Abstract Realism Crow Painting Tutorial // Step by Step

- Hey my friends!!!
Today I'm going to take you through the layers of creating this abstract realism crow painting. This is a tutorial of sorts. I'm going to show you a whole bunch of techniques I use from creating texture to using squeegees, spray paint, acrylic inks, sponges, and palette knives and more.
This painting plays with the idea of reality vs illusion. A cage vs freedom. Usually, it's only perception that decides what is real and what is not.
I hope you enjoy the video and let me know what you think in the comments!!! - Jak na to + styl
I’m always in awe of the artist’s brain and how they visualize these masterpieces and bring their visions to life
❤ nice thx. Wouldnt it be nice if we/they were valued more?
About halfway through the video I realized my mouth was hanging open because there were so many intricate steps. I'm so happy you explained why you did each one. Your pieces are like complex musical compositions that can only be appreciated fully when you know how many and what kind of instruments are involved and how they fit together (I listen to Nightwish - symphonic metal - my statement makes so much more sense if you know their music). To see the piece being assembled makes it that much more exquisite. And I'm not using that word lightly - it is exquisite. ❤
Thank you so much Mary!!! I'm so glad you liked it! I was afraid everyone would get bored watching all the steps.💖
Estou encantada. O que seria do mundo e de mim sem a arte, sem artistas como você que nos faz viajar num sonho de ternura ,magia e gratidão. Parabéns.
@@lydiabroderick867 Bored watching a masterpiece unfold!? I can't tell you how many times I have watched this video. I am mesmerized every single time!!! I share the deepest love for crows and ravens. .I just can't get enough of them. Please keep creating! For me so far, this is probably one of my most favorite pieces of artwork in the world. That is saying a lot! I buy art almost weekly. I wish this were on my wall. Pure joy! Thank you!

Gorgeous painting!! I love mixing abstract and realism but actually haven't done it that much. You are inspiring me to give it a shot. Loved watching your process. Thanks so much!☮❤
I just love (your paintings obviously) but just the way you talk over it and the things you say, you're so like me! its fun to listen to you, i think we'd be best mates and I'd love to go out for cocktails and pizza with you, we'd have such fun (if you ever find yourself in the Highlands of Scotland) ☺

I was stuck on how to create a commissioned space scene. Then I saw this! Love, love, love these techniques. Thanks for the video!!
Awesome Rachel!!! I'm so glad! Thank You!❤❤❤
6am and I just found your channel, boy am I glad I typed the word "crow" in with mixed media, I am crow crazy, live on a farm in West Virginia with my horses, dog Maggie and seven cats, love watercolor but want to branch out into exactly what I just watched you do, I absolutely love this piece of art, it is stunning and I will be following you. So amped up to find someone who is doing what I have had in my mind for a couple years now but couldn't even explain it to myself. Thanks so much for your interesting and teachable video. You are good. Rita
Thank you Rita!!! I am crow crazy as well! Ravens and crows are my favorite birds. I tend to paint them a lot!😊❤
mixed media artists are like. god tier. 😮
Thank you for sharing!! Fantastic techniques!! Sure some people dont like the crow or the script or whatever... I'm the same with what I do, I like what I like... grungy textures with no subject matter.
Heel mooi prachtig 👏👏👌👍💐🇱🇺
I love Crows, period.
Brilliant idea and vision! Stunningly perfect in every way!
You just gave me a bazillion ideas. Thank you
Thank you!

“I’ve got a jar of dirt” in the accent really caught me off guard 😂😂
I greatly appreciate seeing this process unfold and having explanations at the same time. I’m just starting to practice mixed media so all insight is invaluable
absolutely mind-blowing! you are so talented... my mouth was open too as I watched you build layers while using different paints and tools! good time lapse, great narration. I am lower than a beginner, I recently painted a 5 x 7 inch acrylic painting of a daisy field for my mom & I was pretty impressed with myself😂😂good times👍🏻
Thank you Lisa!!! We all start somewhere!☺ I bet your mom loved it! My son got me a steam mop to clean up paint!😂 I wish he'd paint a field of daisies!❤
Another awesome artist to follow is Bob Burridge.
He’s amazing at helping people loosen up and be free from stress. Makes painting fun! Happy Arting 🌹🌹🌹 edit: John Beckly is another fave.
Beautiful piece! A lot of time and technique.
Those colors!!!! What a fantastic image.
Thank you Beau!!!
Illusion backwards really made this painting 100× more interesting...POSITIVE VIBES TO ALL

