    I at first used wratchet straps with hooks on the end , after driving about a quarter mile I stopped and checked my straps and they were loose getting ready to fall off , I switched out the ends getting rid of the hooks and installed big carabiners instead , piece of mind now because even if the straps become a little loose the carabiners keep them from falling off and so the scooter can't fall off the carrier

      I agree. I’ve switched it up myself just to be on the safe side.

    I welded a loop at the front to catch the wheel and hold the bike while you strap it up ,, also 2 x turn bucles from the frame to the foot pegs get rid of all the straps , I carry a DRZ400E behind our motor home ,, we have done 12000 K`s so far with no drama , Do you have the anty wobble clamp in the tounge to stop the rack wobbling , its a bolt and 2 x plates that tighten the tounge (Takes out the slop !

      Yes, I do have a anti-wobble hitch stabilizer that I use. The hitch carrier wasn't really too bad at all, it's just that I've always used an anti-wobble stabilizer with pretty much everything I've hauled. I never had any problems using this carrier though.

    I just saw this and wondered if it was still holding up well? With constant weight and all? I want to get one for my honda ruckus but the wheel base will be a few inches longer than stock

    • @Subariblet
      @Subariblet  Před 5 lety +1

      It's remains in excellent condition. I've never had any problems with it.

      Have you found anything for the ruckus? I have one myself and it's pretty modified. I'm curious if this will work, or if there's a better option?

    I’m looking to do this with my 282 pound scooter attached to my Subaru Outback, but from what I’ve read it says the tongue weight limit is 200 pounds. Do you know how heavy yours is? I love this approach and I’d love to use it, I’m just afraid of messing something up

    • @Subariblet
      @Subariblet  Před 3 lety

      My scooter is 205 pounds. I have a 2 inch receiver though so I don't know if that makes a difference. I just know that I've never had a problem.

    Can your car handle that amount of payload on the hitch? I am looking to do a similar set up with my Nissan Murano carrying a Honda Grom.

    • @Subariblet
      @Subariblet  Před 6 lety

      Oh yeah, no problem. However, I put a 2" hitch on my Crosstrek. All I can say is from my personal experience is that this works great on my car and I've never noticed any problems or issues. Your Grom weighs about 20 pounds than my Kymco Agility but I doubt that would make much difference.

    • @Subariblet
      @Subariblet  Před 2 lety

      It can carry 500 lbs. If you click on the description part of the video you will see the link to Amazon. It gives much more detail.

    I drive a Jeep, there's a spare tire on the back do you think I would need to get a hitch extension? It doesn't seem like it settles too close to the car

    What size is the moped ... I mean scooter .. 😉 I just purchased a 150cc and am nervous about the weight for these types of carriers?

      They are somewhat tame. They will come up to you and eat sunflower seeds out of your hands and you can pet them, even though they live out in the woods.

  • @trustme7731
    @trustme7731 Před 3 lety +1

    Sorry, I can't agree with anything you did.
    Starting with the carrier itself, I wouldn't have one with the rods for a floor. Scooter tires are small and it's unlikely to have the correct spacing. Also harder to roll a scooter over them.The ramp is way too short. I would never trust cam buckles. Yours were already loose when you drove off. Also, they had the worst style of hooks which are not turned 180 degrees and very likely to fall off. You see these things scattered all over the highways.

      In all honesty, you are correct, but when someone says "moped" to someone else, they generally picture this type of vehicle. Potato, Potahto. It's just not that important to me.

    This is a horrible way to transport a scooter. Use ratchet tie downs not the crap shown in the video. Also you can buy plug in tail lights that are magnetic, your taillights are covered by the scooter, that’s a ticket for sure. I gave your video a thumbs down
