When he died some years ago I was lucky in getting his last wish granted after being pointed in the right direction by an ex CPO I worked with ,

About 15 mins in there was a knock at the door, stocky little guy in a sheepskin coat, Bentley ticking over just behind him. He said that he was looking for an old friend who used to live in the area. I said that I didn't know the name. He then said that he was arranging a big party because he had come into a lot of money and was emigrating. He went on to say that he was in the SAS, was involved in the embassy siege and had to leave the country for a little while afterwards because it was "on top". What a wanker. As he drove off I took the registration number of the car, one number and two letters. I went into work the following day and PNC checked it. I rang the owner, the CEO of a large company. I told him my story. "That's my chauffeur" he said "he dropped me off at the Metropol Hotel in Solihull and had about three hours to kill." He was in the catering corps. He assured me that he would have strong words with the guy. I said "Tell him that the young copper from Solihull isn't as big a twat as he clearly looks."
