It took me a good long while to get into Starfield, but now that I am, I'm freakin' hooked and I think it might be BGS's best game since Fallout 3--maybe. Here's a long explanation as to why I think the ending of Starfield is brilliant.

      Yes.

You have never been more wrong.
Starfield is bad, end of story. It's lazy, it's broken, it's out of date.
I'm disappointed you've been hoodwinked by Bethesda, like so many.
Edit: watched the video now. And I can't stop laughing. I can *guarantee* Bethesda did not put that much thought into things. You only have to look at how little thought they put into every other aspect of the game to know that.

Going to say NG+ was a missed opportunity in my opinion. It felt like a half measure or an after thought they tacked on. Almost like it was a mod someone made when there part of game development was finished. Saving constellation is the only meaningful change you can make in NG+. I felt icky romancing Andreja again and when ever a starborn dialogue option came up it was always I know what happens next and it happens. It never felt like it had meaning nothing changed most of the time I sounded like a lunatic. So for me NG+ was one of the worst parts of the game and it actively stops me from wanting to touch the main quest in any new playthroughs.

Honestly in my eyes, the Starfield Ending can be interpreted as... horrifying.
If you choose not to go into the Unity, the objective changes to say "Go to the Unity when you're ready"
And something Sarah says at once point... sticks with me when I think about that objective.
She says something about how curiosity will win eventually. You'll go the Unity one day. You'll take the leap. Because you can't ignore that curiosity forever. And she's probably right.
And then you go through it, and... your in another universe.
Your friends, your loved ones, your family. All those memories, those moments. Gone.
Your personal items, your home, your weapons and tools. Gone.
You can re-live it all. You can either use your knowledge of future events, or go through it all like you know nothing about it.
    Then there are the variations.
There are several where all of Constellation is murdered. Confirmed at least, 5 variations.
One even, where another version of You is the murderer.
There are a few where Constellation is missing or disbanded.
There's even one where Constellation is just a bunch of... You.
And think about what that would do to your psyche.
Seeing versions of the people you know dead. Seeing another version of yourself killing them. Seeing other versions of people you've known, killing others and/or having become so different from what you knew them as.
5 out of 10 unique variations literally kill off Constellation.
2 out of the remaining 5 have them go missing.
2 Out of the last 3 have them disbanded, 1 from old age, the other from being bought out.
And then just 1 where you meet a normal version of yourself that just dropped off the artifact with Constellation.
Out of 10, only 1 of those variations is... good.

They become vital refueling stations that you have to spiderweb outwards in order to reach the more distant systems, including Masada I might add.

When I started grinding for ng+10 I slowly realized that I was basically becoming the Hunter. I had stopped caring for anyone or anything because I knew they would eventually be left behind and 'wouldn't matter anyway'. So once I went through 2 or 3 loops all that mattered was reaching the unity as fast as possible so I stopped caring about who lived or died and became jaded and pragmatic myself, just like he did. At first I was pissed of the grinding I was forcing myself to do and that nothing I did mattered, then I realized that's probably how the Hunter became what he is. Hell yeah, even just a universe where the Crimson Fleet are blue instead would have been a cut above the alt universes you get. To put it into perspective, if you are in a universe where constellation members are dead/incapable/retired or only vasco is alive (and cant be your companion... for some reason) it's virtually identical to a "starborn at the start of introductions" playthrough because either way you barely interact with constellation at all. You don't even really meet Andreja or Barrett you just get all the pieces and go.
The fact is, the only thing alt universes really alter is one room :( which is sad. Personally I dont think anyone should have to repeat the temple or artifact quests ever, either. and sadly, most of the upgrades from +1 to +10 for the powers is just reduced stat requirements or extended effect length. Which can be... bad, in some cases, like with the slow time one.

I hate to say it.. but I'm looking forward to the modding community fixing that and adding in more content like they have for Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas. I have been replaying Tale of Two Wastelands (combination of FO3 and FONV with extra content and quests) and Fallout 4 with Sim Settlements 2 (all 3 chapters) and it greatly changes those games. That along with the new graphics textures and reshade/ENBs and the old Fallout games become basically new remakes.
I am absolutely looking forward to the same thing from Starfield. There will be new/different faction quests and new radiant missions with new models and exploring will be necessary.. outposts will get better, etc. Hell, you will even be able to put doors and ladders where you want on your ships 😂
That is not to give Bethesa a pass.. But modders will make this game better just like they have for the rest. I don't support that Bethesda releases trash that others have to fix.. However I do accept that it will happen and I am looking forward to it happening as I will get great enjoyment from it.

