  • Cleaning my dirty Indian Roadmaster with Pro Honda High Performance spray cleaner and polish “complete detailer in a can”. This stuff is great and can be found at many dealerships for around $10 a can. I always keep around 4-5 cans handy to keep all my bikes nice and clean.

    I have never washed my motorcycles with hose and soap and water. I know better than to use a pressure washer .. The only thing I have ever used is this Honda detailer/cleaner.... I do the windshield first on the motorcycle, and on my helmet. Then I do the motorcycle. I’ve used it on my black BMW K 1200 LT, my black Honda pacific coast, my two ventures one of them was black,my Moto Guzzi’s.. My yellow Gold Wing.all of my windshields are the originals. They have no scratches. The face shield on my HJC helmet is the original. It’s at least 10 years old.. The reason I mention my motorcycles that are black, is because everyone knows that black is the hardest color to keep clean, and, it will show even the slightest scratch. None of my motorcycles have cleaning scratches. This stuff is magic..
    I am not kidding when I say I have never used soap and water on any of my street bikes. And I have never pressure washed a street bike. pressure washers destroy motorcycles. They takeoff paint, they force water into your electronics, in past your wheel bearing seals, down all your cables, inside all of your instrument cluster glass, they rinse the grease out of your chain, out of your steering head bearings ,off of your side stand in Center stand pivot.They forced water in to make your axles rust in place, they force water into your forks past the seals, I know this because, I was a motorcycle mechanic, and I have taken things apart that water poured out of, and many times, we couldn’t get axles out of hubs using sledgehammers on machines that were pressure washed. A pressure washer will remove concrete. It will remove the skin from your hand if you held it there long enough. Water has a lot of power, just look what it did to the Grand Canyon.
    This can of Honda spray cleaner/detailer sold by Honda, is there a number one highest number of items sold product. They sell more cans of this stuff than they do any other single part worldwide.. I carry the smaller can on my motorcycle for cleaning bugs off, windshields in face shields when needed.
    I have tried other detailer products from Maguires and others.. they aren’t even close to being as good as the Honda stuff.
    I am not kidding. I cannot even remember what decade it was the last time I used soap and water on a motorcycle. Before I discovered this Honda detailer, I was using Johnson’s lemon pledge .I bought myself a Vanson leather motorcycle jacket from Vanson of New England. That jacket came with very specific instructions to only use lemon pledge on the leather and nothing else.If I didn’t read that instruction when I got the jacket, I would have been using on the Honda detailer on the leather.
    I am not kidding, I have not washed a motorcycle in over 30 years with a hose soap and water. I only use this product.

    I've been using it for years. I decided to see what others say. It's great. Ive never used a water hose on my bike. Don't let it get that dirty. It's great on everything. Metal plastic and dash displays.

    I have used this Honda product and I agree that it's pretty good. However, I found that Protectall is much better. You can use it on paint, chrome, leather, glass, vinyl and rubber. It's amazing, and a little goes a long long way. It leaves a finish that feels like a hard carnuba wax where water beads up. You can find it online, and some Walmart stores.

    How about cleaning the wheels? I use a similar product and move the bike I bit at a time to clean the back wheel.

    • @harrylime5147
      @harrylime5147 Před 4 lety

      The wheels I treated differently than I do that all the paint and metal in the windshield of the motorcycle. You have to treat your aluminum wheels The same way you would treat a painted surface. All three of my current motorcycles are shaft drive, so they don’t get the 90 weight oil that I use on my chains on the wheel. Brake dust is the major hard to clean item off of the front wheel. The front wheel generally takes more time to clean then it does to clean the whole motorcycle with the Honda detailer spray. I will spray the wheel with Honda detailer, and use a 1 inch wide stiff bristle paint brush cut down a bit so the bristles are stiffer and work that in to the wheel to loosen the dirt and dust. Then I buff the wheel with an old sock or towel. When I have the wheels off to change tires, I make sure to do the same procedure...Are using Honda detailer to clean the wheels, the dirt doesn’t really get into the pores of the metal, and the wheels come clean relatively easy. If you make the mistake of using harsh cleaner or abrasive on the wheels, then you’ve taken the protective finish off

    Can you use this as a post wash polish/shine as well? My bike is a bit too dirty to just clean with this Honda cleaner so I was hoping to do a proper two bucket wash, but I also want something to shine it up when I'm done washing it. I've got a chrome fuel tank so it needs to be safe for chrome which is why this Honda clean appeals to me. Or, is it better to save this for quick touch ups and use something like a Turtle Wax Ice spray after a proper washing?

      @grindsoul  Před 3 lety

      I honestly think its good for both in between and even if your bike is really dirty. When its caked on dirt, I spray a liberal amount of this on there and just let it soak in for 5-10 minutes and come back with a cloth and wipe everything away. When its an in between detail touch up, its excellent for that too because one quick spritz and a nice clean cloth can bring the bike back to life in a heartbeat from garage dust etc.

      @@grindsoul Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a try. Do you have a suggestion for something to protect your chrome with? I've got a chrome fuel tank and , while I'm not worried about the scratches it picks up, I would like to use some type of protectant. Do you wax your chrome or is there another product you use? Your bike looks awesome

    • @grindsoul
      @grindsoul  Před 3 lety

      Depends on the bike size and how often you clean. Can be one month or a couple of weeks. I wipe down weekly so lasts about a month

    Is that stuff the same thing as hondabrite?

    • @grindsoul
      @grindsoul  Před 4 lety

      No sir. Hondabrite is a degreaser and has anti corrosion inhibitors and its meant for a spray wash. This Honda Spray is meant for waterless wash using wiping and it does not contain any degreaser like the Hondabrite
