    just an extra note; control 3 on the djfx looper only effects the skipping(looping) effect, you dont need it "on" to change the pitch. the way the djfx looper changes "pitch" is by slowing the sample down, but the sp makes a series of micro cuts to keep the sample on tempo, this is what results in the choppy sound you hear with control 1 all the way to the right. as you turn it to the left fewer chops will occur but larger pieces of the sample will be cut off to balance this out. somewhere between 12 and 3 o'clock on control 1 seems to be the sweet spot (it changes for different samples)
    ps dont ever use the "pitch" mfx on the sp404. while neither method retains 100% of the orginal audio quality, the djfx looper is much better in this regard

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 4 lety +3

      Thanks man yeah - realised that you only need to play around with knob 2 after you have put DJFX on the pad and then use 1 to get the sweet spot. I've found pitch ok in the past, like you say depends on the sample and how many times you are resampling as well!

    • @smaudd7873
      @smaudd7873 Před 2 lety

      What do you mean with "keep the sample on tempo?" its the sp404 tempo or the sample tempo?

      @@st0nerrxkx So if you change the sample's bpm maybe you could end with a less choppy sound mitigating the micro cuts?
      Not sure how the bpm shifter behaves. If its more time stretching probably it wont work. Sorry if it doesn't make any sense I do not own the SP.

      Same! I don’t know how you could really stretch it into a full video, but you need to figure out a way, because making it it’s own video would definitely help a ton of people out. It would also get it in front of a lot more people rather than dropping it in a random video although everyone should really learn ways to pitch shift if you’re gonna be playing on the 404.

    If you go back a little further in Roland's battery powered samplers to the MS-1.. the pitch on that thing is so killer. I dig it more than the 202 for pitching, plus it's a third of the size of the SP series.

    The second knob sets the Feedback of the repitch.
    It's basically how many times your sound will go through the repitch once you hit the pad.
    All the way to the left; and your sample will be repitched once.
    All the way to the right, and you sample will be "echoing" with e repitch at each echo.