Keeper aquilis is a variant of the hunter who has retired from the race to Unity. I thought it was so odd, that the unity ending was baked into the narrative and you couldn't really choose "no".
When visiting the multiverse, seeing those people who used to know me and I used to know them. When I saw the person who used to be my wife, to whom I was now completely alien, I was somehow reminded that the most valuable part of my playtrhough was lost, when I enterd the unity. Yet entering the unity is baked into the story in a way, that forces you to lose it.

It would be great if the multiverse time loop concept was cranked to 11! Like, "Hey, Sarah, can you take 2 steps to the left please" and some environmental event that would cause personal injury or some rescue quest would be derailed completely, causing completely new experience… or some interaction that would take 4 multiverse attempts to make right, each one unlocking some sort of new development you'd have to consider next time.
Or some calamity that is hidden from 2 factions having a tussle, and their problems would feel miniscule in the grand scheme of things… like a planetary disaster… solar flare or meteor strike, that you know of ahead of time.

The overarching idea was great, but the amount and depth of content simply doesn’t realize the potential. Mods will do the job eventually, of course.

I'd take it even further and note that the 'strange universes' also offer BGS a way to integrate story DLC in rly neat ways that let them retcon anything they want to in service of exploring alternate timelines such as to recontextualize things in the 'main' timeline. They also now have openings for story mods to slot into neatly without it upsetting canon. There are major meta themes in the end game/NG+ too. Like, at first the decision to go w/Hunter seems comically evil but if you play thru NG+ a few times you find that you too are just accruing power for the sake of power and you likely aren't fretting the 'evil' decisions you make en route to that goal, which is precisely the situation the Hunter is in.
There is also a neat thread about the maternal effort to steer fate in one universe only to have your efforts be entirely upset and discarded in the next. There could be some DLC or mods down the road that have us exploring things like starting our own religion and following in the shoes of the Pilgrim (which reflects a lot of the themes that the Emissary espouses). Plus, in an effort to guide or enlighten ppl in some new Universe, what do those decisions we make even rly mean?
Questions remain too. What happened to the crew we had that went thru the Unity w/us? Will we learn more about the Creator(s)? Can we find our lost crew by somehow reaching across the universes to find them (maybe this is what Shattered Space will be about?)...could we meet the Pilgrim one day?
For as incredibly strong as the ending was wrt closure and reflecting back on our various decisions, it's pretty incredible there are still so many deep, lingering, compelling questions left to explore and resolve. In a way, the 'bazookas and golden lugers' are the knowledge of how things can play out from previous playthrus. In an industry where everything revolves around serving players a mindless power fantasy, especially wrt NG+, I loved the story of Starfield and emphasis on exploration and its themes about free will and choice/consequences and exploring mysteries for the sake of the question and not just some loot as a reward.

My character got sucked into a different universe in the original quest and wasn't going to seek Unity for themselves until then. Now they're seeking their original universe a la Sliders in hopes of one day seeing their real parents, while trying to do good deeds along the way because the Hunter doesn't get that the people in these universes, while not MY group of people, are still people and don't deserve to have their lives interrupted by people agreeing like they're game pieces. I also don't vibe with the Emissary because who tf does he think he is to Gatekeep a gift meant for all mankind? He could be doing his plan already but instead he's no better then the Hunter. I almost always manage to talk them both out of violence. God, I missed being able to doing that in Fallout 4, they never let you silver tongue your way out of shit in that one.

I think people especially longterm gamers need to understand that studio's have a *vision* that they keep to. Its like when you play this game, you know its a bethesda game. THat is something that a gamer / dev would be diffrerent on though (in some aspects) because they understand more of whats under the hood.
The thing is, everything that your explaining isn't a *problem* I'd say save the quest thats bugged. That is the only thing that needs *fixing* from what your saying. So when *modders* go into the game and make their creations, its their visions of what THEY think a combat system should be.
Thats the thing *gamers* don't really understand, is the difference between something that is an opinion of a change and something that actually affects whether or not you can play the game at all (the difference between being ready for shipping and not being ready)
You listed a bunch of opinoins of what you don't about the game, which is cool. The problem, is when you think that the modding community is *fixing* things. They are interms of lets say day 1 bug fixes, but stealth overhauls, *flying everywhere in space* things that are very subjective (like pretty much everything you said in your video is) So they are injecting their vision of mechanics (which again is fine, thats literally why its made in that way)
You said the stealth is broken right? Thats not a fact at all, I did the ryugin industries line with not even max level stealth and it felt like I was playing dishonored. Once I took off my gear and just kept to being plain clothed things made sense. Does it work like it did in past titles? Not really, but that doesn't make it *broken*.
All games do not have or share the same vision of eachother. Its the reason why Cyberpunk is such a great game, but all games do not have to feel or even look like it.

