  • Wanting to keep my son involved in our projects, we assemble an Anderson lower and put a Radical Firearms 10.5 inch upper on it. Experienced AR guys will want to go straight to the range test where we test ASC and C-Products mags for function. Not entirely happy with the performance of either.

    It’s great to have your son participate in the builds. Keep the builds coming.

    Get yourself a KAK shockwave brace, you'll love it.

      It just came in the mail yesterday. Ordered it and the tube during Black Friday for $49.

    For the Radical Firearms upper, if you haven't, it might be worth giving it a once over with some loctite. I just went over a friends 5.56 pistol, the gas block and rail had rattled loose after a about 700 rounds. Have fun and hope it all works out well for you.

      I'll do that, thanks for the heads up.

      Otherwise he hasn't had any issues and it's been really good for the price.

    For me personally, I've had the best luck "pistoling" lol with a 2 point sling cinched around the weak hand and pushed forward against the sling, makes a world of difference on follow up shots with my M92.

      I just got a sling, I'm going to put a Magpul MS3 sling on it.

    I like your work and I usually mind my own business but... It's wonderful that you get your children involved in your projects. I have to ad that you are very brave to allow comments on your CZcams submissions that your kids are in. Is it the best idea? Comments can get beyond cruel.

    Hey there, let me first state that i'm a huge fan - you're totally the reason I got into building AK's back in the day, especially with the Toth Tools, I used your step by step videos to help me build my first AK!! I even uploaded some vids of my own just for fun. Anyhow, I have quite a bit of experience with these x39 AR builds. I have found that Hardened Arms 16" 7.62x39 uppers work amazing! I have one on a Rock River standard lower receiver. I have used both the Cproducts and ASC magazines in that build and several others. I have found that both 30 round, 'AK style' magazines work well. What i have found that DOES NOT work well, is the Cproducts 10 rounders. I cannot get them to work at all with more than 5 or 6 rounds in the magazine. I built my own little 10" x39 upper, and that wouldn't feed from any of the above-listed mags - and I just couldn't get it to ever run reliably. I wonder if these x39 pistol builds don't have enough gas port pressure? Not sure, just throwing that out there...

      I'm glad you like the videos, it is encouraging to know I'm helping people. I'm not sure it's a gas pressure issue, the bolt does lock back, I am going to be uploading a video where I did modify the ASC mags to work a lot better. I do hate them though.

    i bought 2 complete RF's 7.62x39 - 16'\" bbl.'s uppers and they been very good so far with ASC mags. really can't beat the price.

      btw, i polished feed lips on all mags. wish magpul made mags. for bench rest shooting like 10rd.er's.

    on all my builds during breakin i lube the hell out of the bolt. I have had about 6 rifles out of the dozen+ i have build need to be lubed to hell shot a few times, broken down then cleaned and standard lubed.
    this seems to be more prominent with "budget" parts, but not exclusive. After initial breakin they seem to wear any metal together and function perfectly. this includes a 7.62x39 rifle with all PSA parts and upper.

    I have a 7.62x36 ar rifle with a 16" barrel. I use the ASC mags, I have 5 of them that work perfectly fine. One that I bought did not feed properly at all and had to be returned though. They are definitely hit or miss... Nice looking pistol though!

    Drill the gas port to 7/64ths polish the feed ramps. Remove the vertical bead on the magazine near feed lips, file from end of mag slightly and wolf extra power hammer spring .

    • @ginsboy2003
      @ginsboy2003  Před 7 lety

      Something else guys are doing is they are using a extra power buffer spring and not modifying the magazines. I prefer to get the mags working smoothly by removing the vertical bead as you suggested.

    Any reason you didn't use a PSA KS-47 lower? I know you have AK mags and this eliminates one of the issues with reliability.

    • @ginsboy2003
      @ginsboy2003  Před 7 lety +1

      I know a guy who has the KS47 and he has more problems with it. If you shoot it with the mag. resting on something like the table or hold the mag, it forces it up and stops the bolt from moving.

    • @cookec
      @cookec Před 7 lety

      good to know. Since you're review of the Mutant I've pretty much given up on the AR15 variants in 7.62x39, but I've still held onto the idea of an AR that takes AK mags.... I might have to reconsider that now ;)

      @ginsboy2003  Před 7 lety

      Watch my video on 3 simple mag tweaks to make the mutant more reliable. I explain why it and the KS47 have issues with ak mags. and how to fix it.

    • @ginsboy2003
      @ginsboy2003  Před 7 lety

      I've just editing another video showing what was happening with the ASC mags. Due to poor manufacture it takes a lot of force to get the rounds out of the magazine. About twice what it took with the C-products mag. I measured the force required with a trigger pull gauge.

      Haha, yea he hates being on camera unless he is shooting because he shoots well. He's to self conscious, I guess I was at that age. Who cares what people think. You gotta involve your kids as much as possible, even if they aren't entirely thrilled about it. He's happy now to tell his friends he helped build an AR pistol!

    I build 3 ARD (AR15DEPOT.COM) 7.62X39 rifles base on 80% lowers16" 7.5" and18" stainless . the only problems i had where magazines. I had to put a lot of work in to the mags.
    The 10rnd mags where great but the 20 and 30rnd gave me problems.
    I get 1-2" groups from the 16" and the 18". and i get consistant hits on a 12" steel plate at 650 yards with GT AMMO. Wolf ammo is good only to 500 -550.

    • @ginsboy2003
      @ginsboy2003  Před 7 lety

      It's a shame nobody can make a magazine for these that don't give problems in one way or another.

  • @Jmac0518

    I know I'll catch some crap for saying this but this is why 7.62x39 AR's are stupid.

    • @ginsboy2003
      @ginsboy2003  Před 7 lety

      Well if we could get manufacturers to make higher quality parts it wouldn't be so stupid. The ammo cost is the main driving factor for trying to get them to work reliably. A lot of people have. I shot a 7.62x39 AR Faxon Firearms built and it ran flawlessly.
