I live in America, and that was super slow compared to most our grocery stores, and we also have better bagging systems to make things easier. However, I'm assuming it's something to do with plastic bags that they try to cut down on for the environment.
I cant say that the extra work isn't worth the potentionally positive influence you would have on the environment.

My sister is working at Aldi and there is a very good reason why the Aldi cashiers are scanning much faster: their speed is logged/recorded by Aldi. So Aldi knows exactly how long this specific cashier needs, to scan the items per minute and per customer. There is actually a score.
And their are guidelines how fast they have to be. So if they are too slow their superior will talk to them about it and how they could speed up the process.

I used to work at Netto (the black/yellow one) and our scan time per item was logged, too. The trick is to hit subtotal if something takes longer to either scan, or if the customer cannot keep up and you have no space to put the items without shoving others off the cash counter... Don't know how Aldi is handling it, but back then we were encouraged to need less than a second between items.

Not really if you know what they are. The first one is agave syrup (Dicksaft = thick juice, so syrup) which is used as a honey replacement for the calorie-conscious. The second is a very popular dairy product, as the name suggests it's thickened milk and is similar to yoghurt, but less tangy and more creamy. It's a perfect dessert with some fruit compote, or simply a little sugar and cinnamon.

As a piece of advise. Have a cart or busket, a lot of supermarkets in Germany offer you one or the other or both, so you can put everything in them and fill in your time your bag.
And the job of someone who packs your bag for you sounds a bit silly even with with this fast cashiers in Germany.
