  • The Senate debate on the National Security Agency’s expiring domestic surveillance program got off to a rocky start Sunday afternoon, as Sens. Dan Coats, John McCain and Rand Paul quarreled over debate time preceding procedural votes to reauthorize the program.
With Coats controlling the floor, Paul attempted to claim time, asking the presiding officer repeatedly to state the time remaining before later asking to speak for five minutes. McCain objected to the request, telling the Kentucky Republican to “know the rules of the Senate.”
“Maybe the Senator from Kentucky should know the rules of the Senate,” McCain said.
Paul later received consent to speak for five minutes on the NSA program after forcing the Senate into a live quorum call.

"What the hell are the wasting taxpayer money training for?"
We are wasting it on the military-industrial complex, as I pointed out before. I do not believe we need 900 bases around the world. Neither do I think we need to engage in perpetual unprovoked aggression around the world just for the sake of using the military we are paying for. What are they still doing in Afghanistan? Who are we protecting Germany against? Shouldn't a 1st-world country at least pay up if it wants to be protected?
There are times when the use of force is necessary, but the last American military involvement abroad that yielded positive results ended in 1953. And these neocons want to fight for America all over the globe...except in America itself. One of them actually suggested in all seriousness in a Congress hearing that Americans can't feel safe until Crimea and Donbass return under Ukrainian control. Never mind that 1 million people have been entering this country illegally every year. If you want to secure the border, you are a racist! These people also believe in "free trade," meaning that an American-made car will incur a 25% tariff when sold in China, but a Chinese-made car - only 2% in America.

McCain praised for doing what's right. One should call into question the usage of the word "right" because it is used to support a Health Program that is negligent in the execution of that program. Does any ever hear any praise for the Healthcare system, no ever. Why is it wrong? How is this so? At the beginning the Healthcare Program, though it had some glitches, sit out to see that every American had coverage by subsidizing those who were struggling with healthcare coverage issues. But the insurance saw an opportunity to makes some real money by claiming they were burden with short-fall on the premiums they were collecting. Since Healthcare subsidies are base on incomes, all insurance companies needed to was increase their premiums until they were absorb customer payment as well as the subsidies provided by the Government. In the end, where the customer was to be relieved of the burden of healthcare cost, lost this windfall of relief to the insurance companies absorbing that windfall to increase their own profits margins. Pretty good... huhn... Pretty Good.