It's very unique and draws the viewer in to keep looking.. Lovely.
Thank you so much!
I am 100% whole heartedly in live with this painting! Dark teal and warm sunset colors is my favorite color combination.
I sure wish I could paint (think) like that
Love it! I'm from New Mexico and turquoise is pronounced like tur-coyse here :) Blessings
I know!!! My whole life I have been surrounded by people who mispronounced it!😂 Product of my upbringing. Thank you!❤
Absolutely mesmorising video. I loved the finished effect. I wish I had that talent.
Thank you Freda!!!
So strong color painting, and I'm mad for Crow! I fall inlove for this, I'm jealous of this ^^. Thanks to sharing your work process. I'll follow you France from.
This is the first time I've watched one of your videos. It just popped up in my recs and I saw that raven and the colors and I had to watch. It's beautiful.
Thank you!!!
That was FUN to watch! I've painted bird feet, too. Grrr! I'm sending this video to my husband. He loves to paint things that just come from his head. He also loves chunky paint. Gaffrey is one of his favorite artists. He'll love this.
Wow You are AMAZING! I love it! ❤
Thank you for simplifying & demystifying these art processes so they're available to everyone 🎨🖌💖
Very very nice!!!! Enjoyed and learned alot.
This is absolutely beautiful! And (tur-koyz) is one of my favorite colors! Yes I’m OCD about pronunciation. I’ve never heard anyone so mispronounce that word. lol. But this truly is a very cool piece.
Thank you! I know now about turquoise... Product of my upbringing, but an easy fix😁❤
I love it
Hi, Linda. Nice color coordination, color that some people don't like, you make it look so awesome. I found a brunt sienna once that someone threw away. Now I know how I can use it, I like Brunt Sienna color. Thank you.
Phenomenal! I have a photo I took many years ago of an old, craggily dead tree with about 50 crows sitting in it. It's a silhouette shot and I've always wanted to paint it but I didn't have the right idea or inspo until now! Thank you for posting. This is beautiful and I can't wait to try this technique!
That must be a really cool photo! I'm kinda jealous! I want to see when you finish!!!!🤓
Great job...very nice..and usefull tips and guidence. Thanks!

Thank you!!❤
I am beyond envious... xoxox
You are really an awesome artist and great teacher. Pure talent is such a gift. I made a porcelain Raven doll in a cage and love her story i made up for an article. The words "I Know why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou was my inspiration. Your inspirations are so apparent in your work. Your perkey attitude is up lifting and love your humor.
Hi Carol! Thank you so much! I love that... "I know why the caged Bird sings". I would love to see the Raven in the cage that you made. Is the article online somewhere?😊
Love your illustration video.... your artwork wow me
wonderful painting....💐
I love your creativity and how you always add in different elements! Raven's and crows are also one of my favorite birds! Stunning painting!
This is a beautiful painting of my favourite subject, that is crow, and have similar interests with you ❗... I try to photograph the bird , as well as sketch a lot...and already done a mini-series on it...👍

@@lydiabroderick867 Hey hope you are well. I have just added another video on Destructive Enhancement you might find interesting czcams.com/video/IdImA4rBJg0/video.html
LOL!.....way you described working on those feet was like listening to myself . Good to know it happens to others .
Hi Lydia - this is spectacular! Thanks so much for sharing your techniques so generously with us.
If all else ever fails as an artist, you might consider doing stand-up. 😬
Haha! Thank you!!!😁
Simply brilliant. Wishing you much success!
Many many thanks🙏😊

What a cool paining !!
Beautiful painting, and video
Love love love it. Crows are fascinating & very clever. This one fits beautifully in your painting.
Well.......I really need to subscribe, your art style is brilliant.
I absolutely love corvids and have my 3 friends who meet me every morning and fly as I walk my beautiful dog, I feed them, the stay with me till I finish the walk.
Years ago when jesus was probably still a toddler I was asked by a cafe to paint a highland cow....I did, with acrylic, but it was unbelievably boring to look at when I finished....😮
So...anywho, I decided to run it under the shower and scrub it, and like maybe 4 or five minutes later it started to become more interesting, so I added, and subtracted paints and inks till it told me, hey, I'm done....
And it was, it fitted in perfect with the cafe decor a lot better than if I kept the chocolate box type I started with...
The was you started your piece inspired me.
So ThanQ.....love from Inverness. 💙🏴
Thank you Edward. Your mornings sound so peaceful. You paint a lovely picture with your words. Is Iverness in the Scottish Highlands? I remember my grandmother talking about the north of Scotland when I was a kid. She was from England, but used to go up there.
@@lydiabroderick867 yea lydia North East highlands.....🏴.....thanQ for the reply, yes my mornings can be special, trouble is, when you make friends with wildlife, you always worry when they don't turn up. 😊
But they eventually do....have a lovely day.💙🏴
This is just beyond…. I’m in awe.
Very clever. All this abstract art seems to follow a formula so im never sure. But your approach is A1.
Your really funny and I love your work 🔥⚓😃
Wow! ❤
I would love to own this!!!!!
Half way through watching this I was like I have to subscribe, this painting is so sick.
Beautiful! Love it! ❤
Absolutely LOVE this!!!
