    I think the fact the he sounded so surprised when he said to sagira it can see your light meant that the many many times he's been in the infinite forest they where never able to see her until recently with the whole light explosion and now they can .

    I posted this on another vid, but I believe that Osiris didn't realize he walked into a simulation in the Infinite Forest. He probably believed he walked into the VoG in the middle of a raid, not knowing that the Vex can now see and simulate our Light. It's only when he opens the second portal when he sees something to make him question where he is. He then goes to investigate, when Sagira realizes the Minotaur moved. I think the Vex were playing possum, since they have total control of the Infinite Forest. When he realizes that they can see Sagira's light, that's also his realization of where he is, what the Vex have accomplished, and what he saw in that second portal.

      This is another possibility. This or the Vex just leveled up and can now tap into the light source. Not thoroughly wield it as intended by the Traveller though, but at least they made some progress in this area like the Cabal and the Hive had done before them.

      Agreed, we know the vex can manipulate time. To me it seems as though Osiris & Sigera believe it's an actual past event playing out, one of many which they've traveled through time to see some other event or possible parallel events. Also, it maybe just pure mischief...but for what reason would Sigera be taking the time to aim multiple vex weapons elsewhere if it was just a simulation.

    Love this video the only thing I have to say is that when you're talking about the Vex and being able to see the light, Osiris was very dramatic and in a questioning context, stating that the Vex could see Sagiras light not his. Segira was the one lit up. so it makes you wonder if something to do with the fact of robotics. I'm literally 2 hours away from finishing my video on the "Reveal Stream" too, so that's the only reason I'm in detail of it. P.s. I usually do "How to" videos, and this is the first time I've done an informational video. I got to say mad props to you Byf... It's taking so long and not nearly the same quality of yours. Furthermore Osiris sent her back using another sequence he knew would lead to a time in which ghaul had been defeated and was in a time of ‘peace’ with the knowledge that he’s seen a timeline where Sageerah was with D2 guardians

    Hey Byf love your stuff i hope you read this cuz i think its an interesting question. maybe you have already tought about it or gotten suggestions about the idea but seeing as osiris has been traveling around in the vex system there is something that springs to mind even if he is traveling in the vex system should he not to have been effected by the traveler being sealed by ghaul during the red war and would that not make him lose his ability to hide from the vex whit in the vex system. If he was to lose his light at that point can this be an explanation for why he is able to use the new warlock sub class or did he trough out his travel in the vex system see a future were he learned to use dawn blade and is it possible that being inside the vex system that connects past and future that he was able to connect to the light trough a different time stream. Just spitballing here but if you have not had any ideas on this maybe you will read this and find some inspiration for explaining this in a future vid.

      That may just be a gameplay change, meaning that in the lore strikers could always run with super. Just like how in this cutscene Osiris using his super for all of 5 seconds and moves around in the air with it very strangely compared to how we can in game. It may all just be gameplay decisions that have no connection lore, after Destiny is a game first.

    A little side note to help reinforce the basis of this video Byf, the scene where you see a Goblin start walking sideways along the stairway at 6:58 is in fact the Vex simulating the ghost's light, as it's able to predict that Osiris was going to throw the Ghost into that portal. Hence, this is why you saw that Goblin take a single pot shot at it. :)

    So, this isn't so much a theory but rather a connection I made. The Infinite Forest seems to be a CS Lewis reference. In the Narnia prequel The Magician's Nephew, the main characters have rings that transport the wearer to a strange forest. Being in the forst seems to have effects such as amnesia (although this subsides once you leave) and by using a different kind of ring travelers may use these pools or ponds to travel to worlds that are linked to the forest.

  • @lorcan0c
    @lorcan0c Před 6 lety

    They did say on stream that the 'wave of light' from the Traveller is what triggered the gateway to the Infinite Forest to open on Mercury. So there's a strong case to be argued that the Vex can now simulate Guardians now that they understand what the Light is, as a result of such massive exposure to it. Which could be why Osiris is worried. Now that they can anticipate us, they can alter their plans and create a new Pattern that will negate the one advantage we've had against the Vex up to this point, our unpredicitablity, our immunity from cause/efffect.

  • @RaiuShinohana
    @RaiuShinohana Před 6 lety

    One thing I noticed during the cutscene that I had hoped you'd talk about more in depth:
    The moment the "entity" can "see Sagira's light", we see one Goblin move off to the side. Now that only has me concerned due to the one particular mission on Nessus where we access a bunch of vex data caches. They make a huge fuss over telling us how the vex CAN'T SIMULATE our light and how they REALLY like our Ghosts. (As we've seen with Asher's)
    The thing is the Vex are a collective mind. I'm convinced that they 100% KNEW that Osiris was going to throw Sagira and moved over to get that shot that strikes her. Why it would still kind of stumps me, assuming they want to capture her, why would they essentially shoot her into the portal allowing her escape? That's only a sub-point though, the main thing is, for whatever reason, I'm convinced that the Vex knew he was going to throw her.
    We can even see that Goblin looking at the entity before re-positioning. I'd like to hear your more focused thoughts on this if you get the chance.
    Cheers.

    My only problem with the idea that Osiris and his ghost are in a simulation is that why are they able to be damaged/hurt by the vex within the simulation? Isn't it more likely that Osiris is actually travelling through the timelines? That would explain why all the guardians are wearing year 1 gear, why they are seemingly "frozen", and why he was so surprised when the Vex were able to react to his being there without disturbing the other guardians! The Vex are basically omnipresent, so it makes sense that even in our past they would be capable of receiving the ability to see our light after the events of Ghual from our future. I just don't see how even a Vex simulation could pose a physical threat to someone like Osiris, a simulation is after all an event that takes place in theory.

