    Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games czcams.com/users/postUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

    I watch his show every saturday and bought the book czcams.com/users/postUgkxGQVgV21bQ7B9b9duQ1ByImyT9xHbjOKq because i like his method. He's very talktative in the book about his dog training experiences with several different breeds over the years. When he does get to the training chapters, you need to read more slowly, take mental or written notes and try to apply his advice to your pet. That's where i'm at now. Another review is in order aftet i've trained my blue mountain shepherd with brandon mcmillan's method.

    I signed my dog up for a training class, the first thing we’re working on is focus. My dog has zero focus, but somehow I taught him lots of tricks. Focus should have been the first. I like your method as it explains how to do it a bit more. I’m very excited to continue training with him, especially with the distractions later on.

      You must count this training food to daily food of your dog. If U use some amount in training, count it down from bowl. Then your dog will love training - because it become not training but feeding and his weigh is under your control. And everything will be OK. :-)

    This is real useful training for plenty of dogs. It will work for a lot of situations apart from some working dogs. In the case of certain working dogs food is secondary to doing what they were bred to do, guard/ hunt/ herd and they will not even entertain eating until the job is well out of the way.A decent way to get results in a lot of cases without any hassle if owners can make the effort.

    Does it make a difference to use varying tones when saying their name? She used a higher pitch to call his name each time...will he learn the word/pitch combination? If she were to use a lower pitch, would he respond in the same way or would it be like starting over again?

    • @fliskography9378
      @fliskography9378 Před 8 lety +13

      I have noticed a change in my voice when our 6 month old GSD responded a certain way when i put my attention towards him about his behavior. I started to learn when to utilize my tone to shame, reward or gain his attention. I speak in a higher pitch when its rewarding him. lower tone when he is being naughty . a lot of the times i'm monotone with him and he does really well. As long as you have your pups attention, it is very easy to train while being consistent with boundaries. I hope this helps you. It took a few months but Payton in 10 months old now and is doing very good.

    • @petertopp7877
      @petertopp7877 Před 6 lety +1

      Dogs respond to pitch and timbre just as humans do. A happy, high pitched voice will engage them much better than a deeper “angrier” voice.

    • @dodopson3211
      @dodopson3211 Před 6 lety

      I think you'd be conditioning the dog for "pavlos dog". In case you are unfamiliar with the experiment: the dogs would hear a bell and then get their food. After a while they already started drooling at the sound of the bell.
      By saying good boy/girl and then treating you are connecting "happy" neurons in the brain so even if you don't have a treat they still think "yes I'm a good boy!!"
