    Thanks wondered how to narrow one. Are you use flux core or gas welder?

    • @hotrodhustle5456
      @hotrodhustle5456  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm using a flux core I've had good results with it in the past. however, one this rear I'm going to go back over all the welds with a stick welder using a 7018 rod just for a little extra strength. thanks again for subing and watching the content

    What did you do about the axles? They have to be shortened also,correct? The video was very helpful just didn't see what you did to the axles.

      Hey brother thanks for commenting I got these axles used from the swap meet. I used a cut off wheel to remove about an inch of splines on each axle

    Hey, how you doing, buddy I'm trying to do that to my rear end. But I'm not shorting it Just trying to put different brackets on it like your doin To fit my emergency break.Bracket That goes over my roaders Do I need to take out the whole carrier

    • @hotrodhustle5456
      @hotrodhustle5456  Před 7 měsíci

      As long as you don't get any metal shavings or welding Slag inside the tubes you should be fine leaving the carrier in iwould pack some rags or a old shirt in there to try and keep it clean

    Put those end weld on pieces in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes then they will drop on

    • @hotrodhustle5456
      @hotrodhustle5456  Před rokem

      that is a good idea i could even hit the tubes with a little freon or n2o to cool them down thanks for the input

      @@hotrodhustle5456 housings are newer straight, when you make it shorter , parts just wont line up correctly. You should have a centering tool to make it straight, rigid rod that goes through third member and both bearing caps.. Usually you have to use heat or press to get everything lined up.

      Thank you for elaborating I agree that is the best way to do it but the element bar is expensive and not everyone can afford one I have been running an axle I did this same way for 6 years and haven't had bearing or spline issues this is just my personal experience thank you again for your comments