    I thought it odd because I thought Osiris was saying " Sagira, they can't see your Light?" And Osiris had this realization just now to be very strange since Osiris knew the Vex cannot simulate the power of Guardians or Ghosts.
    However having it clarified that Osiris notes the Vex are able to see and simulate Sagira's adds tremendous gravity to the situation like you mentioned Byf. However I'd like to point out they can't see Osiris's Light...only Sagira's. Which to me means that they are only starting to become capable of simulating the Light, but haven't finished their analysis just yet.
    The dark timeline Osiris saw is likely a simulation or even a "reality in progress" of the projected results of their finished analysis. If the Vex can simulate and predict the paracasual powers of the Light from the Traveller or the abilities of the Darkness they'd have everything they'd need to finish their ultimate pattern.
    That pattern is: No Light, No Gods, Nothing else but Vex.

  • @Sandrock323
    @Sandrock323 Před 6 lety +1

    I think the biggest detail was that Sigira's light was seen by the Vex, but Osiris's light was not. This implies two distinct possibilities; A) Although Guardians are paracausal, Ghosts are not and as such can be simulated. B) Osiris is able to mask his light, or he has no light. Seeing as how he used Dawnblade, he would have to draw that power from somewhere.

    Maybe the Vex can simulate the Light of Guardians thanks to Cayde when he was trapped on Nessus?

    I get the impression that the Vex still can’t actually simulate Light (its cause, how it is able to be utilized), but can simulate the effects Light has in the atmosphere and whatnot. This means that the Vex have to rely on previous encounters with Guardians in order to gather data on the Light, rather than simply calculate future variables and causalities, as they can do for the rest of reality (they can already simulate entire universes after all). This is why they can ‘simulate’ the Vault of Glass in this trailer. They are just using old data based solely on the Guardians abilities and their effects, not the Light itself, to attempt to understand the Light. If the Vex had been able to simulate the Light anywhere in the lore’s history, humanity would never have stood a chance against them.
    What do you guys think?
    Great vid, Byf, Love your content.

    I have a question BYF if the vex can predict and then counter their enemies why did they have so much trouble with the cabal on Mars and then the Red Legion? If I'm not mistaken D1 mentioned that it seemed as tho the vex where in fact losing ground. How can that be if they have the power to simulate any and all outcomes concerning enemies besides us guardians?

    • @montecarlo2030
      @montecarlo2030 Před 6 lety +1

      Stephen Schlitt The simulations merely allow them to know how to defeat the enemy. They still have to fight hands on. The cabal are brawny AF and easily beat the vexes little bodies. The Gorgons and Oracles are the only vex capable of directly erasing things from time

    There's an *extremely* simple explanation as to why Osiris has Dawnblade: It's not "new". The lore on the Arcstrider subclass states that they've been around since the Dark Age. They just weren't seen in Destiny 1 "because video game", as Byf likes to say. All of the Destiny 2 subclasses have been around *long before* the beginning of Destiny 1. We just hadn't encountered them in our early adventures.

      Geth Infiltrator Thank you, I've pointed this out elsewhere (The Destiny subreddit) but it didn't seem to get much notice.
      All of the new subclasses are evolved forms or atleast different extensions of the 2nd subclasses from D1. They are pretty much forgotten arts/techniques were not widely used for one reason or another in favor of Defender, Bladedancer, and Sunsinger.

    Hey byf, you do a terrific job fleshing out the deep,rich lore of destiny and by jove your voice even amplifies the awesomeness. Curious to know, do you have discussions with the writing and story team to go through the lore and in your opinion do you think they are well equipped with the knowledge of the destiny universe in terms of lore? I'm might come off a little patronizing pardon me, but I ask out of curiosity because the way the lore is implemented in the actual story so far is severely dry, unpolished and mediocre at best and my reason why I love your channel is you ingeniously craft such a grandiose narrative to this game's profound lore that you manage to capture even the most stoic and apathetic destiny players such as myself.

    I don't think they're simulating Guardians, nor that the "Vault of Glass" is a replay of a previous encounter with Guardians.
    I think that this happens shortly after the start of the DLC. A team (such as ours) has found the entrance to the Infinite Forest and are looking for clues as to what happened to Osiris. In our initial incursion, we don't realize we miss him by a moment.

    Hello byf
    I've been chatting on the destiny forums and a thought hit me about Osiris and his less then spectacular appearance in the dlc and wondered what your thoughts or if I've missed or forgotten something that kicks my idea out the window. Below is what I added to the forum chat which hopefully still makes sense.
    Could it be that we have not even seen the real osiris? I can't quite remember since the story wasn't memorable but I don't think we actually ever see Osiris as our guardian and even in the cut scene he is inside the forest. Maybe he is so mediocre because that's the only parts of him that can be replicated in simulation. His powers, the radiance and even proper reproduction of his image (we only see the strange yellow light version) couldn't be reproduced because vex tech cannot simulate the light. But it's still the powerful guardian in some respect so the copied personalities were able to kind of break free from the programme to some extent, because Osiris even faked is a powerful and resourceful man. The real osiris is gone and that's why saint 14 is dead too. He knew his friend too well to be fooled by these images so he kept looking and fighting and trying to destroy the vex for their deceit maybe assuming they held his friend. Maybe a slither of the Osiris clones remembers saint 14 and that love for his brother infected the vex just enough for that shrine to be built and forgotten about, so saint 14 can finally get the rest he needed, he deserved and should have had.
