Thats because this was before the rise of the Progressive Movement and the Nuclear Option. Most of this chaos only started with Obama’s second term, as the anti war movement and rhetoric ramped up alongside BLM, Antifa, the LGBT rights movement, and most of the other stuff that has caused the country to go so radical.
Progressivism has destroyed moderation and continues to do so. This General Election showcases it more than anything. We had half the nominees of a dominant political party endorsing the desecration of institutions such as the Electoral College, the Senate, and the Supreme Court. Why? Because they appeal to the Progressives and Radical millennials who dont care to understand the importance of our institutions. Radical pushes for extreme actions will destroy this country’s stability if we do not push back.

John McCain: I don't like his policies, In fact I hardly agree with anything he says. However, there is not a doubt in my mind that he cared for every American. That there's not a dishonest bone in his body. He's a patriot who loves his country through and through and would've been a president that Americans on all sides could be proud of and look to.
RIP John McCain, a patriot, a veteran, and a family man. His life was one of service and he'll go down in history for it.

The tax cuts in the 80's may have helped but I don't think that was supposed to last forever. Only to be used to grow the economy, then raise the taxes once individuals are making enough. Trickle down economics is just like any form of a singular piece of a government mandate. But it loses it's potential when the economy is ever-changing. It's true that it could help in a major financial crisis but, it doesn't need to exist in the filler years when prosperity is happening.

Debate should be going back and forth between a group of people in favor of a motion and thoss against a motion.
Then you have senators outside these groups asking questions and challenging the point of view of either those in favor and those against.
Debate should include questions and cross examination, not just a series of speeches.
