      I agree that it is quite impressive. Considering that he probably never stopped to take a rest or grab some snacks. He had a crew to hand the snacks to him, apparently. Otherwise, he'd have to have gone faster to make up break time...
      BUT it wasn't fast enough to get the world record for the 100 miler. Just the American record...by beating his own previous record.

    When Usain Bolt got his 100m world record, thousands were watching him and cheering him, for just 10 seconds! But Zach! he ran for 100 miles at 7 minute pace and set the american world record on an empty track, with only a handful of people cheering on him.

      honestly. Zach's accomplishment was harder. Sure Bolt can run faster, and Zach can run farther, but to stay focused and do that same thing for so long. That's crazy.

    • @JonMo94
      @JonMo94 Před 8 lety +24

      Agreed. I can't understand how he can physically run for 100 miles, let alone how he can mentally run around a 400m track for 12 hours straight without going crazy. Like seriously, most people train to run 26.1 miles, but zach runs 20+ miles everyday in order to train for 100k's 100 miles, etc.

  • @kov1
    @kov1 Před 8 lety +342

    What an incredible accomplishment. What makes it even more incredible to me is that it was done on a track. I cannot imagine what it's like to run one and the same lap for almost 12 hours..

    • @tuesdaysrunner4038
      @tuesdaysrunner4038 Před 7 lety +9

      I think it is much better than the other 12/24 hour races where you are on some 1 mile lap that has potholes, uneven ground, and some slight elevation changes such as mild inclines and mild declines. A flat, level, all weather cushioned track is far better.
