    They have used instruments in a couple of their songs. But they don't hide them in the background, they'll show them up front so you can see them.

    As others have said, "Pentatonix doesn't do covers. They do upgrades." Thanks for the great reaction.

    Concur about filters. If you watch other PTX reactions, you can see the things others have done. Yes, they themselves are the only music. Kevin (beatboxer) and Matt (bass) are killing it as the rhythm section. Mitch and Kirstin, when they aren't soloing, do the more high-pitched effects, like the bell tones. And Scott fills in all over the place with his huge range. They did use a touch of effects, especially on "Believe," in homage to the iconic sound of those songs. ETA: they do sometimes use instruments, but the instrument will be clearly shown in the video: Kevin's cello on "Say Something" or "Shallow," Scott's piano on "Thank You."

    True they do occasionally use instruments and they are up front and shown ,, like " Radioactive " their collaboration with Lindsey Stirling on violin, and Kevin on cello.Kevin also plays cello in " Say Something ". Scott plays piano in " Thank You ". Those are the ones I can think of. But they're used, you'll see them.

    You should listen to the Daft Punk Medley, and in that one, there's not auto-tune tributes to Cher and Blue. They even have a version online with them doing it in a room, without the audio equalization. There's also La La Latch, or Love Again, or Come Along, or a huge number of other examples, enjoy!

    Thanks for a fun reaction! They did use some electronic studio effects in this video, especially during the Cher song. This is in recognition of the introduction of these musical sounds during the 90's, and Cher was a big user of these.

    This one does not seem to be getting blocked for anyone. Your videos that were blocked, you may want to try reposting them with some kind of color or blur effect over the video, or maybe superimposing your channel logo (which is adorable, btw) over the video. That seems to be working for other reactors. It's NOT Pentatonix that's blocking your stuff (they actually LOVE reaction channels), it's their label Sony Music that does it. Pentatonix did not use any instruments on this video, but they do occasionally use them. They are about 98% a cappella. Kevin's cello and Scott's piano show up on a handful of their videos. If there is an instrument being used, you will see it being played in the video. They never "sneak" instruments onto their songs.

    If they use instruments (piano and cello), they are in the video. Kevin, the beatboxer, plays world class cello. Scott, the tall blonde, plays piano. But this doesn't happen often. Your reaction was amazing! It was as amazing as their talent is. Thank you from this Pentaholic. I look forward to your next Pentatonix (PTX) reaction. They have a very deep catalog.

  • @jamescurfman3284

    They HAVE used instruments on very few occasions, usually when they have a guest performer.
    Lindsey Stirling has a video on her channel when she collaborated with PTX covering the song Radioactive; Lindsey plays Violin (of course) and Kevin plays Cello and beat boxes. They also did one more song together but I can't even start to spell it because it is in French language. Starts with a 'P'.
    But there is at least one song with just PTX where Kevin plays Cello and beat boxes (they covered A Great Big World with Christina Aguilera, the song is Say Something). :)

  • @hardtackbeans9790
    @hardtackbeans9790 Před 3 lety +1

    There are a few videos of PTX where Kevin plays a cello or Scott plays piano. But it will be obvious when they are using instruments.

      You’re the first Pentaholic I’ve seen in the comments who shares my opinion. I was born in the 80s, so I get the nostalgia, and this medley is spectacular, but I think Daft Punk is the stronger showcase of their talents. The arrangement was also ridiculous, combining multiple songs into one, rather than just mixing from one to the next. I’m still going to watch every reaction of both, lol. Just curious if they missed your nostalgia era, or if you agree even with that factor?

      @@alanhufstetler5392 I dig it, and yeah, growing up I had the music my sister liked, since this was before everyone did their own thing all the time. I swear she had this entire playlist (minus Eiffel 65 and Vengaboys), and while she was clubbing to all these, I was at high school dances with all these. I just think that people who comment saying that this should get a Grammy for sure, might end up disappointed. Daft Punk’s arrangement was technically astounding, as well as audibly amazing, and this one is more medley and less single, changed song.

    Hey, enjoying your reactions to PTX. Sorry you could not get some out, but have seen some different ideas done in post production. Blurring video, cutting up music with little added thoughts, and filter have worked. Maybe you can ask them for guidance? The first time reacting to Pentatonix is always special. Daft Punk might be a good one for you. (PTX medley) Good luck.

    Hi Jez, I was one of many , I am sure, that suggested this Pentatinox song. I knew when I heard it that I thought , " If Jez listens to this she is going to fall over ". Gut feeling was that you would like it. I am like you in that they are just a little nuts or something . They are very creative and very detailed and they create these ridiculous ear candy songs. It is crazy. I sit there after listening to one of their songs with my jaw on the table . There are 2 other popular A Capella groups on CZcams that will give you a lot of new members. Neither of these 2 groups have problems with the publisher blocking the songs, One is called Home Free and the other is call Voctave. Home Free is similar to Pentatinox, but more country. Both Home Free and Pentatinox were winners of show here in the US called " The Sing Off". The show was a contest among A Capella groups and both Pentatinox and Home Free were 1st place winners and got a recording contract and $200,000 as a prize. I believe that helped both of them. The other A Capella group is Voctave and they are an 11 piece group. They are more traditional and do appearances at Disney World in Orlando as well a some local touring at Christmas time. Knowing what you like, you will like both of these. This is pretty high end stuff. Thanks Jez, We love you. With love from Florida Home Free czcams.com/video/znoV5gND9g0/video.html Voctave czcams.com/video/aBCukAJwKN0/video.html

    To get around the copyright problem change things up, stopping the video or changing it someway will help. You'll enjoy the rabbit hole. I call them changing it being "Pentacized". They have a way of improving the song. They do it all including the percussion and bass, they use very little in the way of filters. An example was during the 90s dance medley they admittedly used auto-tune for the Cher song, it's called the "Cher effect"
