  • What's going on guys! Welcome back for another video, thank you for clicking and taking the time to watch it. This intake actually impressed me quite a bit. i wasn't sure what to expect considering when I made the purchase it only had a few reviews and It was being sold on Amazon. You can almost notice as I begin making progress in the install video I appreciate the build quality and Intake more and more. By the next day driving around town, my Heat soak from my previous set up with the old filter just sitting there exposed, was completely gone! I mean a 90 Degree day driving for 30 minutes and Still felt considerable performance from my engine. The day I Sold my Carbon Cold Air snorkel and Installed that old filter onto my intake tube I could tell a major difference in performance once I spent some time in traffic driving the car etc. That heat shield and insulation on this new set up has 100% contributed to what I think is an increase in performance from the reduction in intake temps.
    I hope you guys enjoyed the video and my Sound effects lmao! Love you guys! I'll see you next week on the next video!

    Ima get a new scoop when I install my intake & lay down heat shield gold tape to my radiator reserve & My coolant hoses so I can minimize the heat that is persisting into my cold air intake, Aswell as a shield hopefully I can either custom craft one from fiber glass & Heat shield tape or buy one online

  • @prestonworden9811
    @prestonworden9811 Před 3 lety +28

    I’m almost certain you’d want the heat tape on the opposite side of the metal housing to reflect heat, with it on the side with the filter it would likely magnify the heat entering the intake housing instead of bounce it off same with that filter cover you’d want it where you could see the tape and not by the filter.

    • @pythondon
      @pythondon  Před 3 lety +5

      @@pythondon if you did do what the guide instructed and it says to do that then the guide is most likely wrong as well then I’m 100% sure you’d want that tape to reflect the heat outside of the heat shield instead of radiate the heat that gets in the shield. What I can say is according to intake temp live data my cold air kit (AFE magnum) at speed is reading the same temps as the stock air box. At idle it is within a degree or two warmer. The cold air kit has arguably more “volume” and can flow more air because of the larger filter, not sure that matters on a non forced induction car. But what a cold air kit does do better than the stock air box is sound amazing.
    These will not increase power, but the sound is worth it in my humble opinion.

      When I did my intake on a M56 I went a step further and got those weird air scoop fins AFE sells. You need the air flow as efficient as possible due to all the heat from the bay, I hate how our radiator reservoir tanks are sooo close to the air filter, that things puts off serious heat.

      @@pythondon oh ya it’s an addition to the oem snorkel, really the product is overpriced tho. It defiantly helps direct air flow to the intake it’s self but may just slightly take away air going to radiator/engine as it redirects air. Wouldn’t in any way effect performance/cooling tho. @pythondon  Před rokem

      If your filter keeps falling off brother the Intake tube is not grabbing the inside lip of the filter itself. When you go to install your filter again, run your fingers all the way around the lip of the intake tubing to make sure the tubing is all the way secure around the intake lip. You should also be able to feel through the intake tubing the metal inside of the Filter lip. Make sure your clamp is grabbing onto that hard piece of the filter lip that is now inside the intake tubing. You can have the clamps tightened all the way but if they’re not grabbing that metal lip of the filter itself you are just squeezing the intake tubing and will actually cause the Filter to pop off.

      @@pythondon yeah, but even now you are missing the front air scoop. Which means you are still sucking in hot air from the engine bay. I would definitely recommend getting the factory scoop. I used the factory air box with k&n filter, cut a hole in the bottom and have a tube running down to the bumper with a large plastic funnel, that way it has a ram air effect. Also have the 330i intake manifold on my 328i with a tune.

      Good idea with the plumbing from underneath. Towards the end of my video i talk about the factory scoop and ducting
