  • Here we go! We have a head to head on 93 octane. Two different tunes on the same vehicle with the same dyno and test conditions. I am just a consumer, and am not affiliated with either company. These opinions are my own, but these numbers do not lie!! LIKE, SUB and ENJOY!

    The problem with starting to tune your car is that it is addictive. I started to run a flash stage 1 like yours last year, and stage 2 this season, (catless dp, open intake, and a new flash)the car is blistering fast and I have been on several track days ,Nürburgring and pushing the car to the max all the time, and it is still in one piece
    The car runs perfect, no warning lights, nothing.
    So just enjoy!

  • @cratervanawesome

    Linear pedal map actually makes it more predictable, but often times less 'responsive'. Sport tunes or even default sport modes on cars often just bump up the throttle early in the pedal so it FEELS like you're getting more power because at 10% throttle you're getting 30-40% of your power right away. For the average street driver your brain then thinks you still have way more power in reserve, but you actually dont, and the last half of the pedal is usually pretty dead feeling. If its linear, you know how much power you're commanding, and also have more control of getting on to power when cornering (for the track people). If you get on 30% power with 10% throttle you may be giving it too much and lose traction. Where as if you could precisely get 25% you might get a great boost out of a corner. I don't track either, but i generally like linear just because it is predictable and i know what it's gonna do. I personally don't need it to "Feel" faster with less throttle input. That's almost always what people who get an off the shelf tune are feeling on their first drive and then they suspect they are sensitive enough to notice a 10hp difference at some low RPM.

    As we always say not everyone wants to dive in to reflashing their vehicle and the JB4 provides a great alternative. It can also be used in conjunction with flash maps for logging, fine tuning, E85 mixtures, and other features, for the more aggressive guys.

    I'd do an APR for sure if I had more control over swapping maps myself. I have a Boxster coming around Christmas, but I'd be hesitant to get a tune now and have to rely on a tuner to keep swapping it or updating it as I make modifications i'm sure i won't be able to resits over time. Plus there is only 1 APR installer within like hours of me, so if i end up needing to reset or do an update and that shop closes i'd be kind of in trouble.

    Good numbers, but comparing a full on tune to JB4 default maps is not really fair. Map 6 is where it's at. I had a MK7 VW that was JB4 only custom tuned myself map 6 and it would walk other apr and unitronic tuned MK7's.

  • @kidjef
    @kidjef Před 4 lety +2

    Interesting, to me the difference in my '18 GTS with the JB4 felt pretty substantial. The extra low end torque alone was worth it, imo - and it went beyond that.
    That said I was looking at making the car a bit more spunky and didn't care much at all about straight line power, so ymmv depending on expectations.

Also is your dyno reading a little high? 410 RWHP is > 450 hp at the flywheel, or ~ 400 hp stock with 10% drive train loss. Very nice numbers but seems too high to be true. @@CarJunkie Ironically you're not wrong. These turbo 4's do work.
      I've always liked them due to the weight reduction and how easy they are to maintain and work around in the engine bay. (Same reason the Japanese do it.)
      I can understand how NA 6 cylinders are Porsche's bread and butter but, I believe the 5 cylinders Audi makes are the sweet spot.
