Thanks for watching this Mark's reviews and Tutorials video. Mark is not a trained mechanic. Just a car guy that loves to drive and work on cars. What I do here may not work on your car and I am not intending to give professional advice for you to work on your car. But if you do know a bit about cars then hopefully watching these videos will help you to sort out what is going on with your car. Mark is not liable or responsible for any damage you do or things that happen to your car or yourself.
Cars are complex and dangerous things and not only can you be hurt working on them but you can also do serious and expensive damage to your car.
Cars should be worked on by qualified people, don't over reach.
Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Literally did the same thing as you a few months ago. Thought I'd try repair the OEM one but couldn't get a good seal. Ultimately got one from Ali. Probably the same as yours as the packing looks identical. The motor is noisier than the OEM part but seems to work just fine. One thing that worries me a bit is that I've noticed some fine rust powder on the water nozzle. Not sure where that's coming from but hopefully not from inside the unit!

I watched a video where a guy bypassed the water inlet by using a brass r/angled elbow and tapping a thread into the shaft and connecting the hose direct which meant the water could not go into the motor and solved the problem. I have tried but can not find the video again. If anyone finds it please let me know.

That’s a LOT of money from BMW for an utterly shite design!
