    Thank you for the information. I'm running AMD Ryzen 5000 series, Ryzen 9 5950X.

    Very convenient timing with this release to get the heat off of Intel's failing chips and poor handling of the situation

    I am safe, but hopefully those affected will get a fix.

    Atleast the intel spectre and meltdown needed physical acces.

    Should note this affects any AMD CPU that has SMM (all the way back to 2006) these are probably ones they have tested

    If you do not use your CPU for data you are fine. those are hardware-based issues that can't be fixed by bios updates the code only adds to protection not fixed.

    How will we know when the fixes are out? Yes mine is series 5000. I bought it 2 yrs ago, it makes me mad because that means I bought it with a flaw!! I bought it from Memory Express with a warranty I wonder what they with say?

      All CPUs have security vulnerabilities, you'll be fine, as most of them require someone to have physical access to your system, and have elevated security privileges. Windows updates will likely just fix this automatically. 99.9% of average users won't need to even worry about this

    Well, at least my 5900X is not degrading rapidly and crashing all the time.

    But you would need to have a malware already installed at the kernel level… hm, gaming laptop?

    • @user-fm1fd4xm2y
      @user-fm1fd4xm2y Před 28 dny +2

      Kernel level software? Any driver or some Anti-Cheat software which works on kernel level.
      There are millions of programs you have to install with admin (and therefore Ring 0) rights. All of them might have flaws and you just dont know.

    How to know it's the processor is safe , what are the symptoms if effected

    • @user-fm1fd4xm2y
      @user-fm1fd4xm2y Před 28 dny +1

      You simply dont. There may be no symptoms at all even though the attacker has full remote control. Sees everything, knows everything. Even the fix dont fix anything except that the attack cant be done after the fix.
      But if the attack occured before the fix: you are also compromised.

    a another cpu exploit 😱😨🤦‍♂?????? are we go again ... at this point i think it will be best to no publically said the exploit anymore so the issue will be less problematic as it will be less know for hacker and hardware is expansive and sometime not replacable on laptop ....

    • @noxagonal
      @noxagonal Před měsícem

      Hackers may already know about this, it's better that the public knows about it too so that everyone patches their machines as fast as possible. If you hide it, people stop caring about security.
      Watch lock picking lawyer and tell me you'll still want to buy masterlock. 😆

    The best thing is to take the CPU out That won't happen the sinkclose. Do not have to worry about the CPU.
