- How to calculate concentration in g/dm³.
To measure how much of a particular substance we have a give volume, we can work out the concentration. In this video we cover how to calculate concentration in grams per decimetre cubed, and have a go at some examples.
This video is suitable for:
- Higher and Foundation tiers
- All exam boards
- Triple and combined science
If you’d like to practise the material covered in this video, check out our platform at www.cognitoedu.org - it's totally free, and has been built to make learning and revision as easy as possible. The main features are:
- Lessons organised by topic, only the lessons relevant to your specific exam board and tier are shown.
- Automatic progress tracking. Progress bars tell you what you’re doing well at, and what you need to spend some time on.
- Practise quizzes so you can test your knowledge. You can quiz yourself on any combination of topics you like.
- A huge number of fully-hinted questions that take you step-by-step through some of the trickiest calculations & concepts.
- A comprehensive bank of past exam papers, organised both by year, and also by topic.

Thanks Trinox you’re a star mate really appreciate the support 💛
The most concise and understandable way of teaching GCSE courses. Fab work Cognito!!! You really do put competition with freesciencelessons :)
for some reason i find his lesson easier to understand than free science lessons.
they are so much better!
I use them both, one before and one after reading and taking notes from the revision guide
thanks for this man, I have my last ever GCSE chemisty exam tomorrow.
What did u get
@@Dz-nn9gt full marks. My final gcse grade was 9-9 in combined science
@@nikitaodedra7010 WOW Well done 🙂
@@nikitaodedra7010 full marks? holy crap
@@xfreja I didn’t get FULL marks but I got enough to get a 9-9
you are saving me right now, i have had this explained to me like 10 times and i now understand in prep for my chemistry mock tomorrow thank you
Thanks Hannah, great to hear we could help 😊
Can you guys start doing A-Level science too!!!!
Great video!! Another great thing to know is: A Mole is also = Concentration x Vol, where Concentration can be written as mol/dm³. This can then be converted to grams by multiplying moles by Mr.
I swear this channel is so underrated
I am sure everyone who watch this video will understand the topic
Really nice 👍
When did we stop using Liters for liquid volume? We used liters in high school, what happened between when I graduated high school and now? I'm not old yet, I just graduated university and came out to have fun. Never seen decimeters before used in the lab.
Thanks for sharing
hey could u do titration video
Is this formula different from the moles concentration and volume formula
Thanks alot
Yu are a lyf saver
Thanks
thnxxx
i love you
If you ever want to succeed in Physics or Chemistry or even Biology: Remember, do step by step, even if your last answer is wrong you still get bonus marks, check units, they always cost you marks due to conversions or not writing them in exam.
