After a few sporadic years it feels like I need to do some catching up. No agenda other than sharing what's most present for me. I hope my story can encourage someone else on their journey.

Evan, I've been watching and listening since back in 2016 when you had Greig Fraser and Joe Simon on the podcast. Those early videos about pricing and clients have helped me along more than once in my career. It's a vulnerable thing to put your progress on the internet, but I'm glad you did. Evan, so much respect to you for sharing your story and journey and the courage it took to film this. I worked creative and tech for 5 years for churches and it was one of the most toxic and debilitating experiences. Your comment about all the interactions stacking up is truth, in a lot of ways. It's also really hard to balance pursuing a dream and protecting yourself and your family. Keep speaking truth. You don't owe anyone anything - hope this is a turning point for you, man. Dude I so appreciate your honesty and your integrity. I've been following you for most of my carrier at this point, and you being truthful and giving these warnings about the industry has helped me start out with and keep healthy boundaries, both in the church as well as the wider film industry.

I've always just stuck to my own projects with the clients I have personally. The industry sounds like a nightmare and financially I've not gotten much figured out but I continue to learn and shape my own processes

I just want to share that alot of my emotional issues have gotten much more subdued after consuming Omega 3 supplements. After taking them I feel more human, less quick to anger, less anxious, and more emotionally solid. I think modern diets strip us from the amount that we should be consuming. Nordic naturals 2x or Barleens (liquid) flavored are great. I'd explore using it and see if you notice any emotional regulation from it. Do like 4grams a day to start. It's expensive, but so worth it. I believe that it gives you an emotional superpower to handle the world.
Sorry this all happened to you Evan. You've helped me a lot on my career and you'll always have my respect as a professional, a mentor, and a colleague. These managers and middle-men have made their fortunes off our creativity, effort, and energy. You've been a target because you're a maverick; and for that, I've got endless respect for you.

@@ebourcier Its been good! There were some low points and high points. My career has taken unexpected turns the last few years but I am blessed to still make a living as a cinematographer. I mostly work in social media commercial though, hoping to one day pivot into some more doc/narrative; something that tells stories first over selling products. I hope yours has been good, glad that you're posting again!
