    Dress up as your favorite Dragonball, Mario, Nintendo and Disney characters and drive through the streets of Tokyo on go karts. An amazing experience and one you will not ever forget.
    We visited Japan and heard about this on the internet and had to check it out. You can dress as a character, they have tons of costumes for you to wear, and drive the streets in a street legal go kart. They go about 50 MPH and are easy to control. If you visit Akihabara it's impossible to not see others driving through the streets dressed as Mario or Yoshi.
    It's a bit expensive at $60 USD a person for 2 hours and you will need an international drivers license.
    I stop talking at 17:55 if you are interested in just listening to the go karts and not a review.

    This video was very helpful. We all see the 10-30 second highlights in everyone's video showing how fun it is with the costume, etc, but realistically.. it's just sitting in traffic. Thank you!

      While you are 100% right, it's a lot of sitting in traffic it is also seeing the city in another perspective. Traffic gives you time to look around the city when you aren't driving.

      You should be! It was a really good time. With most things we do on vacation, I'm ok with doing it once and never again, but driving a go kart in the middle of Tokyo....that's something I will always want to do again and again.

    Chris: Do you know if they have specific hour slots? I want to do this during a layover in Tokyo but not sure what times they do the tours at. Didn't see on their website.

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 7 lety +1

      We did book ahead of time and there was a time slot that we signed up for. I would contact them, by email, and give them a time and they can set it up. I know it was painless setting a day and time.

    Hey, I have a question, when you went on this tour, were you accompanied by a guide? And also, were you with friends or is it just a bunch of strangers that go out together for their allocated time?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 6 lety +1

      Yes there is a guide for your group. There was 4 of us in a group and another group of 2 people, so 6 total. I think they try to get 6 or so in a group so you'll be in a group of your friends or strangers.

    Hi, I made reservations for my birthday this month. Are you able to get out at each stop ? Or is this just a drive tour ?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 6 lety

      When we went, we stopped 1 time at a mall to use the rest room. Other than that, you stop at 2-3 places to take a quick photo and get back in the kart. There aren't many stops to get out of but you can take lots of photos at all the red lights you stop at :D

    I'm gonna do this in Oct. My question is how tall are you? I am 6'2 so I am worried I won't fit. lol Can the seats move back?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 7 lety

      I'm 5'11" and didn't have an issue. The seat does move a decent amount so I don't think you'll have an issue. We all fit in and were comfortable once in. After getting out and standing my knees were a bit stiff but not in pain, I think just from being in the same position for a few hours. I do suggest bringing a video camera or camera with you, if you don't have one they have them for rent for like $3 an hour. It's worth it! There is a little pouch on each kart to hold stuff while driving, it's big enough for a can of soda, phone, wallet and other small things, so a good size.

    do recommend akhiabara or the tokyo street tour?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 5 lety

      Akihabara is what we did, so I would recommend that. We did drive through Tokyo at night which was awesome to see all the lights. I would try to get the tour that takes you day and night.

      Best way is to send a private message over youtube. Go to my page, the ABOUT tab, and send "private message".

    So just an US driver license doesn't work? I have to get an International permit too?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 6 lety

      The website states an international one is needed. When we arrived there, they asked for the international license and not for our US ones. Will they take a US one? I'm not sure but I also think it's illegal to drive without an international one or one from the region, I wouldn't risk it.

    Is it ok to wear a master chief cosplay?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 6 lety

      You can wear whatever you want. I'm pretty sure you can bring your own costume but they have many many costumes there for you to wear. You do not need to dress up unless you want to, so you can mix and match parts of costumes if you want.

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 4 lety

      I think it's the 2nd page, but I'm not sure. We went to tripleA to get it done. They also take your passport photo there for the license.

    What if you get left behind in the group?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 5 lety +1

      This trip I did get left behind because I was the last car and my car died. The guide noticed I was missing at the second turn and made sure everyone in the group was safe and came back to get me. Wasn't a big deal and they were very sorry and made sure I knew how sorry he was for the trouble and leaving me. Since I was the last car there was no way for him to see me.

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 4 lety

      No, the costumes were part of the price/fee. I think the biggest attraction is the costumes to be honest.

    Do u need a Japan driving license for this?

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 7 lety

      If coming from outside Japan, most countries have what's called an international drivers license. This is what we used and we were able to obtain them from TripleA for around $20. They take your picture as well for the license and you have to carry it with you when you drive.

    does anyone* recommend driving during the daytime vs driving in the night with city lights in tokyo??? Driving in 3 days, let me know if you see this comment. lol. thanks

    • @ChrisReviewsStuff
      @ChrisReviewsStuff  Před 4 lety +1

      We did a trip where half was during the day and the last half was at night. Driving through Tokyo with the lights on was amazing! Very cool and there were some Fast and Furious type cars out when we were driving. However, during the day you can actually see the sights with the sun up. It's really your call but I would try to get the afternoon trip so you can kinda do both.

      We only had 1 staff member with us which was fine until my car would not turn on and I was left behind by the group. It took a few minutes until he noticed I was missing but turned around once he noticed I was missing. I wish I caught this on camera but my gopro battery died.

      It's fun to see Japan on another level as a tourist. In the States we can't really ride go karts on highways so it's fun to do that as well. As you ride through the city people yell to you and take photos. To each their own.

    • @DungarooTV
