    Love the Vulcan. my family originate from Hallbankgate, and I have visited that Vulcan on many occasions. Can still remember them entering low level from the coast in North Northumberland.

    Updated GX8? Yay!
    Of course PDAF. 3.5mm vs. 2.5mm audio jac? Headphone jac? Better IBIS. Better weather resistance. What else could they do? Loook out Fuji X100VI.

    Sort of hoping for a m43 version as well! We should know soon! Thanks Brian! And btw..look up the Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow or watch the movie ‘The Arrow’. Suspect you may enjoy!

      Another amazing project like the TSR2 in the UK which were mysteriously cancelled in their prime wit instructions to destroy all of the existence of them. The arrow would have been amazing.

    I don’t see the point of a full frame rangefinder, lens’s would be to big, a micro 4/3 rangefinder is what we want 😀

      It’s effectively what Leica cameras are. But I agree, that’s why I’m hoping the body could form the basis of a new GX8 like the S5/2 is for the G9\2

    I love the idea of changing the name. No sensor limitations. They are all valuable tools.

    As per Fr Ted, it's only when I saw the cows in the background that I realised how large that plane was.

    I don't know if you've any interest in flight simulation, but I just "flew" a Vulcan in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Very nicely rendered exterior but the flight deck's only OK (what do you want for freeware?). Fast, but quite sluggish on the controls with a roll rate that wouldn't bode well for avoiding unwanted attention, but hey, it's flyable. There are also Bevs available, but only for earlier sims (such as MS FSX and X-Plane 11). I tried loading it in XP12 but the flight deck's unusable (and I'm not reverting!). Anyway, just thought I'd mention it.
    It'll be interesting to see what the deal is on this new Lumix camera, but it would surprise me if it were a true rangefinder (why, when mirrorless has so many advantages?). How about a "poor man's Leica M?"

      I used to build 2 seat simulators for my Air Cadet Squadron all based on FSX. We taught cadets to fly before sending them on to flying the real thing. I built real time controls and instruments using FSUICP and Arduino controllers. Ours was in a room of its own with the full wall as a projected scenery. Very immersive.
      We had a very good Vulcan model on it modelled as XM655 which is at Wellesbourne Mountford and is still taxiable. We had one of its former real life pilots visit the Sqn once and ‘fly’ out sim over XJ823 at Carlisle Airport.
      I have not used FS2020 yet but it’s supposed to be awesome (my PC is not powerful enough to run it.
      Flight Simulators was a sister trade to mine when I was doing my training at RAF Locking.
      No, it’ll not be a true rangefinder but a rangefinder styled camera I’d guess .
      Best wishes.
      Brian

    Being tribal about the size of a camera sensor, very sad, I think there would be deeper issues at play.

  • @dbcooper7326

    I was fliming a rowing even in London recently with my G9 and kit lens. After taking a few hundred snaps of passing boats, the thing suddenly would not focus anymore and I ended up using my iphone for taking the last few shots. First time the G9 let me down. Does it overheat or something ? I am on latest firmware. I took out the battery and switched her back on but didn't solve it. I kind of lost trust in it now. Any ideas Brian ?

    • @ThatMicro43Guy
      @ThatMicro43Guy  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Taking photos shouldn’t push it to overheating. I have had bad focusing issues with cameras in the past, not my G9 as yet, and every time it’s been down to a not quite fully seated lens or dirty contacts on either the lens or the camera where the lens attaches. In fairness usually the lens. I did have an exposure/noise issue last year with my G9 and cured it by removing the battery overnight and doing a full reset, but remember to back your settings up first.
      The other thing which can cause no end of software issues is an SD card going bad. I’ve heard of lots of people getting weird problems on all sorts of cameras because of a slightly corrupt storage card which appeared to work ok. And it’s a cheapish thing to change.
      Let me know how you get on please as I’m very interested in issues like this.

    To me it doesn’t matter that you call yourself the Micro four thirds guy, even if you shoot different formats. MFT is my main format, I also have a Nikon APS-C set. And i am on the lookout for a Full frame camera to add to the mix. I find it amazing that 35mm cameras like a Pentax ME Super were small like an OM-1.

    • @ThatMicro43Guy
      @ThatMicro43Guy  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I think that’s a lot of the reason I took to MFT so readily. I’d shot for years with Olympus OM system cameras like the original OM1n (which I still have) it’s small, light and well built, the Pentax again is so similar. When I got onto digital with Canon they were huge in comparison but very, very good. So when MFT came along and I got my hands on an E-M5 it just felt so right and so much like my previous film cameras. My first E-M1 was an even bigger step and indeed was the death knell for my use of the bigger formats for normal use.
