Honestly I would try it but the cost is way too high here in the US. It runs between $60 to $90 USD.

And (sorry for the spam, lol) I'm glad to see you eat it the way we do today in Sweden! However, do keep in mind that when this food was consumed hundreds, maybe even a thousand years ago, people did not have potatoes (didn't know what it was!), no sour cream and no onion. It was eaten much more simply, kinda like the "straight out of the can" videos that you find online with some pieces of turnips on the side perhaps. Now with modern cuisine you can make it more palatable as you did here with the extra stuff to ease up on the intense saltiness and distinctive flavour.

Our original video around 2 years ago was trialled as you Swedish people would have had it the way you describe pre-potato. We’re pleased to have trialled it both ways now!

Im sure its pointed out already, but opening the can in a bucket of water neutralizes the smell and the squirting of fermented herring juice.
It does but it also means I don’t get the camera shot of the pressurised juice spraying across the garden 😉

Opening the can out of water is preferred, since you get an initial chock that makes it smell less afterwards
