% of the desert.
looks like a Western Roman Campagin in Attila Total War :D
Me playing itza on vortex having never played before. I'm now struggling against Naggarand, as I take their Homeland as revenge for their BS Archer range and monsters. One thing I have learned is proper salamander pack use can absolutely melt units. I haven't ever seen you use them (only 9m in) they are aoe strikes, huge damage even to shielded, and my best anti Archer unit in siege
I'm currently in this campaign, the problem starts from the beginning. Take out the skaven asap to secure the province. Then go south. Vampires may expand a bit but being at war on 3 fronts cripples you. Even if you want to do the ritual victory, secure the continent first, you also get predictable chaos spawns. feral stegodons get me more bang for my buck in bad situations. Also, feral stegodon is better in a pinch, the stegodon does better when im not stuck in a corner.

The guy offering to pay you to fix the campaign did get you a pretty good video title out of it.
Do you have a series of videos where you give us a brief guide on how use each race to their fullest extent in early, mid, and late game?
Only some guides for the optimal first 20 turns.
He often says that those kind of guides are not so worthwhile making, giving how many similar videos are out there. But more than that, if someone wants HIS opinion for all he cares they can just watch a VOD of his streams.
Man this pun really hurts🤦♂️
Legend has adopted the great Australian tactic called the Brisbane line. "fuck everything north of this line here" was basically the Australian army's strategy if japan invaded in WW2.

Legendoftotalwar, what is your favorite faction and lord?
In his streams he says often his favorite faction is HE and lord Settra.
Fav. factions are High Elves, Tomb Kings, Lizzards and Skaven.
Fav. Lords: Ikit Claw, Settra, Tyrion, Alarrielle (or however you spell that name) and I think Wulfrik?
Maybe some have changed or there are a few more or less, but those seem to be a good bet when it comes to Legend :D
Thanks :)
I don't understand why so many Lizardmen players want to spam Saurus Warriors. They are only good in the early game, they are too expensive and deal too little damage to be worthwhile after the early game. They also lack any armor-piercing damage which means they don't scale well vs other infantry especially on higher difficulty settings where the AI's infantry has melee and leadership buffs.
Think about your main opponents as Lizardmen, you're fighting Skaven, High Elves and Vampire Coast: missile factions. Saurus Warriors get shot to pieces before you can even get into melee range you'll always end up taking loads of casualties in every battle. You need more speed than Saurus Warriors have, who are good at one thing only, holding a line for missile units that Lizardmen don't have in the first place.
Is it possible to find campaign's files from other people somewhere ?
The only way to get access to them is to talk directly to the person who sends in the disaster battles/campaigns. I doubt most people are willing to send it to anyone but maybe legend.
Itza vortex can go so well, but it can go so wrong so unbelievably fast. Totally surrounded. Starting a ritual without multiple armies ready? This was literally my first campaign, I'm still playing it, started this week. I learned after the first ritual not to do this
Itza a not so bad...
The only why to thrive in VH campaign difficulty is stegaddon spam?
Not all of us find spamming monsters to be fun gameplay
Random question people, I've seen Legend before when he has a stack and one empty army where he turns off "control large army" and the enemy reinforcements dribble onto the battlefield, but I've just done it and the ai has all their units, while I only get the 20 (the other general by himself is new so wouldn't make much difference). Any ideas why this hasn't worked?
Were you fighting one faction or several? If you turn off "control large army", then EVERY FACTION in the battle are going to have 20 units on the battlefield at the same time. So if you fight, say, 2 factions with 20 unit armies each, you're not going to deny them any reinforcement.

Lightning Strike really needs to become an ability unattached to any skill tree; it's basically mandatory, which is a problem when you want to experiment a bit.
I'm gonna start an Easy campaign, use only war wagons, and then ask him to fix it at one condition... and you know what it is 😀

Isn´t spamming temple guards alright with best waifu queen kroak? i was playing in very hard was haven´t lost a single battle against anyone (even against 5 armies of Bretonnia in a siege battle with the worst possible castle) i mean sure Stegadon or Carno spam is better because kroak could do even better since there is more shit around ur stegadons/carnos but i don´t think it´s terrible.
Level 38 and nowhere close to a lightning strike - oof.
He managed to roll around pretty well, but he ended in such shit situation. Geez, so many mistakes. I don't like rushing Stegodons and doing doomstacks, but having few and utilizing big dinos is basic for them..
Jakub S. The worst mistakes were being in so many wars, using melee infantry stacks on very hard, underdeveloped/under protected settlements, and doing the vortex missions.
So basically every part was a mistake lol
If you play grimhammer2, balanced armies perform much better, in general, than doomstacks. You know, like a real strategy game...
