- This video covers how to find the 'relative formula mass', which is the sum of the relative atomic masses of all the atoms within a molecule or compound.
It also covers how to find the the percentage mass of a particular element in a compound.
This video is suitable for:
- Higher and Foundation tiers
- All exam boards
- Triple and combined science

Good luck to those doing chemistry tomorrow!!
Thank you, I'm gonna fail😭
tysm i need it fr😭
I'm having it tmr lmao
@@kirki221did you fail?

Simple. To the point. No messing around. Best video I've seen on RFM.
I actually finally understand. THANK YOU!!!
Haha thanks Kim! Relative formula mass is a bit of a weird one to get your head around, so really happy to hear this was helpful 😇
No problem
Me too!
Me too
@@Cognitoedu its easy
So beneficial, thank you for your simplicity and clarity
Hi Ahmad, really happy to hear you found it useful. Thanks for taking the time to comment, it really helps us out :)
Just got 3 questions on exactly what this video was talking about,
My goodness this guy is good, definitely subbed
😁
Doing some revision video searching as this way of learning is always the best for me and so glad I found your channel! Your videos are so clear and easy to understand, especially with your helpful diagrams and images. You definitely deserve some more subscribers :)
Hi Lottie thanks so much for the kind comments! Really happy that you find them useful!
And I also want to say I had my chem mock today and your videos help me so much..your a lifesaver thank you
Whys it gotta get so complicated so damn quickly?! I still don't understand even after watching this video. which is uncommon for me
@@SajjadAli-er4fh yeah this was long ago, i actually get it now XD
May Allah grant you peace and wealth, your videos are very helpful to anybody who comes across them!

Amen ya rab alalamen
Love the simplicity in this video, so much easier. Thanks!
This is the one stop tutorial guys so if u donno or find Mr mass finding hard its really simple with his explanation.... thx a lot
Thank you! You weren't too fast or too slow. You went at the right pace.
You saved me, tysm for thiss.. Stay safe and strong, good luck for your channel. All the best man, you're great!
This video is AmAzing. Couldn't really get my head around it when my teacher taught this... Thanks alot
There were so many moments where I went "OHHHHHHH I GET IT NOWWW"
Thank you
Really happy to hear it!
You wouldn't imagine how could this helped me out!!!
I really thank you by my heart!!
Been having mock CAE's recently,
Your videos have been so helpful i thank you so so much
Was super super confident in my chemistry and biology thans to you!! Physics next week :)
Amazing explanation. Understood really well!!
Bro you made it so simple thank you I have chemistry test tommorow
your channel intro is so satisfiying jees
your video is very easy to understand ! thank you !!
is the relative molecular mass the same ?in my spec (for igcse) it says calculate the relative formula masses(including relative molecular masses) from felative atomic mass
Hello there! I just wanted to ask if this is the same as relative atomic mass (with Isotopes)?
😂 where’s my year 11’s at good luck for us guys 💔
bro my exams are like next week 😪😔
Another great and simple explanation, thank you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS VIDEO WAS VER HELPFUL!!!
Hey for the the last question when it said 74 where did you get that from?
this helped me out so much. thank you!
i still dont really understand. I tried to do the last one with the oxygen by myself so i could just check the answer later to see if i understood, but i accidently used proton number in each element, after i got the answer i understood that and redid it. With relative atomic mass i got 43.8%, and the answers when i used with proton numbers where almost similar, the one with proton numbers was 43,2%, which is the correct answer as the video says. So what method should i use exactly? Does one decimal means anything or i could just use any of those two methods and leave the decimal behind?
Great video. Loved it !
I never said thank you to you mate, you're awesome
his voice sets me at ease for somereason
This channel is so useful I love the diagrams thankyou this helped so much
Thanks, glad you're finding the animations helpful 😊
thank you so much!! you explained it so well
Does the critical temperature increase as the relative formula mass increases?
hi HEY! i finally understood thanks to you! my teacher did explain it but i didnt get it but thanks to YOU!!!
thank you for the A+ in my chem exam !!!
in the definition of finding the relative formula mass did you mean to write: add together the relative atomic mass of all the elements in that compounds molecular formula?
How do I do this topic since it doesnt show (in your website)
Good video, helped a lot!
Man! Cant express my gratitude to you
Thanks farida!!!
Hope you reach 1 M, you really deserve as lottie said
I have understood all except the percentage bc I am confused about what I should do about the (32×1)/98
youre a living legend
Hello! What if we have something like 2H20?
this is so helpful thanks a lot
Thank it really helped me out I was looking at my region guide and I still didn’t get it it but thanks to u I appreciate that a lot
Hi Maariya! Thanks for the comment, and really happy to hear it helped you! Good luck with all your work 🙌
Thank you
Thank you so much .I was so confused and worried about my exam 💗
Glad we could help HHA, good luck 🤞
Do you have a video covering empirical formula?
you are the best man
i hate quantitative chemistry
great as always
I don’t seem to understand this part 0:50

Aah thanks Naseem, good luck with your cies 🙏
Your a legend thank you so much 👏🏻👏🏻
No problem 👍
I got chemistry mock paper 1 tommorow and I am trying to revise as much as I can to get moved to higher
Question here👋 is molecular mass measured in grams or no unit?
LIFESAVER. THANK YOU.
excuse me, how are you, what is the RFM of 0.3 g of oxygen and volume of 224cm cubic
OMG!! thank you so much!! I have a chemistry test on this in a week and this defo helped me out!! :DD
Ah so glad we could help, all the best with your test! 🤞
Thank you for this
Soo underated!
Can you make a video on molecular and empirical formulae please
Already on 1K Subs.

Nice vid
You explain better than my teacherrr
whyd ya only get 1 like but another person who said the exact same thing got 150
Ar vs Mr which one is it?

Zoo wee mama
Tomorrow’s my chem. exam
Help!😢
At 3:19 I believe a mistake is made.
It should be 16 + 1 (Oxygen + Hydrogen) which equals 17 (the relative formula mass for OH i.e. Hydroxide).
Then 17 is multiplied by 2 as there are 2 hydroxide molecules present which equals 34.
nope cuz we r looking for the mass in oxygen not in hydrogen and oxygen
i think you made a mistake at 1:55, 32+1+64 is 97, not 98.
Thanks for the feedback! I think you might be missing the second hydrogen in your workings?
@@Cognitoedu ohhh yes, sorry my mistake 🤦♂️🤦♂️😅
