- So after we picked up this cheap Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 the other week, we quickly started getting on with the best mods to go off roading, now in this video we are carrying on with the best off roading mods for any 4x4! So let's get this TD5 ready to go off roading!
So in the last video we installed the mud tyres to the TD5, but the 33inch tyres are now hitting the arch, so firstly we need to get the grinder out and start cutting away so we can have enough clearance. The next thing is; when we bought the car there was a snorkel half fitted to the car, but the the snorkel would not be doing anything if we go under water, so we BADLY need to get the snorkel fitted to the Land Rover, but also fully sealed as we do NOT want water getting into the intake.

You need to relocate the ECU if you plan on going through deep deep water or put it in a water tight container where it is

It’s a good idea to either relocate the ecu or seal it up in a sandwich box. As that will get wet and cause you lots of issues.

Be careful of the ecu behind the headlight. If you get water over the bonnet it's likely to get water in and die. Recovered multiple td5s from that issue. Best way is to relocate it or at least make the compartment water tight
Or buy a harness and relocate it in the glove box or higher up in the rood lining. 👍

You can replace the air box connector with a rubber version which is fully waterproof and lasts for years

Not to be a proper downer but please put goggles on. I've seen a lad who I worked with in a garage get hit in face with a cutting disc when it shattered absolutely grim. Loving the disco content something new 👊🏻👍🏻

Love the content. You always make me laugh with what you do and the fuck it attitude 😂 Me and my mates used to do alot of green lanes in jeep cherokees, the more stuck we got the more fun it was. Always got out eventually though. One of the best mods i did was a mahoosive light bar 👍

You need to silicone the rubber bung underneath the airbox too, no need to silicone the airbox lid !

Am sure you already know but if not the tyres are on the wrong way. That tread pattern is directional. The drivers side wheels need to be on the passenger side for max grip etc in mud etc.
Now the sealant has cured, you can test if it’s actually sealed by putting a plastic bag over the snorkel end and seeing if the engine stalls

Can’t believe you’ve sealed the airbox lid up (didn’t need to) and you didn’t even clean it out and Chuck a new filter in before you did….
Need to bag up the ecu if you plan sending a td5 through water if you don’t you will need to buy another one verry soon
I do have a spare, but I’ll bag it up!
Put do the same with the bag as you have with the airbox will slow the water down that little bit more
That pipe that goes into air box isn’t proven to be water tight, need todo the silicon hose mod to replace it, also Wouldn’t plan on going too deep in water, your engine ecu is only behind the battery. 😅😅

High level air intakes are for extreme dusty environments. It won’t save you if deep wading.
