Saddest thing I have ever seen. Being in the LEO community my entire adult life, this is embarrassing. This was either a deliberate situation, or the most incompetent bunch of so called professionals ever. That elevated rooftop could have easily been seen by the counter snipers. Why the hell didn’t they remove the President from the stage? They all had radio equipment. State and Locals have comms with the Feds. This should have never had to happen. BE YOUR OWN HERO FOLKS, BECAUSE THE ONLY PERSON TO SAVE YOU IS YOU. Take care Mike.

I agree brother. I had 15 years in. You can tell what ppl can or can't handle when they're under pressure. That one woman couldn't even holster her sidearm she was so worked up when they put Trump in the suv. The consequences of having an employee that falls apart under pressure are huge.

Mike, I'm a retired Arkansas State Trooper, and this is the best breakdown of this incident that I have seen. It was definitely an epic failure. I have been on 4 presidential security details and it's unbelievable that there was no security on that building. Thanks for your videos and God Bless the USA.

Don't you think it is a possibility that the failure of security was willful? How could they have been so incompetent? To start with, the head of security is a woman and she was hiring women.
Report out that the drone that was being used for air support was hacked/jammed.
A ladder on the building??? Sounds kinda like the security cameras were off and the guards were sleeping.. take that America..
If the picture I saw was from the event it wasn't attached to the building. So the guy must have put it there the day before. How did they not do a sweep and notice it or how did the guy get a ladder in there the day of the rally?

What I wonder where were the security drones? I can't believe that a modern day police department didn't have air security.
You obviously don’t know much about law enforcement and budgets…. Way to expensive for the use and benefit they get from a 1 time use.
The Secret Service have their own drones. It’s another section of the Secret Service!
Report that the Secret Service drone was hacked or jammed and grounded just before the attempt took place
We have small towns in our area (1,500 pop) that have police departments with high end drones that are regularly used and successful in locating people. They even have temperature sensing for locating subjects on them. One thing is the feds have to use non-Chinese drones, which have been found to be problematic. The local departments can use what they want and are often deployed over the feds (border patrol) because the feds drones have issues.

I hate to say this and a lot of people will be angy about this but, I saw an interview with the head of the Secret Service after the shooting and she appeared to more interested in DEI then what had happened. I have no faith that there will be any corrections made as long as she is in charge. She appears to be incapable of concentrating on the problems just the policy.
She and several others need walking papers!

Ever hear of the phrase, "If everyone is watching...no one is watching."? I feel that was the mindset of a lot of the security at the site. Now I hate to sound like an armchair quarterback because it is sooo easy to second guess decisions after the fact...BUT how come the powers that be who were in charge of security for the event did not sit down with a simple google earth photo and starting with a perimeter of 100 yards, every 100 yards out to 1 mile, identify the most likely places for a sniper to be and say, "We have to double check these areas". I'm with you Mike great video thumbs up.

Thank you Mike for your excellent reporting on this terrible occurrence. Your narrative is by far more concise than any of the major news brands that I have observed reporting on this. I am a retired law enforcement officer of over 30 years experience and I am appalled at what I saw, the major lapse in securing President Trump and protecting the rally attendees. The fact that an officer actually confronted the suspect and retreated is unbelievable to me. I hate to say it but that officer needs to find a new line of work, police work is not for him. The director of the Secret Service also needs to step down. This is such a glaring mistake that was made a first year rookie officer would know better. God saved President Trump and I am very sorry for the people injured and killed. My sad condolences to the Chief, God bless your family.

was so dissapointed that this was cut short by the lack of professionalism by our local law enforcement by noy stepping up. I agree with a lot of the commenters. Excellent video. Congress should view this video. I'm a retired police chief that was involved with a few dignitary visits. The SS was extremely thorough in their planning, logistics and assignments. We met multiple times before VIP arrivals and every advantage point had someone assigned. How that roof top and water tower were not covered is the epitome of incompetence. And, an officer climbing a ladder to look for a man with a gun without having his sidearm at the ready to engage is inexcusable.

I had seen some of the TV news before I happened to see your live. At that point you were the most trustworthy info to me. Your follow up today is outstanding. This location would be a security professionals' nightmare. The coordination of all the different agencies had to be nearly impossible.

No crazy nonsense no nothing but average everyday people who most likely feel like they’ve been let down by their government. And a man who risk it all trying to bring back hope to this country. Taken me a few days to digest what you went through. My heart goes out to your friend’s son, Bless him, who will never forget the rally. And for the family of Corey, who were, we’re told, only moved to the line of fire moments before.
As the good people of the world have had time to process this tragedy, I have been keeping you, Melissa, Hunter, your friends and all who attended the rally in mind. Bearing witness will take its toll over the years. A burden I cannot help but pray will be eased as we all advance along this path chosen by His will.
