I don't know why many people are against this in the comment section. Everywhere I go, people have requested deprecation of the Control Panel. It's been one of the main criticisms of windows 11 for still having some settings in the control panel after so long. This change seems more use-requested than a desicion by Microsoft. Some comments have mentioned lack of proper user control for the Settings app not being able to fully cover every possibility without a Control Panel. Their concern is on point. On the other hand, Microsoft knows the reason people didn't like the control panel in Win11 was the settings app not being able to fully replace it. So we can only hope for it being a successful upgrade to the settings app and not Microsoft cheaply taking away control from the users by simply straight up removing the control panel or making it harder to access.

Settings is a disaster, and completely incapable of managing printers in a business setting -- it constantly errors out when adding printers, while the old control panel works fine. M$ doesn't even know what they're doing.

If Windows is going to force me to make a umbilical cord to the mothership so that they have access to my data, well it's been a long time coming but bye-bye Nadella and hello Torvalds. Microsoft is no longer creeping into our private lives, they are stomping in the door and screaming 'deal with it'. We''ll see if there are ways around this crap but if not, adios Microsoft I can categorically say that I will not be back.

  • @futuristicentity2417

They need to fix the disk check thing when I dual boot with an older Windows I have to use a separate computer because the dual boot sends me into disk checking 24/7 I mainly wanted Windows 7 with Linux but I might buy a cheap Linux Mint laptop on e bay for casual use Microsoft has made it clear they only want to make Windows worse and unfair for everyone else to upgrade. Microsoft has already been banned in Russia and the ban might make it in America if they keep violating people's right to privacy by THINKING policies make them above everyone else news flash Microsoft it doesn't mean that at all if you use policy to control your customers it becomes communism causing people to migrate somewhere else. I like the idea of switch to Linux but in a previous video I think I complained how there's Windows only software that will only OFFICIALLY run on Windows it looks like Steam is fixing that by buying out older games from the 2000s making it available to be purchased they also need to buy out ray trace abilities and migrate them over to Linux Microsoft and OpenAI are becoming the Skynet we don't want it to become and soon the government or AI will have total access to your computer telemetry sending your browsing information to the NSA also this feature can be turned off for now but for how long I have no fucking idea goodluck everyone Microsoft and OpenAI are hitting the dystopian SciFi level technology that we don't want to have but is gonna happen anyway I like certain emulators on Linux which is highly persuading me to become a Linux user down the line sad to see Microsoft has gone to shit ever since Windows 7 reached End of Life I got an old casual emachine with Windows 7 for casual computing and browsing if I upgrade the RAM I can eventually emulate games like it's 2009 all over again in our basement since there wasn't any room updates to put the thing but needless to say at this point I am about to replace my SmartTV with an old PlasmaTV I found at the salvation army store similar to goodwill and it only costs $80 to replace my SmartTV with a regular TV manufacturers better start preparing to go back to 2000s technology because it's not too late. I must admit I like the Windows 11 Acrylic and it reminds me of SIMILAR to Aero Effects but removing features is making me not want to use it and why the hell is Cortana still a feature in 23H2 isn't she deprecated or are they bringing her back or something what's the deal? Also as you noticed I subbed and liked your channel sorry for not being grammarly correct man I think the state we are in is more important than my grammar.

No, it is critical for security going forward with the push towards client-side small language model and AI inferencing on user machine. Thats is why. And on another note, nothing inherently wrong with BitLocker on by default in my book. Most people are backing up data in cloud already, either with OneDrive or Google. Technology is changing and there is nothing wrong with staying on Windows 10 until your next hardware upgrade. Don't hamstring others that are on a more paid hardware upgrade cycle. Most of us want the features that are only available on Windows 11 running on Microsoft's minimum equipment specs.

On the WIndows 11 start menu, it has apps that are click to install. Just like people don't like bloatware installed on Android phones, we don't want it on Windows. Android doesn't have ads to upgrade to the next version. The Home version should be clean just like the Enterprise version. WIndows is an operating system for personal computers that people use at home, school and work, so it needs to be clean of ads and bloatware.

Way to confuse and alienate your consumer base even further Microsoft! I rarely go to All Settings, because it opens up page after page after page of settings, and there's no icons like in Control Panel, which gives you an idea of what you're looking for. Just another reason to stick with Windows 10 or move to Linux. Microsoft just can't stop taking the Losses with either their new OS or with Xbox.

Microsoft has not moved all the control panel stuff to settings app. For example, not all the power options are in the settings app. Also, the Mail (Microsoft Outlook) settings are not in the settings app. I did like when they added the printer settings to Control Panel in Windows 7 which showed a picture of the printer and its settings. Settings app does not show all of that

What's it been? 5 years since win11 came out.... and still only a few of the control panel options have been moved over. We'll be on Windows 30 before they actually get around to moving it all over lol. Although I did notice in the latest canary build they have disabled the ability to use the old win7 backup stuff from the control panel to make system images etc. Although I suspect that move is more to promote their built in "backup" system which is practically useless unless you buy a bunch of onedrive space to store the actual backups.

Per Standard Operating Procedure, I always back up my Linux Mint immediately before applying any Win11 updates. I had no problems with my Linux Mint 21.3 dual boot with Grub 2.06 (Win 11 is 3rd option down) after installing August patches. It's a fairly recent MicroCenter PowerSpec B734, which came with Win11 preinstalled (local account), and now has the latest 23H2 patches. Apparently MicroCenter never bothered to enable Secure Boot, and I didn't either (I didn't even know what it was until now). Msinfo32 shows it's disabled. Apparently that's what saved me from having to fix Grub?

They have to make decisions every day of when to drop support for edge cases (like an AMD market needs assessment mistake.) It's not just AMD, there are some fairly recent Intel processors that are not supported that are about 6 years old as well. I would say that Win 10 security updates stopping in Oct 2025 is kind of not cool, but I am going to predict that this date will be extended, depending of course on what the number of Win 10 systems are still in use in October next year. I'm not a big AMD guy, but can't you get a fairly cheap processor off of eBay or even a new that would make your system Win 11 compliant (without changing the motherboard?)
