      You can get a decent quality 250 for about 2K. Do you live in the city or country? If you live in the city, youre gonna need to spend another 300 to get a hitch mounted motoramp on your car.
      Helmet, boots, gloves, goggles all entry level will run you about another 300$
      For 2600$ you can enjoy the wonderful world that is MX.

    Any goggle recommendations, particularly for those that wear glasses?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 3 lety +2

      There are plenty of OTG (Over The Glasses) options to choose from on our site:
      www.revzilla.com/search?_utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=OTG
      Personally, I use these and am very happy with them. They even fit over my bulky Ray Ban style glasses and I have never had an issue with fogging:

      I hope that helps!

      @EarthSurferUSA Před 3 lety +1

      Same issue here too. I will check out OTG (over the glasses goggles) at my local dealerships, and bring my glasses. But after I select the goggle and used it, I see no issue with buying the next identical set,------------------- sight unseen. :)

    Can these goggles be worn comfortably if you are wearing spectacles?

    • @ppeters77
      @ppeters77 Před 3 lety +2

      There are two options: OTG (over the glasses) goggles, several brands like Oakley and 100% have those. Or a clip-in lens, which is a set of spectacles without the arms, but with little tabs to be fitted into more or less all kinds of goggles. It's what I use and it works perfectly. There are also systems where your prescription is moulded into the goggles lens, but last time I checked those were way too pricey.

      @@ppeters77 With today's 3-d printing machines being so inexpensive, you would think a local optometrist could print you a prescription lens in about 2 hours. That would be the ultimate for people who use glasses.

    almost 2 decades of not riding to get a slightly used YZ250 2-stroke. The shifting lever and brake petal are so easy to move, and the boots are a exoskeleton that would make a lobster jealous,---I can't feel the levers at all. I have no idea how we are to get full control, when you can't feel the controls. I might go with a trials boot, or put a damper on the shifter and a air bubble in the rear brake line. I have never had such a hard time setting up a new bike to be comfortable on it, (lowered the bike a bit too. Too damn tall). Gloves don't have any finger protection anymore, (might as well wear Mechanix gloves), boots don't have any feeling of the controls. pants no longer come with a bit of knee protection,---and I want a stinking kidney belt! Man,---I wish I had a time machine to get back to the sport that made sense.

    • @burger_boi1174
      @burger_boi1174 Před 2 lety +4

      Extremely extremely important. I was riding with steel cap boots but still crashed and ended up with 7 stitches in my shin that would have been protected by proper boots

      I would always ride with sneakers until I twisted my ankle on a turn to the point where it was facing the opposite direction. Now I have 3 brackets and 10 screws around my ankle.. Sucks everytime it gets cold.
      Wear your boots.

    Is "essential gear", the same as "essential workers", where they only work for the state, and the free market, your private business), is not "essential"? Was this gear made by overpaid, under skilled state workers? It would be great if we understood the premise of the catch words we use.