They either were a cool reward for a difficult dungeon, or they were in the open with a tough boss fight stopping you. Later in the game you fight starborn AFTER you get them. My biggest conflict with starfield is my self insert character I make in every rpg is the only one I need.
In fallout 4 especially after my first run I would love making new characters, responding differently and killing different faction leaders at different times. The alternate timelines are cool and if you haven't spoiled them for yourself it its a fun spin of the dice to see what comes up but, theres no reason to write a character who hates corperations cause she was just keep ignoring Ryujin which is like 10% of the game. Meanwhile in Fallout 4 I had an ex-cop who paired up with Valentine grew extremely sympetitic to synths. So he went undercover, joined the BoS and as soon as he saw Maxon he shot him in the face, took his jacket and jumped off the prydwen surviving the jump with the power armor he was just gifted. I can't shoot up mast cause I'm a decendant of the war with the freestar collective and make a permenant enemy against the vanguard. So I deleted my 2nd and 3rd character as whenever I played Jill or Claire I felt progress towards the next universe was being wasted not playing on my self insert. She's level 60+ now on universe 3 and while I'm having fun I'm going to miss having a reason to roll a new character.

Started at pre-release and haven't been playing anything else since there is so much to do.... FPS, sniping, going on random kill fests at the main settlements, space dogfights, hunting for specific ships to commandeer.... selling them or customizing them, searching for specific crew members for my ships and outposts, maxing out crew cap, collecting resources, collecting loot, guns, and gear, selling guns and gear, modding guns and gear, building and experimenting with outposts, space trading with rando ships, building and customizing ships, hunting for derelicts, scaring spacers, terrorizing the pirates at Kryx, exploring planets, quests, experimenting with powers... deep freeze power is hilarious, checking out ng+... currently only +1... I didn't think I would like it but it's actually pretty cool so far, pick pocketing, trying to not get caught as a shoplifter, bounty hunting, creature hunting, etc.... almost at the 400hr mark.

the first ng+ kinda hurt, I had a badass mother of a ship that I had upgraded from the base hyena that I took over. Had a complex outpost network for the occasional power level session making nuclear fuel rods, which I used to barter for bullets, guns and other items. Didn't say no to any side quests, except the pirate one. Had bank in terms of credits. Everything I had equipped was modded out the wazoo.
Once I stepped through the unity, having nothing I became laser focused on collecting the artifacts.
I sided with the emissary every time, mainly because it made sense to me, hunter=chaos emissary=order and the way the unity explained that choice actually made it feel like it was the right choice.
I haven't seen one of the alternate realities where constellation has been changed yet but I'm only on ng+ 6 as of now.

I like to roleplay as my characters and try to make decisions they would make. I love how my character turned out.
I made John Starfield, a 40ish year old veteran with long unkept hair and beard. I had no intentions on romance for my first playthrough. He took Sarah as his companion for the first quest and decided to keep traveling with her. While playing I realized it made sense for them to grow closer romantically so he cut his hair and trimmed his beard, and they slowly fell in love, together confronted Sarahs past, and got married.
Soon after he was faced with the decision to return to The Eye or defend the artifacts. What made the most sense to him was to stay with the artifacts. The Hunter was already on his way, he would do no more damage to The Eye, and the man with military training would be the best chance of stopping him from stealing the artifacts. So he stayed and saved the artifacts, only to find that his wife was murdered.
Vengeance for his wife became his only mission. He rejected both the Hunter and Emissary, deciding that no one should have this power, that all starborn should be eliminated, and killed both. With nothing left for him in his own universe, he enters the unity, and finds himself in another universe, saddened upon discovering that Sarah's gift to him was lost.
He returns to Constellation in a change of clothes, does not reveal himself to be starborn, and saves Sarah from dying. He however remains distant and cold, this is not his wife, but it is some consolation that he could save this version of her.
He continues to enter the unity, initially killing all starborn he comes across. After finding peace with himself and the multiverse he makes it his mission to stop the Hunters' rampage, not by killing every version of him, but by persuading them to give up their hunts for the artifacts like the Keeper did. This in turn, gives the Emissary a new mission to stay in that universe and act as a guide for any starborn they come across, hopefully ending the Starborn desire for power, one starborn at a time.
I installed a mod that lets me pick which universe variant to spawn in. After I see each version and max out the star powers, John Starfield will settle down in a universe, possibly the one with multiple versions of himself. Content that his mission to tame the other starborn will eventually succeed with the help of countless Emissaries. That's when he will get to shipbuilding and outpost making, set on molding this final universe how he sees fit, using his knowledge of all the factions to create the perfect universe to live in.

how did you get to new game plus 10 in less than 140 hours? it took me more almost 90 to finish my first playthrough, did you skipped all the side quests and faction quests on NG+?

You have the choice to skip the MQ in any NG+, and if your goal is to see as many variants as possible, you’ll skip most side quests. You can complete a NG+ in about 45 minutes.
